This was the old Golden Bay complex exclusive to German clientel.
now availible to other nationalitys ,it still has a majoity of german guests
though the old towel senario does not apply here it has a certain decorum
larger louts and idiots are not tolerated.
Food is exceptional and the taverna on the beach is great.
Rooms are modern an comfy ,staff are excellent and nothing
is a any trouble no matter what!
Great beachfront location 3 bars Taverna Chinese& main Resteraunt.
Its so funny to watch The Germans charging for the afternoon Tea And Cakes@
Dont get in their way or you could be flattened in the rush,
Great Hotel this is our 2nd stay and will be back next year.

Having been to this before and saying I would return. I did so with 2 friends who had never been before and they were both as impressed with the standard of all aspects of this complex as myself. Since 2 of us have disability problems it was great to now see a lift to restaurant thus not only helping the the less able it was also great for younger guests with pushchairs as well. Every age group is well catered for and all the staff treat you very well and are always polite. Feel like a massage. Go for it. Really good.

Room Tip: Choose the best you can afford

This was our first trip to Rhodes and it didn't disappoint
The hotel was very clean and reception was very smart. We got tot eh hotel after dinner had finished though! The rooms are, unusually, in blocks remote from the main reception etc. this wasn't a problem though and the rooms were pretty 'standard'. All looked OK and seemed to work fine, TV was dreadful though for English speakers - only 2/3 channels available but that is not why we were there! We were on the ground floor right opposite one of the three swimming pools which meant we didn't use the balcony much as the world seemed to be walking past it! Beds were really hard and uncomfortable but the maid service superb!
Swimming pools were brilliant, very warm and clean and pool bar was set well. No toilets near the pool bar though! Beer was fine but mixers very sweet, spoiling the spirits a little. Wine (on tap) was appalling!
Food was fine if a little limited and repetitive but you could always make a meal up from the available choice. Very salty food though - be warned, don't put salt on anything until you have tried it! The all inclusive part is OK to a degree but food was not available all day long, just at meal times and this included ice creams too. A little disappointing this one as sometimes a quick nibble is great mid afternoon!!! The Al a carte restaurants were very limited and were basically serving variations of what was available in the main restaurant.
Entertainment was mixed. The daytime team were brilliant (not that we joined in) but very keen and friendly. The evenings were disappointing though. Some shows were in a 'theatre' well away from any bar and toilets and hence we didn't see much. A couple of evenings were around the bar which was much more fun!
The setting of the hotel could not be faulted - right on the beach - pebbles though, you do need beach shoes!
Generally speaking a great holiday and other reviews on here do give a good picture too.Would I go back there - probably but not for a while!

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms are much better for the view!

We (party of 6) stayed at this hotel for a week. The rooms - superior, seaview - ( building 1, third floor) were adequate, but definitely not recently renovated.

Here are the problems that we noticed:
- our bathroom reeked of sewage. Every day, all the time. Opening the window helped a bit, but then tons of mosquitoes entered the room and stung us.
- we only got liquid hand soap located at the bathroom sink, nothing else. We asked for shampoo/ shower gel for the shower, but they did not have any and offered another bottle of hand soap.
- the beach is ok, but as soon as you get close to the water and in the water, there are rocks. They really hurt your feet, especially if there are some waves. You can buy special shoes to help with this problem from most shops.
- the food is really bland in the buffet restaurant. After 7 days (of which we ate at the a la carte restaurants twice) we were glad to not have to eat the same thing all the time. The non-alcoholic beverages are terrible.
- no free internet anywhere in the complex (not even in the reception/lobby area)

- Now, the really bad part: the employees. We had a bad experience with two particular employees. Because we went all0-inclusive, that gets you the ability to go the their italian and greek restaurants once during your stay. We did the reservations as requested (be there at 11 the day before, because at 11:10 all spots are taken). The first day we tried (at 11:10) there were no more reservations available. The second day we got confirmation and were happy. However, when we went to the restaurant, the maitre who is supposed to seat you looked up our room numbers in a list and did not find us. We are six people and there is no way that we all misunderstood the confirmation from the reception that we got the day before (we even picked the menu at that time!). SO, the maitre does not find us and his reply is, and I quote, "not my problem" after which he turns and leaves :| .

