“Brilliant Holiday!!!!”
Reviewed 17 August 2012

We stayed in the Ialyassos Bay Hotel in June 2012 and had an amazing holiday. We arrived just before lunch and our room wasn't quite ready but they sorted us a table in the restaurant and during lunch advised that the keys were ready at reception. The hotel staff were very attentive and friendly and the aminmation team lead by Thomas did a great job encouraging people of different nationalities to join in the activities and mix. The food was very good and consisted of a hot and cold buffet with fresh salads, pasta and traditional Greek dishes, offering something for everyone. The reception staff help book coach trips and offer advice on places to visit as well as sort out your transfer. The staff really go the extra mile. The gardens provide respite from the heat or a quiet place to relax. We met some great people of all nationalities during our stay and the hotel has a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

Anyone who does not enjoy this hotel are the type that want exactly what they have at home, British pubs and pub food, so why bother leaving home.

Room Tip: We had a bungalow room in the gardens which is great for people with small children as it is quieter...

ok the hotel was very good, food excellent, blah blah, however how you can realy gauge a hotel, is when something goes wrong,,,,, and it certainly did for us, I was taken seriously ill, The hotel receptionists Maria and Mary-anne were wonderful, and couldnt do enough to help my wife and IJulia in the dining room, went the extra mile to assist us, they realy did help us during our extended stay, we are so grateful, and a big mention to the car hire guy, to start with he very honest, and offers the best value carhire, do not prebook with anyone else, service, and driving tips were superb, dont forget Public monuments are sometimes closed on Mondays, (careful which trips you book ?) this guy even took some bits to the hospital for us, (typical of this nice man) warning make sure you got your EHIC medical card, try to avoid the public hospital, we were lucky , we insured with AXA , via tsb bank, they could,nt do enough to help us, . finally best hotel we ever stayed in, plus the friendliest staff, ps Sophia, is wonderful and enjoys tesco own brand earl grey tea ! if driving to Rhodes town take parking tips from car hire guy for free parking,

Room Tip: both pool view and sea view very nice rooms,

My family have just returned from our stay at this hotel. We arrived early in the evening and our room wasn't quite ready, however after a quick drink at the bar all was sorted, good size room and very clean and bed very comfy. Found all staff friendly and helpful especially Julie at breakfast, she always had a smile and made my son feel very welcome ask her anything and she would answer if she could. Food was a little mixed and ok if you like pasta, for me vegetables were always too hard to eat and everything was a bit random, children (not just ours) struggled with food as there is no separate kids section, the choice is not designed for children, this is strange when during the day at the snack bar, there were ribs, pizza, chip type things, burgers etc so why could this not be incorporated during the main meal?. having said that we were told at the start if we struggled just ask and they would try and make you something different, however we didn't do this as at certain times in the restaurant it was so busy it didn't seem right, so we just made do, that was our choice and not the fault of the hotel. The animation team are great and really do their best with the facilities available, they always sit and have a chat with you and don't push you to do the activities. There are only 2 people serving at the bar so you do have to queue , drinks are average and can be quite sweet. 2 drinks per person requested however lots were ordering a round of about 12 and was given. Location is ok, bus easy to get too, beach is straight outside the hotel but you will need beach shoes as it is very stoney. We often went to the square further in the village and did see some great local dances and local festivals going on so very worth the walk. Weve met some great people at this hotel and did have a great time, tHis hotel is very clean and staff very friendly, location is good the food lets it down but don't dismiss it as an option.

Have only just returned from a 7 night holiday with my family and we all absolutely loved this Hotel - the negative comments from a small minority really are pathetic and only highlight that some people should not be allowed out on their own - never mind visit far away shores on their quest for a McDonalds world tour (other fast-food outlets are available)!!
Anyway, the Hotel is spotless, the food is very very good and caters for a wide taste (but if your taste buds request other delights, the staff and chef will cater for it - just ask, don't whinge about it after you get back) and the staff all deserve praise for a well run Hotel. The entertainment staff are also excellent - yes, the pool becomes a mecca for a bit of fun at certain points of the day - but there are other areas to relax and still catch the sun....snacks and drinks are available throughout the day but you may find that certain nationalities tend to pile their plates sky high so be quick!! it is not the fault of the Hotel - just certain people obviously prefer to be ready for Armageddon at all times with a full stomach...
A big thank you to all members of the staff at the IB Hotel - an amazing holiday rounded off with a friendly and great social atmosphere. Met with some very special people who also deserve a big thank you and the last night entertainment medley was a memorable experience for those of us who took part - you know who you were and a big thank you - but, just in case - Nik, Dave, Henrick and Dutch the Hunter (Elvis had left the building)....Chris, Clive, Adam and Toms (UK Tom and Dutch Tom!!) - cheers also for the laughs during the day - and to Thomas the entertainment guru - keep up the great work :-) Paul 'Van Dyke' Graham

Room Tip: We utilised the junior suite - which is just a big room with a fantastic king sized bed and then 2 t...

