“There's something about Filerimos..........”
Reviewed 15 June 2013

Have just returned from my 9th visit to Filerimos! I never thought that I would be someone who goes back to the same place more than once or twice, but have such a great time and have made many friends - both locals and others from Britain, Holland, Poland, etc, who all revisit too. (We have a site called 'Holiday Friends of Filerimos' where we keep in touch).

The staff are brilliant - they treat me like visiting royalty! All credit to George Zouroudis, Manager for the last two seasons, who has made some noticeable improvements: the food is better - there is always something nice to eat and lots of choice, and it's kept hot: an army of grounds staff keep the beautiful gardens and the pools looking lovely: Yiannis the barman is a legend - such a brilliant guy with a great sense of humour, excellent language skills and he's quick and skilled at his job. He mixes marvellous cocktails and entertains as he goes. Hope they never lose Giannis - it would just not be the same place.

The apartments are cleaned six days a week. The maids are unobtrusive, efficient and really pleasant and helpful. I love the garden apartments - airy and scenic with wildlife around - hedgehogs, a friendly hooded crow who acted as an alarm clock, two young cats who remembered me from last year and a beautiful owl who peeked out sometimes from the back hedge. (By the way, look out for the dog with puppies on the road to the beach - beautiful).

The beach is pebbly so no sand between your toes but you need something on your feet. It's about a half-mile scenic walk. The Mirteni Bar is a good place to stop off for a cool drink on the way: Julie and family make you so welcome. Sunbeds are three euros fifty now, but you can stay all day for that. There's mostly a good breeze there so it never feels too hot.

Town - Ialysos/Trianda - is about a mile's walk away. Plenty of bars/restaurants. For shopping for good quality clothes, bags, etc at excellent prices, I always go to see Phillipos and family, opposite the Alkionis Sports Bar (really good bar and food). Sakis and co at the Rainbow Bar by the Electra Palace Hotel always make me really welcome too - great late evening fun place to be! (just a short taxi ride from Filerimos, or walk it like I do).

Rhodes old town on Saturday night/Sunday morning is the place to be. All the clubs, bars and streets are full of people and the atmosphere is amazing. Some really expensive restaurants there, but if you choose carefully some really good value ones too.

Back at Filerimos Hotel: in the grounds is a beautiful, tiny church. You can light a candle if you want to, but it is worth a visit just to see the exquisite paintings and decoration.

Animation team, as ever, were friendly and fun. Mostly need to be French-speaking currently as about eighty percent of guests are French - lovely, friendly people, even though we mostly did not speak the same language. Also met some fun Russians and a few folk from Czech Republic, Poland and Netherlands.

I have already booked my return flight for September!!

Room Tip: If you like the security of being inside, stay in the main block. Garden apartments away from the ma...

Travelled 15 May 2013.Staff and hotel great. Food very good, enough choice for everyone. Clean room although a little dated, everything working. Cleaned daily with fresh towels. Pool lovely cleaned daily, plenty sunbeds. Pool bar staff very friendly, drinks plentiful, snack choice limited. Hotel bar good fun, thanks to Yanis for excellent service.

Room Tip: No WiFi in rooms, can have paid WiFi in reception.

We booked a last minute all-inclusive holiday and went not expecting anything special or out of the ordinary. We had an brilliant time! The (slightly amateur) entertainment team were truly fantastic, great fun, and made sure that no one was left out, the aqua gym sessions had to be seen to be believed, and the staff were lovely and very friendly and welcoming. The other guests were particularly pleasant too (though that was of course just luck). The rooms were basic, but clean and spacious, and the bathroom/kitchen area had everything we needed. The food was really good, although it did get a bit repetititve after a week; but I always find that with all-inclusive. At dinner, there was always a barbecue selection, fresh pasta or paella, as well as salads, meats and vegetables. The baklavas were fantastic and so was the greek yoghurt. The selection of drinks was good, and the bar man, Yannis, was very nice indeed. We would highly recommend this hotel, and are planning to go back.

Room Tip: The rooms by the pool area are the best, but if you get a studio or one-bed in the main building onl...

This place is truely wonderful. Having been there 2 years previously, we decided to book up again for our honeymoon and we wasnt disappointed. The rooms are modern and clean and the pool areas are amazing. All the staff are lovely and friendly Giannis is the best and nothing is too much trouble. Looking forward to going back again next year.

Had a week-long stay with friends in this pleasant all-inclusive resort.

The room was spacious, if a little basic. But the essentials were very good - beds were comfortable and the bathroom had a large, powerful shower.

Food from the buffet was good, but lacked variety with some dishes appearing three or four times over our week. In particular, desserts lacked some originality. The drink range was to be expected from an all-inclusive. The local beer and soft drinks were fine, although the wine was a little unpleasant.

Leisure facilities were a real winner. The pool was large and deep, so suitable for proper swimming. There was also a good amount of space for loungers so not too much fighting for a spot! The Entertainments team were busy, putting on a lot of sport and activity for all during the day.

The hotel is not located very close to the beach - it's a 15 minute walk rather than being just outside - and it's not near any main shops or night life either. However, we took a cheap and quick bus to the city centre a couple of times from right outside. And - if you're the kind of traveler who likes just chilling out around the pool on a holiday like this - then you'll be very pleased.

At the end of Sept I completed my second 4 week stay at the Filerimos this year so this hotel obviously suits me.This basic, but great value for money hotel gets better and better,a lot of this is down to George Zouroudis the new general manager. He has improved the standard of the food, the one area i have criticised in the past, there are now bbq choices to complement the array of food on offer at lunch and dinner,a 'Greek' night with wine, dancing and loads of fun ! There are further improvements planned for the restaurant next year so things should be even better, with this in mind I've already begun looking for flights for next year, will you be joining me ?
