Just returned from a great week at the Ialyssos Bay Hotel in Ialyssos on Rhodes Island Greece. We had the all inclusive option and the food was fantastic lots of selection. The breakfast was served from 7am – 930am (buffet). Lunch was from 1230-230pm (buffet) and Dinner 630-9pm (buffet). The staff were excellent very attentive, friendly and quick to tidy away your plate when you had finished. In the restaurant you were not allowed to go in with swim suits on or sarongs, proper dress was required. We used the snack bar by the pool area a fair bit and this was open from 10am -6pm, you were able to get drinks all day, local red and white wine, coffee, tea, soft drinks and fruit juices and of course alcoholic drinks. Snacks at this bar were served between 1030am-12noon and 3pm-530pm. The main bar which we did not use really was open from 6pm – 2am. There was entertainment that started on the 15th June which included organized pool activities for those that wanted to participate and also evening entertainment.
Pool- There were plenty of sun beds around the pool area some with comfortable cushions but not enough cushions to go around, which was not a problem for me as I used my towel. Make sure you take a towel for the pool or the beach as they do not provide them and will charge 1.50euro per day. We bought a couple there for 7 euro each. There was a large swimming pool and also a kids pool. Pool is open from 9am-6pm.
Rooms-The room that we had was a sea view room and was really large and spacious, nice balcony with table and three chairs. Plenty of space to hang up clothes in wardrobe and also draws. Housekeeping kept room clean and bathroom clean. Excellent air conditioner.
Beach- The beach is a sandy beach where the sun bed and umbrellas were then was pebbly down into the sea. As you swam out it was pebbles for a bit then went Sandy again and you could stand up was quite shallow further out. Beautiful to go into after 35 degree heat. The sun beds and umbrellas were 4 Euros each per day and were charged by an elderly couple down on the beach not operated by the hotel.
The entertainment called Animation were excellent and the guy Sean who was in charge was excellent, and very friendly.

Room Tip: Stayed in a sea view room which was nice and quiet.

We chose this hotel as last year we spent one day here for our cousins wedding, after seeing how well they were looked after we straight away decided this would be where we would come to get married. The hotel completely went out of there way to help us with everything, everyone was so friendly and the hotel is beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone the food is amazing, the rooms are beautiful and clean and the animation entertainment team completely made our holiday especially Sean and Ellis who were amazing and became great friends of everyone in our family. My husband and I will certainly be returning here as soon as possible and I know all my family feel the same.

We got transfered from The Doretta Beach as it was full and the obvious 'Oh dear what are we going to get here?' fears come in.
No problems at all.
For what you pay, the food, hotel, everything are well worth it. The Animation team work well and hard, Sean and his gang do well.
Buffet was fine, if anybody complains that the food is not adequate, then I'm sorry, you need to go an pay more money to meet your 'high' standards. If people found the buffet not suitable, they were allowed to get some plain chicken and chips done for them without any problem.
Snack times morning and afternoon were 'OK' too. The hotel did try and vary these nibbles, some good, some not so in my opinion (that's not a complaint I know what I paid for and got it!)
I know it's pot luck what the other hotel guests are like when you arrive and I would say we got lucky as there were some very nice people we met from all nations! This obviously makes for a pleasant stay. Family from Liverpool wedding party were a decent bunch, Tommy's family from Scotland, Karen and Ian from Northampton to name but a few!
The staff were all very good too, so all in all, a great time, a nice resort and a nice hotel.
Location! Right at the far end of the resort, just turn right as you hit the road that leads to the beach and everything is along the way. shops, bars, restaruants if you want a change!

Funnily enough!! There were loads of celebrities staying the same time as us!! Jonathan Pearce, Jackie Mason, Miranda Hart, Johann Cruyff, Wayne Hemmingway (Waiter and part time barman!!!) Alfred Marks, John Prescott, oh and me! Phil Mitchell. :)

Room Tip: We were in one of the bungalows so cannot comment on main hotel rooms! Bungalow was roomy, spotless...

