“All German, Rooms very very basic, Have to Pay for air con!!”
Reviewed 16 July 2009

When we arived it was very quiet. Then we realised this was because everyone was around the main pool at the back of the complex. The hotel is not for english, there is no travel advice or information in english, it's all in german.
We only got a sunbed once in a week because the germans reserve them at 6 in the morning!!
We had to pay 6 euros a night for air conditioning which was needed but dissapointing as supposed to be all inclusive.

If you are wanting to be near a sandy beach like us then you will have to travel by bus into faliraki which when you get there is a very dirty beach anyway!

The food was more towards german taste lots of sausage and cheese. We ate out most evenings sadly, however zorbas which is a small family restaurant 5 mins away was amazing for food!!

The bar man at the evening bar was the only polite and english speaking member of staff so thankyou to him!

Rooms were very clean but very basic and old fashioned.

Had a nice break but was very happy to be home

We arrived and there was no one arround it seemed very empty. We swaped rooms so we could look over the front pool. The room was very basic with a fridge dating back to the 1970's, I would not have prepared anything to eat in the room.
The meals were okay and my husband went for seconds after every sitting, not much variety with the deserts.
Drinks were served in the small plastic cups which wobbled with the heat, one bloke had bought his own plastic pint pot.
You were only allowed to get two drinks each ,well we the English were, others seemed to come from the bar with four in each hand, the bar man could be very rude at times.
The place was full of Polish,Dutch,Germans who dont understand the word 'queue'.You had no chance getting a sunbed ,if you go just throw their towels off.
There wasnt even an information guide in the Hotel in English.
No entertainment.
No Sky TV.
No decent music
Internet very expensive to use
We went to the beach to the left of the Hotel, you pass a Hotel with big slides for the kids, which was more peaceful 6 euros for 2 beds and brolly for all day, the beach with the trees painted white!.. There arent any bars etc in the vicinity only a bus ride away the you are reluctant to pay .
We also got bit over and over again by mossies.
Glad to get home

It was with grave concern that we headed off for our holiday at the Filerimos Village Hotel in Rhodes, after having read the dreadful reviews on TripAdvisor.

I have to say, that after a wonderful two weeks at the Hotel we found all the staff incredibly friendly and helpful, the food, although different to "English" fare was excellent with a wide variety to chose from.

The apartment was cleaned every day and towels changed daily, with bed linen changed every other day. All public areas were cleaned, and spotless, throughout the day

The main pool was delightful (bit cold first getting in), plenty of sunbeds and necessary sunshades. OK. all drinks in plastic cups, but how sensible round a pool with most people in bare feet.

Yes, we saw the occasional stray cat and dog that the staff tried hard to keep away, although very difficult when guests are offering them tit-bits.

The only rare hiccups with the catering were at breakfast, when many guests seem to turn up at 9am. then maybe had to wait for particularly fried eggs and bacon, but with such an open service, you dont have to have it all on the plate at the same time. Take your time and keep going back.

Another potential grumble was the coffee machine, which if used on a one by one basis was fine, but when one individual collects five cups of hot water for tea, not only is there a delay whilst the replenished water has to come back up to temperature, but there is also a queue formed behind.

The majority of the guests were Polish and in general seemed quite a good crowd. There was never any problem as all the staff spoke good English.

The (new) animation team worked hard, and the many nuances of the language barrier was a source of great amusement. (ps I can't speak Polish either).

Don't be put off by the negatives. The majority of the guests appeared to thoroughly enjoy their stay. Indeed, in talking to the Manager, she did say they had a very high positive response to the guest satisfaction survey.

Enjoy yourselves.

