I stayed here late July / early August as a single parent with my two young sons. Generally we really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming indeed - at reception both ladies were nice and helpful, and the restaurant staff were great. We loved the pool area - the swimming pool is a decent size with deep and shallow areas as well as a toddler pool. The food on offer was pretty good, both breakfasts and evening meals. The evening meal buffet usually offered something typically Greek as well as other main meals that were more broadly Mediterannean. The only downside of the restaurant I thought was that no natural light came in, so it could in no way be compared to eating in at a taverna for example! The rooms were not bad but not wonderful - I had booked a family room even though there were only three of us for the sake of extra space, but the room we got was only about a foot and a half longer than a normal room, and that meant losing valuable balcony space. Also it had a kind of partition which made most of the room very dark. I would therefore recommend not upgrading to a family room if there are just three of you - the extra expense just isn't worth it. On balance though, the hotel facilities, food, pool and proximity to village and beach made up for the slightly disappointing room.

Myself and my husband booked this hotel a week before - so was last minute deal and having read the other reviews found them to be fair with comments and opinions. On arrival at 2:00am - we were greated by a receptionist and shown to the lift with our bags and told which number (ie: no one there to greet and take cases for you) Found the room to be of good size and also the balcony which overlooked the main road with lovely views to the mountains and the sea in the background. We got there in the early morning - but there was still loud music coming from the main road - but thankfully when you closed the doors - this was reduced. We found the beds to be very hard and sometimes uncomfortable. The bathroom - although was clean - was very dated. We went to breakfast and found there was no toast option just bread rolls, ham (apparently - but looked more like spam!) boiled eggs that had been boiled for ever, some omelette square thing - which my husband spat out! (not like him - he usually not a fussy eater) and the german sausage - which looked awful. There was choice of cereals but not exactly cornflakes! Small selection of fruit which was sometimes warm. So all in all - breakfast .. not good ... my tip would be to take some tea bags as the tea is awful (if you like tea - it doesn't taste nice) This is something that I would do if I went back to this hotel. We went to the pool at 9:30am and there were no beds (it must have been a busy day) So we went to the beach where they charge you 4 euro each for the beds. Going into the sea was difficult as there were rocks and very pepply beach and hurt your feet - but once in - it was glorious. I'm glad we only booked b&b as talking to some other people - the evening food was terrible - but thankfully we didn't have to sample that as well as the breakfast (although they do offer you to eat in there at the cost of 10 euro each!) We found some lovely little places to eat - possibly our favourite was Caroselle (not sure of the spelling) .. lots of options to eat and nice food - but very big portions - all reasonably priced. We'd have two small beers each and food - and it rarely came to more than 25 euros. There's a place opposite called Nicos .. which the portion sizes were smaller - but food just as nice. We discovered a "Fast Food" restaurant - called the German Sausage and that was lovely. The owner is Greek and his wife is from London and she made us a Bacon and Egg Sandwich on our last day - which isn't on the menu - but was really lovely offer that we took up!!! The German Sausauge was very reasonable and could eat there and have two beers each for about 18 euros. Back at the hotel there is a bar on the evening run by Antonis who is very entertaining and made our holiday - he'd introduce you to other english speaking people and we've made some wonderful friends who we'll see in the UK and keep in contact with those that live abroad - again - this made our holiday very special. Antonis runs a Water Sports on the beach which was extremely well priced and we ventured on a few of his activities which was great fun! I'd also recommend The Memories Bar at the junction opposite the supermarket on the main street. Tolis and Kacey made us feel very welcome and we had a great time with them whenever my husband wanted to watch the football - great people and great service. The music however could be repeated continually and got a little boring towards the end of the two weeks - but worth going just to say hello and have a few drinks. At the hotel - the pool area was nice and we put our towels out before breakfast and then went and occupied them immediately (not like some - who did that - and came down in the afternoon after daytime activities). The pool I'd say wasn't very clean in the first week of our holiday but it was cleaned during the second week - so is acceptable and cold (which is what you needed as the weather was glorious and very hot!) The pool side bar was great too and certainly made up for not eating at breakfast! The barman is lovely and very friendly/welcoming and the food was good too. The only downside with food outside the hotel on the main street that the meat tended to be very salty - which I'm not used to (as I use no salt when cooking) so that was a bit of a shock and glad I'm not having my cholesteral checked on returning from holiday! The biggest disappointment we had was that we were unable to keep our room and weren't being picked up until 8:05pm so after 12.00 noon - your bags are just in reception and no sercure place to put them in - which I found a little uneasy. There is a room so you can shower - but that's tiny. When you book out too - they expect you to book out your Safety Deposit box too so we spent the whole of the day with our tickets and passports with us - which wasn't helpful. We went on a daytrip by boat to Lindos which was fabulous - it took two hours on a small boat to get there - only downside is there's no shade on the boat - so can be a bit hot in the heat - but not too bad when moving with the sea breeze. Getting to Lindos we discovered it was 47 degrees and extremely humid as it's protected by the sides of the island. There is also a massively steep hill to get to the centre of town - so half way up - we were encouraged to take a Donkey Taxi which is 5 euros each - but in that heat - worth every penny! On the return journey from Lindos we were able to swim in the sea i3 times in some beaches that you can only get to by sea which was magical and made the trip well worth going on. In summary the staff are very friendly at this hotel but there are improvements that could be made, ie: toast at breakfast and some variance to the food would be great (ie: scrambled egg instead of boiled eggs every day) The pool should have been cleaned more and it would be better to offer a room if leaving late or at least somewhere secure for cases. We did actually have a fabulous holiday - but hotel is definitely not 4 star - more like 3 at best - but on the whole - we'd go back with small improvements.