If you don't have big expectations, this hotel is fine for one week. We get corner room with nice bathroom and balcony with sea view. Room wasn't to comfortable coz of dirty orange carpet with a lot of dark spots on it. I think charladies didn't vacuum the room...even once! We handle it coz we didn't spend a lot of time there :)
We choose all inclusive option: so...qiute big choice...but a lot of dry food (for example: meat, fish) & definatelly to sweet drinks. Good thing is you can eat and drink as much as you need all day long ;) Btw. restaurant and bar service is really nice, helpful- great people!
I was delight with big and full of fresh flowers garden and really big pool. You will find a lounger for yourself even if you don't get up at 6 am ;)
The animation program is great! Everyone can find some activity: darts, volleyball, water polo, aqua fitness, tennis, mini golf and so long. Evening animations close to the pool are also really funny :) I reccomend it a lot! :)

Hotel is located close to the sea (Iallysos beach is long and full of stones- don't forget your special boots ;).Windy beach is great place for surfers. It's also located close to the capital of the island- Rhodes. You can get there by bus in 15- 25 minutes. It's really worth to see!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are better than others, coz are quieter. If you wanna get rest don't take rooms fro...

Excellent holiday. We liked this hotel very much. First impressions were that it was a bit out of the way but don't go left out of the hotel doors up to the main road, go right, past the tennis court. When you reach a big orange sign saying "Patty's bar" you can go straight ahead to the beach, or turn right to go down a road which runs parallel to the beach. The further you go down this road the busier it gets. Lots of nice restaurants, if you fancy a change and a few nice bars, plenty of shops and places to hire quad bikes and scooters. Cars can be hired in the hotel next to the restaurant entrance. The food generally was excellent, lots of variety and plentiful. Take no notice of the professional nit pickers, it is good, though steamed bacon and cocktail style sausages did not fit in well with the rest of a very nice breakfast !! The two ladies running the restaurant, Julia and Sofia are brilliant. They run a tight ship and it works well. Our room (544) was excellent, clean, spacious enough and very quiet, set back from the hotel pool. Our balcony, also spacious, overlooked beautiful gardens with pink blossom on the trees. Hotel staff were generally helpful and accommodating. The beach is mostly pebble but absolutely fine. You are on the final approach path to the airport so planes do come over regularly and low, but after a day you don't notice them and from first hearing them to not we counted 20 seconds so no big problem. My only criticism was the bar in the hotel was poorly staffed with very frequent queues. We drank mainly Sangria which was in a big silver bowl and you just served yourself, so never any queues there !!! The animation team were good. Shaun, et al, tried very hard to make your stay enjoyable. At first I thought "not for me" but we ended up most nights watching them and the guests having a good laugh with karaoke and numerous competitions and guest singers etc etc etc. Overall good fun. As someone else commented our rep Vicki was fantastic. Vigilant and very helpful. Check out the leather shoe maker half way up to the main road. You could miss it if not observant. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: The quietest rooms are the furthest from the pool and hotel as you would expect. Our block was circa...

We have just come back from a two week holiday at this hotel, all members of staff bar one were amazingly friendly and helpful. Now the one i'm talking about is the lifegaurd !!! it seems if your british your not even allowed to smile in the pool without her blowing her whistle let alone have fun. She was a constant pain in the back side for the whole holiday but if she took a liking to you (ie any other nationality ) you could do what ever you want and when she wasn't blowing her whistle she just sat there on her phone. If your dare go for a drink at the bar she'll either take your umberella or your sun bed mattress so beware the prowling lifegaurd.
The hotel itself is very clean and very well maintained, we stayed in a bungalow which was very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated, i can't fault the rooms at all. The pool is a bit on the small side but nothing really to moan about just get up early if you want a good spot by the pool.
The food was good with plenty of choice and if there was a day when there was nothing i liked i just told the lady on the door and she got the chef to cook me something i did like ,
Now iv'e read a review on here about the animation team i e sean being rubbish let me put you straight !!!! Sean made our holiday he was proffesional hard working and very funny,he came in after the other animation team decided to leave, he single handedly run the entertainment for 3 days till the rest of members joined him and he did it with style, He was a laugh a minute and very entertaining keep up the good work sean your a legend thank you !!
all in all a very enjoyable holiday & hotel
would i go back yes ( if sean's there and the lifegaurd has gone )
also special thanks to arthur ( pool bar )

Room Tip: garden view bungalows very spacious and quiet and also same price as the hotel rooms

great hotel, clean and tidy with very friendly and helpful staff for the most part.
Food was good and plentiful but a bit boring, excellent lunches but a little lacking in imagination were it comes to breakfast and dinner.
Unfortunately they banned smoking in the pool bar on the last day we were there so that nonsmokers had all the tables in the shade while the smokers are now only permitted to use the first row of tables in blazing sunshine whilst being in danger of water polo balls descending on to the tables, this is the only reason we will not be returning to this hotel otherwise it was an excellent holiday.