We then go back to the reception where the same receptionist that we made the reservation with is there. She claims she does not remember us (although you could see from her reactions that she in fact, did know us). After arguing for 5 minutes and trying to claim that we had not made in fact, a reservation, she booked us for the next day, but with the same attitude of the maitre from the restaurant.

Just so that you can stay away from these two people, the name of the maitre is Lazaros Parakevas and the receptionst was a woman with dark hair and a mole on one cheek.

This kind of service was surprising for us, as most Greeks we interacted with at other hotels, other shops and just on the street were very nice, helpful and polite. And interactions such as this can really ruin your vacation.

So, in short, if you can stay away from the non-buffet restaurants and don't ask too much from the reception, you should be fine. This review may seem overly harsh, but there are also good parts: the landscaping, the clear water of the beach, the entertainment. The location close to the beach and to shops is also good. In the buffet restaurant, the service was good (especially an older gentleman George I think was funny :) ).

OK, time for some true British honesty!!

The hotel and it's facilities are fine. Rooms are adequate, air conditioning satisfactory, maid service very good and there is a fridge in each room which is always handy. My only real complaint is the fitness centre is terrible, old, rusty, broken equipment that is more liable to do you harm than good, it should not be included in any of the listed facilities in any brochure or website. I attempted a session but gave up after 20mins and hired a mountain bike for the week. Rating 7/10.

The reception is well staffed, they are are always very pleasant and very helpful. Rating 9/10

The beach is shingle and pebble but if you take sea shoes it's fine. Never had a problem getting a sunbed as long as towels were out by 8.30am, but that's to be expected wherever you go. It is directly on the flight path and there are up to 30 flights a day, but considering each one lasts about 7 seconds it doesn't really impact you. Rating 7/10

The animation team work tirelessly to entertain and keep you occupied from 11am to late in the night. There is never any pressure to join in, if you say no they move on. The daytime activities are better as they are the usual beach volleyball, darts, football, aqua aerobics, waterpolo etc etc. However the evening entertainment is another story, a real lack of quality, one or two of them have some talent but the others leave a lot to be desired. For example, Lord of the Dance night, 2 pairs of tap shoes between 6 dancers, the rest wear trainers, say no more! Rating 6/10

The drink is not good! The alchohol is ok, the usual large measures of spirits but even if you drunk it all day it wouldn't affect you! The beer is fine, I'm a lager drinker and can honestly say it's very drinkable, shame you only get a third of a pint per glass! The soft drinks are dreadful, the very cheapest money can buy, we were a party of 9 ranging from age 14 upwards, we tried everything and mixtures of everything, but ended up drinkiing water during the day.......................at an all inclusive!!!!! The bar staff are very miserable, never service with a smile! Rating 3/10

Now to the worst.....................the food! I have read many of the reviews on here and honestly have to question other peoples standard of living! Our group contained people with a variety of eating habits but we all agreed the food was appalling! I cannot complain with the volume of food and the variety is ok, but the quality is awful, bland, no flavour, mostly under cooked and rarely hot. The Maitre D has no idea what he's doing, never says 2 words to anyone and never smiles, a waste of space! To prove my point we asked the 5 teenage boys in our party if they wanted to do a trip one day eg. a water park, the overall response was to ask if we could go out for some decent food one night, we ended up going out 4 nights out of 7! We all agreed the ingredients and produce must be the cheapest the chef can find, nothing was fresh, even the bread! Most of the fruit and veg had come out of tins! Finally, if you like spam and luncheon meat, you wont go far wrong! Rating -10/10

I feel I must qualify my review with some background so you don't think we are snobs! Our group consisted of 2 'normal' families who have all done lots of travelling all over the world, staying in a variety of accomodation on various budgets, so our expectations were not high.

In summary, the hotel should offer room only basis etc. as the facilities, beach, pools and cleanliness are fine. There are also some beautiful restaraunts and good bars within 500 yds of the hotel, which gave us the true greek culinary experience and salvaged some of our taste buds!

If you have booked and have the opportunity to cancel please do so!
