If you are travelling by car along the Lindos-Rhodes Road this is a recommended stop. Just after the sign to Tsambika Beach, coming from Lindos, a short drive on a carriage road ends by a parking spot i the mountain.

After 299 marked steps, you are at the top. It is recommended to do this in the morning, especially between May and September.

The view is worth the climb. If you get soaked in sweat after the climb, Tsambika Beach is only 5 minutes away by car.

It's a tough slog up the 299 (numbered) steps to the top - but well worth it. Little church at the top has a miracle performing icon. Childless women go there to pray. Any child is named after the church. There are even candles in the shape of a baby, with the wick coming out of their poor little head... We were lucky enough to be there when a child was taken up so the Icon could be thanked...
Fabulous views on the drive to the car park, even better ones from the walk. Plenty of places to rest and loads of horrendously fit people running up....!
Don't stop at the Panorama Cafe. No view and the grumpiest owner I've encountered in Greece.

On a recent return visit to Rhodes I made my second trip here and climbed all 300 steps once again. The steps are numbered on the way up with lots of benches on the way up if you needed to stop. The views at the top are amazing. You can see both north and south views if the island stretching from Falaraki to Lindos.

We took a taxi to the base of the climb and then took the 300 steps climb to the Monastery. The monastery is quaint but the view is the main prize fro making the climb. You van see for miles in all directions. The sunbeds almost 1000ft (984ft apparently) below look like dots.
The taxi driver said he would return in an hour as this was all that most people stayed. We asked for 1h30min and just took our time taking in the various views from each level.

It was a long walk up the 300 steps and not really for the unfit but we got a taxi half way up and then climbed the 300 steps from there. The views are brilliant and it is worth the climb. The monastery itself is very pretty but most signs are in Greek so I didn't learn much about it while there.
