“Faultless Bliss...”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, there was absolutely nothing to complain about during our recent 1 week all inclusive stay 9th - 16th July 2014.

Accommodation & Grounds:
We had a beach front, sea view villa and my word it did what it said on the tin - stunning! Clean, modern & cosy, beautifully furnished with outstanding sea views whilst being a step away from the pool. The lovely maids are thorough with their cleaning & don't leave a smudge! We watched the sunrise over the beach from our bed each morning - gorgeous! Just to note, the bed was very firm but we had absolutely no trouble dropping off each night.
The grounds are beautifully kept by the gardeners and the flowers are lovely! There is also the chance to take part in daily yoga, stretching & meditation under the pagoda during the day.

Staff:
Wow! Exceptional staff like never we've experienced before! They would bend over backwards to make your stay truly special, with special gratitude to Nektaria the waitress & Sakis the barman, whilst the lovely George patrolled the beach! Even in the event of becoming unwell, they called a Dr to the room who arrived within 10mins.

Food:
Exceptional quality again & endless choice! Beautifully prepared, cooked & presented and we didn't struggle once to find anything other than a plateful to eat! Top notch grub!!

Entertainment:
There was entertainment provided every night on the terrace, although we were already aware from previous reviews that it was a bit hit & miss for younger couples, but classy all the same.

Pools, Beach & Sun beds:
Both pools are absolutely stunning and they never came close to feeling at all overcrowded. The beach provided free use of sun loungers to the resorts guests only, of which George patrolled. The beach was definitely stoney & so we highly recommend taking water shoes to avoid being giggled at by others whilst trying desperately to cross the stones to the water! Don't let the stones put you off though, it was almost like a little private beach. The lovely waitresses serve you from your loungers at both the pools & the beach. It's such peaceful resort there is no poolside music, however there is a small amount of music in the background from the poolside bar. Sun beds by the pool are so comfy, but you need to be on the ball to reserve them in the morning towels are provided from 8am (sometimes earlier). Again, the pool areas are all spotless. At night the pools light up, with tiny coloured lights that make it look so pretty. A real unique touch to this resort. We sat and enjoyed a cocktail as the sun went down.

WiFi:
WiFi is available free of charge in the lobby area. However, there is a charge if you wish to access it anywhere else in the resort, including poolside, rooms etc. There are two computers to use in the lobby free of charge also, however, the connection / signal to the WiFi in the lobby was very temperamental to connect to. Although we were grateful for time spent away from our phones, the couple of times we wished to upload photos etc in the evenings, this was our only gripe & caused great frustration. Plus, it meant that many people congregated inside in the lobby area all on their phones instead of sitting & enjoying the evening entertainment, views & drinks etc.

Thomas Cook / Car hire:
Having read many poor reviews of the transfer situation prior to our trip, we decided to hire a car so therefore cannot comment on this. However, it took just 30mins max to drive from the airport to the resort & was very straight forward to find with a quick glance at the map (Nb: Avoid Holiday Auto Car Hire due to them conning us out of 100 euros at the airport for fuel!!)

To conclude, our stay was outstanding & by far the most superior hotel experience we've had so far. We were sad to leave & wished we were staying 10/11 nights. We cannot recommend Port Royal enough...I promise you won't be disappointed if our experience is anything to go by!

Room Tip: Our room was '1004' and had undisturbed & central beach front / sea views whilst also be...