My husband and I have just returned from our 2 week stay at Ialyssos Bay with our wedding party of 18. The hotel accommated us all close together in the spacious bungalows and throughout our stay made us feel very special as we were being married on the island at Kalithea Spa. When possible they accommodated our party together in the dining room and the food was good quality with plenty to choose from. The rooms were spacious and the whole hotel was kept immaculately clean. The entertainment team were friendly and fun and there was always plenty to do. The hotel is in a good location just a short walk to the beach and in walking distance of a good selection of bars, shops and restaurants. We would recommend Patty,s bar and Greekland Taverna where we held our wedding reception. Rhodes town is a short bus ride away and is definitely worth a visit. A beautiful island, very friendly people and a hotel where you are made to feel at home. Thank you for all our special memories and all the special touches for our wedding day

Room Tip: Book a bungalow

Have just returned from a weeks stay with my hubby. Hotel rooms were fine & cleaned each day. Found the food to also be fine..you don't go to Greece to eat McDonalds??? Good to try other food!! Hotel staff very friendly & helpful as was Claire the rep. We hired mopeds (something we we unsure we should tell our children on our return but then the youngest is 22 now so old enough to understand the dangers :-)). We thoroughly enjoyed it apart from getting lost & consequently a little sun burnt ! Hired a car also to drive to Lindos. to be honest you are probably better off doing the boat trip from Rhodes. Felt very safe & able to go out & about. Rhodes town is good during the day but also as good & a little cooler at night so easier to walk around, 'beware the dreaded British time share people on the streets'. We did the glass bottom boat 2 hour snorkeling trip, thoroughly enjoyed but spent a while trying to work out which boat/rep would be better but they both go to the same caves anyway :-) & perfectly okay.
Evening entertainment is as one other review put it 'pure cheese' but can be funny. Not really our cup of tea so make the most of the cooler evening in a trip to Rhodes. The bus is fine from the main road. A good experience. The little red trains both in Ialyssos Bay and in Rhodes town are a good way to get an introduction to the area & helps you get your bearings. my only gripe if one, would be the pool area, we didn't use this once during the week as found it too crowded, with reserved beds etc. It would be a good idea to invest in a slightly smaller, quieter pool on the grass area to spread people out a bit. Beach was more our thing though even if a bit stony the sea is lovely. A bonus of a quick transfer can have its down sides of airplanes flying low on approach to landing :-). all in all a good relaxing holiday...

My wife and I took our two grandchildren, aged 15 and 12 (boy and girl) to the Ialyssos Bay for the first time. We had a Garden Studio Suite which was really nice and spacious. It was cleaned and towels changed every day. The main double bed was 6 feet wide and the two other beds were normal 3 feet adult size. The singles were in a seperate part of the room. Overall a very comfortable room, in a lovely quiet garden, about 100 yards from the main hotel. The hotel itself was clean and bright with a lovely spacious 'public' area. The receptionists we encountered were friendly and very helpful. The restaurant hostesses, Julia and Sophie, were fantastic and helpful and when we told them of our grandson's allergy to eggs, they called out the head chef, Manolis, who took us, and our grandson, around all the food on display, telling us of any egg content. He did this on no less than three occasions. He was great, and a lovely man to boot. Now to food.. this was buffet for all meals and was varied, tasty and a good selection. This was after all a 4 star Tourist All Inclusive and we got what we expected. We've stayed at 5 star hotels and 2 star and some no star and this hotel was a good Tourist 4 star in our view. The drinks were a little limited, but again, up there with most 4 star AI. Our drinks were ok and the Blue Lagoon and Tequila Sunrise Coctails were fine. The 'Punch' was a bit bland with a hint of Creme de Menthe. The main Barman, Vasilis, was great. Loved him to bits as he made me speak Greek and this created some fun. He can, however, speak English just fine, in case you are worried! The beach is of sand and pebble and is about 100 yards from the hotel proper, but our kids loved it just fine and so did I.The hotel Pool is far too small for the size of the hotel and it was sardine packed all day, with loud music and activities. Not for us, but it was, for a lot of people. Very AI Family resort style. All in all, enjoyed our stay, the kids had a fantastic time. This was the 5th trip with us to Rhodes and and a diffirent hotel each time. They said they wouldn't mind coming back to Ialyssos Bay, and so would we.

Room Tip: Garden Rooms furthest from the hotel are the quieter and spacious.