We are really disappointed of Niriides Beach Hotel. Deplorable hygiene, dirty toilets with cigarettes in it, … In the room, we found dusts that is several weeks old, dirty flour, dirty doors as well as dirty mirrors.
In the swimming pool you could find bunches of hair, bandages, mucus ... and the water was becoming green ... Well, an excellent bath for the development of infections.
Regarding the animation, we had the daily calls of the cleaning ladies shouting from one side of the building to the other: “Valentina”, “Maria” as well as “Marina”…
No clue why they where watering of the lawn in the morning wetting our towel…
In conclusion, we recommend you NOT to go in this hotel as it does not even deserve 2 stars!! Not even talking about the boring average food and the sea that is 800 meters away.

Myself, my Mum & my Mum's friend went just before the school holidays & we pretty much had the hotel to ourself! We were the only English people there but the staff were so friendly & helpful and catered to our needs.
Food was fine and I'm an extremely fussy eater and even I found things I liked! They weren't bothered if you took your own food in by the pool either (or they never saw if they were bothered).
Room was fine aswell. We were on the ground floor and had a decent balcony which looked out over the field and you could just make out the village centre in the distance. Was very quiet anyway.
Loved the beach and was an easy 5 minute walk down the road. We went on the smaller beach to the left of the main beach, so much better as it's sheltered and you feel so safe in the sea as you float alot and just kind of get pushed back to shore if you float around on a lilo.
Decent shops/bars/supermarket near hotel even though it's a fairly small village. We were entertained anyway and trips out to palaces such as Rhodes old town is an easy coach ride to get to.

Great if you want a quieter holiday anyway from it all but don't want to be secluded.
9/10

My Family and I stayed at the Niriides during August 2010 and loved it. It’s a smashing laid back and intimate hotel that allows you to relax.

The hotel is excellent value for money and I can’t stress this enough. Locally rated as a 4* hotel which obviously (to me anyway) given the price that you pay, would not compare to a UK 4* hotel.

The hotel is extremely clean and the staff literally do ‘work like Trojans’; all of them from the chef to the cleaners. Nothing is too much trouble, they are all extremely friendly and when you talk to them, they give you all the time in the World.

The rooms are basic and I would compare them to a UK Travel lodge; only cleaner and without the smell of stale cigarettes. The cleaners visit every day and do a fantastic job. We stayed in a Family room and the balcony is a little on the small side but we did not use it anyway. There was a TV in the room which we did not use as well as a Fridge which we did. Towels were provided and changed regularly.

The pool is fantastic, a great hub of social activity for the kids. There were only a couple of British families there during our visit but Children of all nationalities were playing together in the pool. There were no strict H & S rules being enforced like you see in UK pools so diving, bombing, lilo’s, and ball games were all played and allowed, much to the enjoyment of Children of all ages. The hotel has plenty of sunbeds and shaded areas, both on the concrete pool area and a well maintained grass area. There were no towels on sunbeds at 7 AM all though the sunbeds did tend to all get taken by 10 (ish).

The hotel is half board and the food won’t win any Michelin stars. But what do you expect, the food is value for money and there is nothing ‘wrong’ with it. If you are expecting English food then you will be disappointed (all though Chips were served on one evening). Breakfast is continental (rolls, cheese, meat, Fruit, yoghurt) and also a warm choice of hard boiled egg, omelette and sausage. Much of the evening food is described as Greek speciality and is well worth trying. There is also salad available as well as fruit, Ice cream and other deserts.

We ate at the hotel every morning and every evening and my only criticism of the food would be it is a similar thing every day and every night. We stayed at the hotel for a week and if we had stayed for two weeks we may well have started to eat out in one of many of the nearby restaurants.

Drinks are reasonably priced and pretty similar to UK prices.
We were extremely pleased with the Niriides Hotel and found this excellent value for the price that we paid. I would certainly go back if we were to return to Rhodes.
