“Absolutely unmissable!”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

I liked everything. the building gives you a clue about what a Templary hospital would be like. There are rooms after rooms with very old and unique statues of Greek creation. The pottery is as old as the history of the island. You will be amazed with all those forms and colours of the greek pottery. Do not forget to get upstairs to visit a model of an ancient house and to have a look at the Roman Kidnapping of Europa,,,,

“A bit boring after a while.”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

The museum has lots of rooms, quite a few have the same things in them so we lost interest after a while. The great hall is stunning however and well worth a visit. We found the entrance fee of 6 euros rather steep.

“Incredible building and garden to see”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

The building is what engaged us the most. There are two floors with incredible medieval history including sculpture, lovely gardens some planted on a second floor, and outdoor display of frescoes; the artifacts were interesting similar to Archeological Museum in Athens. They could have been better described, and the museum could be much improved with updated signage and multi-media additions to the exhibits offering more exciting ways to make the collection and the history come alive. For example, the place was originally a hospital, but very little really describes what happened here or what that was like. Too bad, because this is so unique. The staff do not go out of their way to educate, there are a few people throughout who just sit in a chair and watch visitors. Modern standards for museums create far more learning opportunities.

Excellent museum. Particularly liked the herb garden surrounded by mosaics and other archeological artefacts. Nice little cafe too.
