“Extremely nice stay”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

It was our first time in this hotel and I have to admit that I was a little disappointed at first. Our room was in the second building and I noticed that there, the reception-hall was pretty big, but extremely old fashioned. We had booked a superior room with three beds, but the room and the bathroom were surprisingly small and very simple. On the other hand, the balcony was large and offered a nice view on the sea. During our 2 weeks stay, my estimation of the hotel grew more and more each day. First, the staff is wonderful, always smiling, willing to help you at any time and try their hardest to make you satisfied. The buffets, breakfast and dinner, offer a very large choice of different foods (besides greek meals, they also have for example and italian or asian night, so the choice varies) and the waiters are always kind, helpful and very well organized. Both the pools areas and the beach are fantastic and we had a good w-lan access in the whole complex (including the beach !), without paying because we booked a superior room. Even if it's a family hotel, our times at the pool were always pretty calm and relaxing, even if we had to wake up early in the morning to reserve our pool chairs, otherwise it is almost impossible to find one. This year, the hotel had a great animation-team, both for children and adults. The good thing about it was that they weren't too insistent on what concerned the activities, If you just wanted to relax at the pool, they wouldn't try to persuade you. But the programm was great: beachvolleyball, mini-golf, waterpolo, soccer and table-tennis tournaments, aqua-gym and zumba, stretching, but also nice and amusing cocktail games at the pool, a daily quiz game and a nice evening show every night. Besides, there was a mini-club and a mini-disco for children, so they don't get bored after a few days...so at this point, I really want to thank the whole team, especially Zach and Anna, because I thought the trip would be pretty boring for me (no friends, no parties), but you saved it, so thank you !! :)

Here we are again, three weeks at Sun Beach Resort Complex in Trianda Bay. The Hotel has been our second home for many summer vacations now.
Best Hotel in Ialyssos, we have tried several of them.
The weather is warm and windy, excellent climate.
The Hotel is situated at the beach and in a village called Ialyssos.

The Hotel is divided in three buildings. Sun Beach 1 is named Helios and has sea view. Across a small road, lies Sun Beach 2. This part is named Olympus. Sun Beach 3 is a timeshare Hotel. The Hotel is mostly fully booked, so room changes from Olympus to Helios are difficult.

The staff are willing to help us all the time, starting with Mickaela or Vassilis in the reception. Always smiling and greet you every time they see you.
Behind the Reception you find a fantastic booking office with Marianna and the chief in office. Their door is always open and they try to make all the guests satisfied.

It might be a good idea to book breakfast or/and half board before arrival; the travel agency’s can offer you a better price.

The buffets, both breakfast and dinner, are both international and local. They also provide and make food for people who are allergic to wheat.
The breakfast buffet also won a reward for their Greek breakfast. The staff, Maria, Stamatis, Dikaia , Nico and the others, are friendly and trying their best to make you pleased.

The hotel has got several awards also this year, Children’s Award, Hospitality Award and Blue Flag (clean beach and water).
This year , Stefanos was working at the beach. Working hard all day, but always smiling and patient.

The Hotel has begun an upgrade, starting at 5.th floor at Helios. Looking very promising, all brand new.

Around the Hotel, there are many different stores.
You will find it is cheaper shopping here compared to the city of Rhode. From your Hotel, it is several good restaurants in walking distance. If you have been staying in the area before, check if your favourite restaurant has changed their chef. That can be a surprise!
Recommend all to take a day off from the sun and take a walk in Ialyssos Old Town, you find it just behind the main street.

... and thank you, Anastasia, for fresh flowers in our living room :-)

I've been on this holiday, and have to say I was a bit disappointed. It is excellently located, right to the beach and all that, BUT. it says that the hotel that has wifi network that works fine. What it doesn't stand is that you have to pay lots of money for wifi network. it works also very poor in the rooms, you have to be at the front desk.

This is my 8th visit to Sun Beach and I shall certainly return, again. The resort is close to shops, restaurants, airport and most importantly the beach. If you are lucky enough to get a sea facing room you will be rewarded with a magnificent view. The resort aggressively sells time share to new visitors and will always show you the best sea facing rooms in an attempt to secure your hard earned money. But once you return as a time share visitor you will not be guaranteed the room you want. In eight visits I have only been lucky enough to get a beach front apartment once. The hotel is very busy during June, July and August which places a lot of pressure on the staff who always try their best. The rooms are average by hotel standards but I have never had anything bad to really complain about. As I said at the beginning of this review, I shall probably return again.

We are extremely satisfied with services provided by the hotel! We spent 11 days there and very day was special! The hotel is 4 star but the service is real 5 star.We are a married couple and we enjoyed our stay a lot!We liked the location, very close to the airport, very cheap to get there, also very close to the city of Rhodes, only 15 min.by bus.The staff is very friendly, they greet you every time they see you, everybody is welcoming and nice. The reception staff used to help us in any situation!Spiros in the bar makes nice cocktails! My husband started windsurfing course at the windsurfing station just in front of the hotel on the beach. So if you would like to start doing windsurfing Sun Beach Resort is an ideal place!

This is a nice Hotel and close to the airport. It's not that close to Rhodes town, but then, it's cheaper than places like Ixia , although you may find yourself spending more money of food and travel. A large complex so it's quite difficult to write a comprehensive review.
My experience was goo, picked because of price . I've travelled to Rhodes Approx 25 time and know what to expect and this hotel was as expected. Rooms are clean but quite small. Rhodes is hot so you may want to pat for air-con.
Pool is a nice size and the town is close by with shops, bars, restaurants etc.
Hotel is close to the beach but not a stones throw.
It,s a safe place for kids and has a football court and playground for young children.
There are buses into Rhodes town which are fairly in-expensive.
I would recommend fully inclusive in Ixia if you do have a bit more cash, you'll save in the long run, especially if you have kids. I'm not sure if you can get a view of the see from this hotel, I didn't, it's quite a built up area.
All together I had a pleasant stay and I cant really see any reasons to fault it.
I would say if it's your first trip to Rhodes you may miss out on getting a real feel for the island here , you maybe better being closer to Rhodes town, or If your young and looking for night life then Falaraki is a better choice. I stayed here on a family Holiday and was very happy and relaxed. Nice friendly staff as expected on Rhodes and good all round service.
Tips...
Get a cab from the airport , they are easy to jump into and cheap.
Take high factor sun cream - Rhodes is very, very hot - even in May and Sept.
Get a plug in repellent they work great , also buy it in Rhodes, the locals know what works !
If you don't like the room ask to be moved - the Greeks seldom have a problem.
Go out to eat - Restaurants are great value and the food is great !
By the local Beer, it's very nice and allot cheaper.
Try to spent a couple of days in Rhodes town and the Castle, it's absolutely out of this world.
Go for a night out in Bar Street (Orfanidu St) Great fun ! 18 - 40????
Watch the roads, they drive quick and don't like stopping !
If you want food at the airport take it with you - trust me
Make sure you are insured in any transport you hire !
Do not pick up little gifts left on tables in bars etc, this is'nt a problem but you will end up buying rubbish.

Hope this was helpful :)
