“FANTASTIC, BEST HOLIDAY WE HAVE HAD IN EUROPE”
Reviewed 6 September 2010

I would recommend the HV to anyone with children, we stayed 25TH AUG TO 4TH SEPT in a swim up room on the activity side.
All the staff work really hard, the HV is spotless, rooms comfortable, bathrooms had a bath as well as two showers, my 8 year old likes having a bath rather than a shower, so she was really happy. Our room had the sun all day, lovely sun loungers and the jacussi worked.
My 8 year old only went to the kids club twice, she enjoyed taking part in the family activities during the day, she especially enjoyed the high ropes, she went on four times, CAMERON was great.
The entertainment in the evenings was brilliant , DAVE, CRAIG, KAYLEIGH, CLAIRE AND GAVIN WORK REALLY HARD.
The food was really good, lots of choice, both my daughters enjoyed going to the snack bar. We went to the Italian one evening this was really good too, The restaurant staff were really friendly.
We used the local buses twice to RHODES TOWN AND LINDOS, no problems had seats both times and very reasonable.
CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO ANOTHER HV OR BACK TO HV RHODES.

Where do i start,we arrived back last night after a week at the holiday village and we feel we have just stayed in a borderline 6* hotel,we had a swim up room which was brilliant, the room was cleaned to a high standard every day as was the whole complex. The room was very spacious and had an excellent air conditioning system.
The food was excellent, something different every day,and the choice was excellent also, the children had their own area to choose their food from which i thought was fantastic, they even have special plates and cutlery for the kids.
The entertainment team were spot on,they worked so hard every night and gave such fantastic performances, wonderful singing and dancing, there were also a couple of acts brought over from the uk and they were brilliant.Dave,Gavin,Chris,Craig,Kayleigh and Claire worked so hard to keep everyone entertained. They did a smashing job working with the children, all of the children loved them all,and im sure ur with me when i say if the kids are happy we are happy.
so many amazing little touches, drinks and canopes with the managemnet on ur last night, sandwiches and drinks in the fridge in our room when we arrived because we were too late for dinner, the management team seeing us all off onto the coach at the end of the holiday and waving us off, truly amazing.
all the staff were friendly and hard working, the kids club is fantastic.
i have nothing bad to say about this holiday it was possibly the best we have had in europe and especially rhodes as this is our 6th time to the island and will definatly be coming back and will be staying here.
A big thankyou to Carl and all the team for a fab holiday and will see u next year.

In short this was a great holiday from start to finish. The staff were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble, they made us feel very welcome.
The childrens entertainment was excellent and the team really worked hard. My 9 yr old loved the wavelength club and enjoyed the activities he went to and was eager to take part . A big thanks to Reece and Kat to name but a few!
The i5live team were superb and had energy in bundles. The i5kids shows were good and the adult entertainment was of an equally high standard. The team truely worked very hard!
We stayed in the Delux part of the complex which is a little bit more relaxed than the other areas but not to far (two min walk) to get to the activity side for all the fun and games. Best of both worlds, if like us you want a little piece and quiet sometimes.
As we ate mostly in the Cosmopolitan resterant in the Delux area I can only comment on this -
Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, too many to list. The breakfast chef was great always happy and smiling as were all the restaurant staff.
Dinner had a wide choice of hot and cold starters, main course a little hit and miss but this is purely personal taste.
Desserts and selction of pastries were belt buldgingly good! To sum it up a good menu served by welcoming staff.
Lunch was served in the main restraurant but we had snacks that were avaliable from the foyer and ate by the pool.
The rooms were of a good standard and always clean, towels always changed., bed very comfy with crisp sheets. Others had had issues with lack of hot water but we had no problems at all so luck of the draw really.
The fridges and morning trays were not replenished daily by hotel staff unlike other all inclusive accomodation we have stayed in. These litttle touches would have been the icing on the cake but were not essential.
The pool was vaccumed regulary and pool water tested. I know some people have commented that they didn't see anyone vac but unless you got up at the crack of dawn , like my husband, you wouldn't have! There was an issue with loose tiles lifting from the the floor of the pool and this is one thing the hotel does need to address before next season.
We are looking to return next year as we had both a fun filled time and came home feeling relaxed!

