We visited Rhodes in September 2012 and had a great time.
I'll address a couple of the issues other reviewers picked up on.
Great value for money. I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers were thinking when they paid next to nothing for 2 to 3 star accommodation and then essentially criticised it for not being 5*. This is good basic accommodation with decent facilities and friendly people.
George seems to work very hard hence he can seem a little brusque at times. He was extremely helpful with regards to helping us plan our day trips. We hired a car for the week and travelled all over the island with George’s guidance.
With regards to the cats, don’t go to Rhodes, or Greece or many other beautiful places if you think seeing a cat in less than British tip-top condition will offend you. Yes there are lots of cats and yes Greece needs a national neutering programme – but I should imagine this is the last thing on their list of things to do right now.
We visited many beaches, which you will find deserted at this time of year, Rhodes Town, the Bee Museum (well worth a visit!), Kallithea….amongst other places.
For an excellent local restaurant take a left on the main road and either the first or second left again. Walk down the lane even though it looks dark and empty. You’ll find it on a corner on the left hand side.
Great holiday, great accommodation.
