Just back from staying a week at the lydia maris, had the best time.We were supposed to stay at the mistral hotel but this was not finished, but now glad it wasn't as we would never have had the holiday that we did.The food was to die for everything tasted brilliant. The staff couldnt do enough for you even the barman had your drink poured for you just as you entered the pool bar(well done Zach). The rooms were always kept very clean. We will certainly be returning.

I have just returned from a week at this hotel and had an excellent time. I had originally booked into the Mistral hotel which was not even open and was put into the Lydia Maris at the last minute so was unsure what to expect after reading some of the reviews.
We stayed in room 411 which overlooked the pool and pool bar and it had a lovely sunny balcony in the mornings.
I cannot fault a thing about the hotel, our room was cleaned everyday, the food was good with plenty of choice and the staff were excellent.
The bus stop was just around the corner and the bus went to Rhodes and Lindos, both of which are worth visiting. We took a day trip to Turkey which was enjoyable and something different to do.
We had an excellent holiday thanks to the friendly staff and the great company of other holiday makers who were there to have a good time. The mosqitoes had a good time on us! take plenty of spray with you.

Room Tip: If you go as a couple and don't mind a little noise from the pool bar then go for rooms 411 onwa...

We went there last year and can say it was not the worst place I have been but it was certainly not 5 * food choices were limited but what was on offer was always fresh and very clean, the staff really made the holiday they were so friendly the rooms were basic but clean, the animation in the evening was awful so we ended up sitting by the pool bar as it was much nicer, one night a week they have a greek BBQ which was amazing it would be fantastic if this food was on offer more as that was the best night

I was really looking forward to my holiday quite good reviews on here.
Please take my advice DON'T go.
Pool barmen fantastic they made the holiday.Ants and cockroach in room, no kettle, no iron awful hair dryer .
The food was horrendous and just warm, great for breeding bacteria.
We went out to eat at night as the food was so bad.Full of Germans food was for them.
On arrival the only all inclusive snacks available was dried pizza and hotdog dried sausage rolls that even the wild cats wouldn't eat.
The animation was one young man who was great but he had a hard job being the one and only.
The area is ok but much better places to see or stay a good walk from the beach not two minutes .
Well that's how it was .This the first time I have done this ,when there I spoke to the manger as she had sent a letter out to the guests stating as we were the last there we could keep our rooms free of charge ,that was in German in English we had to check out. Great hey.

Two week stay Sept 20012 → First off, on arrival, we were put in the room directly opposite the bar area which was,, noisy/toilet broken/shower hardly works. This would seem to be standard practice (If you are British?) Anyway, the next day we were moved to the other side of the block which was much better. Interestingly, the receptionist (as part of her auto-patter) declared “and now the holiday starts” (on our behalf)
Originally we were supposed to be moved at 12:00 then 18:00 etc,etc (day lost moping about) presumably the current residents booked a late checkout or something.
If you like to eat late then this may not be for you as the Germans all leap into the restaurant and devour everything in site as soon as it opens (evening time) Additionally, it would seem the food heaters get turned off prematurely some mornings and your eggs can be a bit chilly upto 30 mins before the end of the cooked breakfast timeslot.
Once we had our junior suite it was good – spacious / clean / nice towels blah, blah
Beer is Magus Magister (or something) and provided you wash the plastic glass it's ok and floweth nicely once you suss the self-serve pump. Every now and then the glasses would be really salty (Initially I suspected this was some kind of Greek attempt to induce Kidney failure / prevent punters from drinking too much etc)) which tainted the beer badly – Must be a cleaning residue?
The Mrs got really sick during the second week and spent a day in bed / became scared to roam (just in case) I went to the Chemists and tried to buy some pepto but they didn't know what it was so I bought a Greek version of Imodium (cost 16 bongos) this worked 'till we got home and then she got ill again...
In fairness I couldn't say whether the illness was brought on by wine / seawater or food – We didn't go in the pool....but we enjoyed/spent a lot of time in the sea. The lady in the Chemist asked which hotel we were at and when I told her she said it was good.
After the illness we decided to eat out every night (just in case) and found a lovely little (fairly priced) restaurant in the village.
So the all inclusive for week two was reduced to breakfast and beer (acrid wine for the Mrs when she was upto it) soon we started buying booze from the shop / stopped eating breakfast as well as it was cold.
The holiday could have been a bit bleak but Afandou beach / quad biking and visiting Rhodos a few times made up for it.
You are in an ideal place to walk to Afandou (truly beautiful beach) we walked up and down the full length of it several times. (out the hotel entrance turn left) The smaller little bays and coves (out the hotel turn right) are very busy. Afandou was more or less empty. Apart from one area (200m * 200m) where there was a cluster of Germans. The Germans stay put apart from the odd exploratory mission ~ or if they want to go and get naked (which they seem to enjoy at almost any opportunity)
So, several miles of emptiness / lovely sea to yourself. Beware walking to Afandou if you have kids etc as the German troop carriers / other traffic ignore speed limits /traffic regulations. When two troop carriers meet they can often drive one another off-road. This could be fatal for any innocent pedestrian as, often, the walkway/path is insubstantial.
In summation – we were really glad we went but I doubt we'll ever go back. Perhaps one week would have suited us better.

Stayed here from 13-20 October, and was very pleased with the trip. The room was clean and comfortable (maids cleaned it every day), and the food, served as a buffet, was nicely varied and a decent quality. Not always piping hot, but dishes were regularly replenished when getting near empty. I am vegetarian and found plenty to choose from every day. The all-inc beer and wine were good enough quality too. The pool was big and pleasant - never had a problem getting a sun lounger, even in mid-afternoon, but I guess October is quieter than summer months. The hotel is 10 mins walk from the nearest beach, although I'd recommend going another 3-5 mins to the next beaches along - much less pebbly and a bit quieter! The evening entertainment could be a bit noisy if you have a room by the pool/bar area, so ask for one away from here if that will bother you. It's easy to get a bus to Rhodes and Lindos from here too - the bus stop is less than 5 mins walk away. Overall I'd recommend it if you want somewhere that you can chill out at, and not worry about having to pay extra for food.

Room Tip: Maybe avoid rooms by the pool/bar/restaurant if you want an early night!