Just returned from HV Rhodes. From the outset I hate package holidays but my family love them and that's all that matters to me. This review is just to offer some tips on things that have not been covered to date. In summary a top holiday, all the recent reviews say it all, quality food, talented hard working entertainment staff, all friendly and if you have kids they cannot fail to enjoy the holiday.
Tips: Dinner get there around 2000hrs, not so busy and you will be finished in time to watch kids show (just). Eat inside. There is tabassco sauce but you need to ask for it
The Gym: Excellent and in good condition, could do with a tension ball and a matt.
The Escape Plan: If, like me, you need to get away from the tedium of the pool, Rhodes Town is easy to get to by bus, but arrive 10 minutes early to gurantee a seat and buy ticket for the return journey in the ticket office where the bus drops you off . Beware of the Time Share sales team by the taxi rank before you enter the old town. If you have young children or disabled people consider getting a taxi to the top of the town and walk down.
There is a bar on the beach called 'Sexy Billys' that serves proper beer, walk past the Thompson hotel on the beach and turn right. Beer is not cheap though; went here with a couple of top guys. There is not much in the local area, though the local shops are cheaper.
Climb the mountin opposite. This is a must which I did with my mate, you get a sweat on and it is quite hard work but so worth it, the views are brilliant. Suggest, keep walking to the church at the top and then return to the bar which is between the mountain top and the church, we had the best beer of the holiday here! Reception can help with the route to the base of the hill, open the gate and follow the gravel path. The activity side is designed for kids, so you may spend most of the time here, pools are fine. Did not go to the relax pool. We met some great people here and would consider returning.

We've just returned fron 1 week (25th Aug - 2nd Sept) staying in room 2103 which is a family swim up room on the activity side.
Travelled with my partener and our 2 sons aged 9 and 15.
TRANSFER
took about 30 minutes on an air conditioned bus. We were accompanied by a rep from first choice who was nice.
CHECK IN
very easy. Asked to fill in a slip with passport numbers etc. Then given our room number and taken by a porter, with our luggage, on a golf buggy to our room. Porter carried our luggage in for us.
ROOM
Lovely. Very nicely decorated with a modern feel. We had a large queen bed in main part of room and 2 single beds in other seperated by a sliding partician door. All of our beds were very comfy and all had a memory foam matresses. The room wasnt the largest of family rooms weve stayed in, but was certainly big enough. There was plenty of storage space with a wardrobe and loads of drawers and shelves.
There is a safe which is payable loclly. We thought this was poor service in a 5 star hotel as the safe is free inHV Egypt and that is 4 star!
The bathroom was big. We had a shower cubicle and bath with another shower over that. We never had any problems with hot water even with 4 of us showering after each other. The bath however, takes ages to fill even half full. There was a shower wash dispenser in both shower and bath and also a soap dispenser at the sink.
There are sign not to put toilet paper down the loo but we took scented nappy bags so no stinky bins!
There were patio doors to the sun terrace which also had a half door if you had little ones. The terrace had a table and 4 chairs, 2 lovely comfy sun loungers and a fab clothes horse big enough for drying all of our towels and swim stuff. The steps down from terrace to pool had an amazing jaccuzi. The pool was 0.8m deep from side so was fine for us but could be harder with toddlers.
We had sun on our terrace unil about 2pm every day. After that we went to water park where there are plenty of sun chairs with parasols.
FOOD
We loved the buffet resturant. Always plenty of choice for breakfast from pancakesand cereal to full cooked breakfast. Lunch always had full meals if required or jacket pots, salads, chips ect. Dinner had a wide variety every night with some nights being Chinese, Greek, Italian etc.
All food was hot and cooked lovely.
There is an inside and outside seating area and we never struggled to find a seat in either area.
DRINK
soft drink is named brands, fruit juices, water, tea, coffee etc are available from loads of areas. Slush is available on AI from bar by stage area, as is ice cream.
Alcohol is served in big measures. Cocktails on AI are lovely. Only downside, no cider!
WATERPARK
this is fab. Water slides are fast but fun, however, dont go on in a bikini. I did and ended up with my top around my neck!
The lazy river is amazing, large rings to sit in and waterfalls around edge to cool off in.
The waterpark is on activity side and only few minutes walk from our room.
KIDS CLUBS
both of our boys were in Wavelength group (9 - 16 yrs). They enjoyed going to this although only went to about 5 sessions. My 9yr old loved Reece the rep there. 9 yr old also did high ropes with wavelength. He loved it and Kayleigh who is a rep on there was excellent with him. She is a great all rounder.
ENTERTAINMENT
day time activities going on all day which you can join in or sit and watch. Aqua fit was in our pool every day at 12.15, this was great as Dave, entertainer, was always jumping in the pool to play with the kids.
Night time entertainers work hard. The Hi 5 Team are great. Dave especially. He showed my son all the DJ equipment and he was always very friendly.
They have a bingo game each night at the start of the entertainment which we won 297 euros!
CLEANLINESS
the rooms were cleaned ok. Bedding and towels were changed 3 times in our week there. Floors were washed only twice.
HEALTH
we had no problems at all. There were a lot of flies and wasps around but certainly didnt spoil our holiday.
OUT AND ABOUT
there is a mini golf over the road which cost us 14 euro for 4 of us. It was good but very hot there.
A little train picks up atfer 6pm every half hour which takes you in to town. Costs 3 euro for an adult return and 2 for a child.
Town has a street of nice shops and bars. there is also a fish foot spa. This is fab. You sit with your feet in a fish tank while the fish suck your toes and feet! It is a strange feeling but once you get used to it, its cool! They remove all dry and dead skin and your feet end up feeling so soft. Costs 15 euro for 30 mins and 5 for a child.
There is a horse and carriage ride which is lovely. The hotel reception can book it where the guy (George) will pick you up from hotel and take you all around town and back. It was about half an hour and cost 25 euro for 4 of us. George is really nice, he let our 9 yr old sit up front with him and gave him the reins to drive. This was my sons high light of the holiday!
STAFF
the Greek hotel staff are all very friendly, especially the resturant staff.
First Choice staff were all good especially Reece, Kayleigh and Cameron.
Dave from Hi 5 team is excellent.
Carl, customer relations manager is lovely. Very friendly and works hard.
OVERALL
we had a fantastic holiday here. The kids loved it. Always plenty to do and the place is lovely. We would return here and would recommend it to others.
Thanks to everyone there for a wondereful time, keep up the hard work, it does pay off.