If you are going to book this hotel DO NOT go all inclusive. for starters, there is little choice of foods at breakfast lunch and dinner and it seems to be the same foods every other night. Also, when the restaurant is closed you must pay for the food or you can eat the free biscuits! after about 6 days we started eating out and there is plenty of good restaurants a short walk or bus/taxi ride away.

the hotel has a beautiful setting with pretty bushes and trees round the pool etc. there was no entertainment at night as I was told the hotel hadn't paid the entertainment company for 3 months which meant a very boring time for us. the staff were very rude at times when you asked them questions but i can see why - it was the same staff all day and all night - they must have been shattered. As we were the only british family there we found that the staff really only liked the german and polish visitors.

If you are looking for a clean room and wish to eat out and create your own entertainment then this is the place for you. rhodes is a beautiful place with lots to see and do.

oh and the beer is terrible and the alcohol is the cheapest of brands - served in small plastic cups. so if you did drink the beer you constantly had to go to the bar as the cups are less than half a pint.

  • Liked — It was very nice to look at.
  • Disliked — The food and drink. Also the was lots of dirty cats and dogs walking round the reception.

Please do not waste your hard earned money by booking this hotel. We had read the reviews beforehand but just assumed people were being over fussy - THEY WEREN'T, it really is absolutely awful.7 of us arrived at 3 in the morning only to be told they were only expecting 6 of us so one of the rooms didn't have enough beds / bedding. It was sorted quite quickly though and we were in our rooms by 4am. Rooms were basic but clean and maids come in everyday and change the bedding and empty the bins. Sound good so far? We thought so until we went down for breakfast - the "restaurant" if you can call it that, is disgusting. The food is indescribable, nothing is labelled so you have no idea what you are eating. Your cereals are cardboard cornflakes or branflakes with gone off milk. The only fruit on offer for the whole week we were there was water melon and as for the other stuff on offer, I can't even begin to tell you what it was like. You spend all your time searching for the salt, pepper and sugar, and teaspoons are non existent, we resorted to stirring our cups of (disgusting) tea with knives!!! The staff are constantly arguing with eachother, and their "white" uniforms are so dirty I don't think they could have been washed since the beginning of the season. It doesn't matter if you are first or last in for your meal, it is always stone cold - who eats freezing cold cauliflower and broccoli (at least I think that was what it was)? We tried breakfast, lunch and tea for the first 2 days of our holiday but were so hungry by then that we gave up completely and took taxis into Ialyssos for all of our food for the rest of the week. It cost us an absolute fortune which we could ill afford. After all, if you pay for AI, you don't expect to have to spend so much money on eating out.Entertainment - non existent. The description on the website says May - October, so we would expect at least some sort of entertainment but there was nothing apart from 2 pool tables and 1 air hockey table. Nothing to do in the evenings whatsoever, how parents with young kids managed I do not know. Again, more taxis needed to go to nearest town in order to have something to do, meaning more money for drinks which again we were not expecting to have to pay for. My husband actually walked out of the main bar on the second evening as the woman behind the bar ignored him totally to serve a paying guest even though he had been standing there for at least 5 minutes. She was actually a very rude and miserable person which is commonplace with nearly all of the staff.I am a huge animal lover but even I could understand people getting cross with the amount of dogs and cats on site. One evening as we were waiting for a taxi to go out, one of the dogs ran out in the road and got hit by a car, I was so distraught my husband went to the reception to tell them, only to be told "It happens all the time, there is nothing we can do". Lots of holidaymakers went out to help but not one member of staff so animal lovers, if you do go here, be prepared to be amazed at the total lack of care shown for these animals. The staff did actually remove a dead rat on the steps leading to the "restaurant" one morning, but only after being told it was there by several different people. This is the first time we have ever gone anywhere all inclusive and after our experience here we have vowed never to do it again. We have been told by lots of people that this is the worst hotel they have ever stayed in but it has still put us off doing it again, it will be back to self catering in the future for us.The island itself is beautiful, everywhere is spotlessly clean. The people are friendly and the beaches and towns are fantastic. We would have had a great week, unfortunately it was spoiled by the "dump" we stayed in.
