Having booked the Forum Beach some months ago, I, like many others was seriously worried that I may have made a huge mistake judging by the dreadful comments on Trip Advisor; we went away expecting the worst but hoping for better.
We always make the best of our holidays regardless, and things have to be pretty awful for us to complain; thankfully there was no need here.
I am not saying that everything is perfect because it's not, but it is so much better than a lot of the comments would have you believe.
We started off in a room one block away from the main pool (911) which was great because the pool area is without doubt very noisy, large room, great (free) air con, cleaned daily; not long after we arrived we requested more coat hangars and a new light bulb, both were sorted before the day was out. Reception staff are great.
There are queues at the bars, but it is not too bad and the staff work their socks off, quality and choice of drinks ok too.
Having been at the hotel for a week we bumped into Nadia, the hotel manager, a lovely person who knows that not everything is perfect but works really hard to make your stay a good one; as we are a couple with no children she offered to move us to The Residence (a sister hotel - adults only) we declined because we love to be on the beach and it is literally just over the road from the Forum (handy because you need to reserve a sun bed by 8am 'ish if you want one) at that point she offered us a studio right on the beach which we accepted and it was fantastic, what a view! thanks Nadia.
Now we come to what appears to be the biggest bone of contention in most reviews, the food!
If you want burgers, fish fingers, chips and the like go to Butlins or similar, don't go abroad. Germans don't come to England expecting German food, French don't come expecting French food................etc !!
There is a good selection of food here and every evening there will be a choice of different meats, fish, pies and pasta, along with various vegetables, rice and salads; food is always well cooked, hot and tasty; I agree that the choice of sweets could be better, usually only fresh fruit and ice cream, but quite honestly we didn't have room for pud anyway.
Pedro and his restaurant staff work really hard to keep the tables clean and ready for new arrivals and are almost always smiling despite the fact that some guests can be rude, messy and wasteful! Oh, and every evening has a theme too, so the staff dress in costume to match.
Breakfast is also good; a selection of cold meats and cheese, cereals and yoghurt, or if you prefer, bacon, eggs, sausages, toast etc.
The staff at this hotel are great and if something is not quite right they will always try to help, treat them with respect and you will receive the same, to many guests are rude and unfriendly, just try to be nice and have a great holiday. We did.
