The hotel is large very clean and the staff very friendly.Rooms clean spacious with aircon and mini bar (not stocked even for allinclusive).Large pool area with plenty of sunbeds and brollies. The food is exellent always hot and a good variety with barely any repartition over the week,no big queues to get food and always plenty of seats.
Bar service was good with not much waiting to get served.
Entertainment was average mainly done by the animation team and activities thru the day.
Hotel directly in line of flight pathso aircraft noise at certain times of day can be heavy but you get used to it and it`s not to bad.
Beach cosists of gritsand and pebbles so not much use for a bucket and spade.
Few bars and tavernas outside hotel and fewmore in village about 5 minutes walk on the beach.
Rooms in the annex on the ground and first floor only have small balconies with room for just 1 table and chair.

Good points ----only 15 minutes from airport ----food good ---rooms good .
bad points ------entertainment----beach

Debi avid trip advisor member and reader.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel from 31-05-06 to 14-06-06 on an all inclusive basis with sunstar leisure, we paid £1132.00 some people had paid this for 1 week with other operators!
We were the only couple to arrive at the hotel at 2.30am and were given a room on the 1st floor (many of which have not been refurbished for some time and look well worn and tired. we were placed on the right side although a sea view we could also see the kitchen pipes!) not to worry we changed rooms the following morning moved to the newly refurbished 4th floor left side and fantanstic sea view and at least 2hrs extra full sun on the balcony early evening! (we recommend you request this area, the staff on reception we found most helpfull and friendly at all times). The sauna was exellent and prebookable at reception for private use it was always available. Maybe people didn't realise it was there (in the annexe) but hardly anyone used it. we did most days after swimming give it a try.

The hotel on the downside was not quite finished at the time of our arrival, the restaurant was not finished, workmen were still putting up trellis around the front of the hotel. Electricians were putting lighting around the garden trees. (don't touch them it's probably standard but they are held together with electrical tape and pushed into the dry ground!) The beach is not really what we hoped for, very narrow and very pebbly, (no actually cobbly). The sunbeds on the very windy beach are also payable 3 euros each bed and most stayed around the pool (which very nice and surrounded by a well kept garden) at the other side of the hotel. expect airplanes flying over very loud, very low and very often as this hotel is right on top of the airport (oh, use taxi for airport runs, cheaper than bus)

the lounge area is very clinical, almost 'waiting-roomish' and wait you shall, for bedtime, if you don't venture out (we went into rhodes old town most nights £9 euros one way plus spending) which could prove expensive as the entertainment was worse than poor (they did complete the stage whilst we were there). nice if you are happy staying 'on campus' doing nothing but sunbathe but really you'd do best to stay nearer the town. (which is absolutely gorgeous by the way!)

The food was fine, but the restaurant was more of a cafeteria, and a number of staff in there could have been a lot friendlier and welcoming. be on time for meals they close counters as soon as possible! and they dont let anyone in their way! see micheal in the lounge bar for the best personalised coffee, best service and local info on where to go (ps. Rick says happy fishing on your days off!)

For anyone who thinks they are going to the Electra palace Hotel. Beware!! It is not open yet. It has been closed for refurbishment and there is still a lot of building work being done. We were only told the nght before we were due to depart! We were assured that we were being transferred to another hotel of similar standard. The Blue Bay Hotel. Do not accept to go there. it is disgraceful.Grounds are dirty. Food is always cold. A microwave is at the end of the counter so you can warm it up!!! Pool is cracked and dirty on the bottom.Whole place in a delapidated condition. It took ourselves and 30 other holiday makers 2 days to eventually get moved to another of same standard and Facilities as Electra Palace that we originally booked. We were moved to Rodos Maris Hotel in Lardos near Lindos which was fabulous. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. The place itslef was excellently clean which is what you want when you go on Holiday.

My girlfriend and i went with Sun Star Leisure for a weeks break at the begining of October. We had an all-inclusive deal.