My girlfriend and I both visited this hotel from 9th July 2014 to 16th July 2014, and overall we had the most amazing time ever. The hotel is absolutely amazing and I couldn`t fault it in any way shape or form, the staff were all exceptionally polite and helpful all speaking very good English with the main Bartender Andonis being a right character, the food was incredible with a full continental and hot breakfast buffet served every morning, an `american style' buffet for lunch and the choice between the buffet or the A la carte for dinner with a wide range of drinks, cocktails and snacks included on the all inclusive. I would say the nationally mix at the hotel was 50% German, 40% British and 10% other (which proved interesting with the World Cup Final being played whilst we were staying there).
The Location of the hotel was great, by far one of the nicest places in Rhodes with the small town of Kolimbia providing dozens of tourist shops, bars and taverns, the beach was beautiful and immaculately kept being on the doorstep of the hotel.
However... we booked our trip with Thomas Cook and unfortunately had nothing but trouble. Both flights were delayed by an hour or more. We opted for the `priority' bag option which guaranteed our bags would be first out when we arrived at Rhodes airport, we had to wait 45 minutes after everyone else on our flight had got there bags before we did. The Rep at the hotel failed to turn up to set appointments which caused us to be unable to book some of the excursions we wanted to, she also had simply no idea of what the excursions involved and really just wanted our money the `Lindos Live' excursion which we were told would be a very short journey on the boat turned out to be a 5 hour round trip with only a 2 hour stop in Lindos, meaning we left the hotel at 7am and didn`t return until 7pm when we were told by the rep we would be back early afternoon. If anyone wanted to go to Lindos I would advise that you travelled by bus, which we were told by the rep were `uncomfortable and unreliable' when really they were very comfortable, air conditioned buses that were incredibly reliable. The other excursion we went on was `Chalki and the Butterflies', we were again up early and left the hotel at 7am, arrived at the Valley of the Butterflies which really wasn`t anything special, we then got onto a very dodgy boat to the Island of Chalki which was absolutely beautiful, however once again we didn`t arrive back at the hotel until 7pm. So my advice is to completely ignore any excursions organised by Thomas Cook and do them yourself, it will be far cheaper and much quicker.
But if reviewing the just the hotel as previously stated it was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone, just don`t book with Thomas Cook whatever you do!

Room Tip: All rooms are exactly the same apart from obviously the suites and the difference between a garden v...

My wife and I have recently returned from 2 fantastic weeks at the Port Royal. The location, accomodation, food, service, staff all excellent. Our rep, Molly, is also worthy a mention as we thought that she did a super job. The welcome meeting was just the right length, informative without being rambling and she was always available at the hotel when she said she would be.
The issue that I have has already been raised by others on Trip advisor. The hotel has a bit of an identity crisis, it's not quite sure exactly what it wants to be. My wife and I went all inclusive, as were many others but, some were also half board and we and others who we spoke to, found this a little confusing and inconvienient. An example, some drinks, one of which was orange juice, was not available at the bar as part of the AI deal and so had to be paid for but, it was ''free'' if it was in a cocktail. Also, you could drink as much orange juice at breakfast as you liked, it just doesn't make sense. Identity crisis me thinks!

Room Tip: Our room was number 501, very near the main pool and quiet.

The hotel was nice, all staff were helpful (except 2 ladies on reception). Overall we had a great time, relaxed, the food was great and the staff were friendly (with the exception of the receptionists). It seemed on reflection that the hotel couldn’t really decide what it wanted to be i.e. all inclusive / half board / B &B. This was evident in a number of ways:
• It was all inclusive until 11pm, anything afterwards you had to pay for
• You only had access to 2 restaurants in fact to choose from, the gourmet restaurant was only open one night a week for lobster night, for which everyone had to pay. The Gourmet restaurant remained unused for the rest of the week, which seemed to be a bit of a waste
• The drinks menu options were random, there was a lot of choice, but it wasn’t clear why some drink which were all inclusive were priced at say 6 euros and others were at the same price but not included…?
• The neighbouring hotel seemed to be a hot spot for political rallies or almost an 18/30’s hotel as we could hear the rallies / pool music a fair amount of the time – we were pleased to have our rooms away from this hotel.

Thomas Cook travel rep was poor, didn’t really sell the island at all, just gave us some paper work about the trips and said read it.

Having said the above, overall we had a good time

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the noisy hotel next door