This was one of the best sunshine family holidays we have ever had. We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived and had an absolutely fantastic time. Stayed from 18th August for 2 weeks with 2 boys aged 10 and 12. They met loads of friends and said it was the best holiday ever. Elder son joined the soccer academy during our second week which he said was great fun, and his dad even played in the adults football which is held 3 times per week (subject to paticipants) which in high season was fine. My husband also used the gym which had various pieces of equipment, but it didnt seem to be used much. We stayed in a swim up room for 4 in the activity area, which was perfect. Before we went I was considering asking to change to the relax as thought it might be too noisy, but this was not the case. You could join in with as little or as much as you liked and it was quite nice to have it close by. Also the bar, restaurant and entertainment are on this side, the relax side has the swim up bar during the day. We were lucky enough to have one of the working jacuzzis from our swim up room which was lovely. The rooms were nice, with a large bathroom and our maid did a great job, however you could tell when it was her day off as one day the bed wasnt made so well, just duvet thrown on. The food was nice, with a great selection for breakfast, from full english, waffles, pancakes, fruit, toast, doughnuts, cereals etc, what more could you ask for. Lunch a good variety of hot and cold foods in the main restaurant and the snack bar, also did various kebabs, salads, rolls, pizza, nuggets and chips. Evening meal, again a vast selection which didnt dissapoint. We tried to eat outside overlooking the stage so you could eat and then stay to watch the entertainment without feeling rushed to get out. Two nights were quite windy and you could hear howling all night where there was a draught round the door, so we had to close it with a towel stuck in the frame. Tried the fish spa which was a good experience that we actually went back again. Also went to Rhodes Town and Lindos on the (air condiitioned) bus, which was punctual, reasonable and had no problems getting a seat. We were sad to leave and would definitely go back. I think first choice were going all out to make this a superb holiday village and they certainly succeeded.
One negative I would say is that the pools could do with being cleaned regularly, never saw a pool attendant/cleaner once.

Hello and thanks for your post. We’re pleased your son enjoyed the Soccer Academy, it is certainly a popular activity. The fish spa is an amazingly weird experience! We clean the pools early in the morning to avoid disrupting our customer’s holidays. We hope to see you again soon.