Room: Fine. We were in the annex and i don't think our room had been refurbed yet, but it was clean. Shower was nice. The room was close to the entertainment area, so when were recouperating after a late flight it was a little irritating but once we were over the flight it was fine. The planes are quite close overhead, but they didn't wake either of us up.

Food: The food was excellent, always well cooked and tasty. Cooked brekkie every morning didn't do much for the waist line, and the buffet style meant you could pick and choose. The theme nights kept you from getting bored of the food. My girlfriend is vegetarian and found she had limited choice (lots of chips) but she got by. Enjoyed the extra snacks laid on during the day, biscuits in the afternoon were very welcome.

Drink: The local beers and wines were fine, also enjoyed not having to pay for them :-)

Pool: Nice pool, quite chloriney but large and there was always a space or sun-lounger free. Didn't use the beach area

Entertainment: Neither my girlfriend or I got involved in the activities, but the ENTs staff were very friendly and really put a lot of effort in. The evening entertainment was amusing but take a pack of cards or travel games.

Surrounding Area: Not much going on in the immediate area, and we didn't go into Rhodes Town for entertainment (the sight seeing was good but too far to pop to for a few beers) but thouroughly enjoyed an excursion to Lindos on the boat. In Lindos, we ate at a place that is by the dock you moor at (there is a row of places set back from the small beach). Its a wooden place where everyone eats on the veranda. EAT HERE!!!! The food was fantastic.

Overall: Recommended. Don't expect the Earth and you will enjoy yourself immensely.

Hope this helps

After months of debating on hotels, we decided on the Electra Palace. I booked a superior room with balcony view. We arrived after a 12 hour flight and was told our room was not yet ready, that was expected since it was still before noon. When I asked about how long a wait we may have, a room was suddenly found. We were taken to it, it was not a superior room (no balcony) altough it had a good view, construction was going on above the room with ropes and scaffolding hanging from above in front of the window, and loud workers overhead. When I complained to the bellman, he called the front desk and we were taken immediately to a room down the hall. We had been upgraded to a Jr. Suite, which was great to have a little extra room, and a balcony, but the view was not as good as the first room. The balcony is only large enough for a small table and two chairs, I would not pay the extra for a superior room. We stayed an extra two nights at the Electra Palace, the staff is pleasant, the breakfast nice, the location is excellant, I would recommend the hotel to anyone. The rooms are very clean. The negative is only the construction which will be finished shortly.

We first stayed at the Electra Palace in October 2003, when we booked it as a very last minute package deal. We enjoyed the place so much, we decided to visit again. Second time around we booked direct and made our own flight arrangements, staying in October 2005. On both occasions we had "all-inclusive" deals.

The hotel and staff don't disappoint and they are consistent - the standards haven't dropped in the two years since we last stayed. The rooms are comfortable and the pool is great - plenty of room, so that you're not all on top of each other. There's also the option of hiring sun beds at the front of the hotel, overlooking the beach, rather than the swimming pool. It's worth the small cost. The restaurant is as you would expect for a large hotel, but there is always a really good choice of food and it's well prepared. They have theme nights from time to time and there is always the option of booking to dine in the "a la carte" restaurant.

The hotel entertainments team organise activities throughout the day and entertainment is provided every evening.

The only issue with this hotel is the location. On the plus side, it's about 10-15 minutes from the airport and costs just 10 euros or so for an independent taxi transfer. On the downside, the surrounding area doesn't have much going on. There are a few bars and tavernas in the vicinity and shops and "supermarkets" are a relatively short walk away. You have to go to Rhodes Town is about 10 minutes away by bus and taxi for any real variety. There are plenty of sightseeing opportunities.

As ever, the Greeks are charming and give you a warm welcome wherever you go. I highly recommend this hotel as suitable for singles, couples and families all ages. It offers great value and I can't fault it in any way.

We'd go again sometime, although I'm disappointed that it doesn't appear to be listed on the medhotels website this year.
