“Holiday to remember”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

I visited the Golden Odyssey in June 2013 for a week with 9 of my friends. Before going we were a little hesitant as we had of course read previous negative reviews of the hotel and were unsure what to expect. However, I cannot stress enough to anyone thinking of visiting that the negativity should be ignored completely! We're all still dying to go back we had such a great time.
The rooms were basic but comfortable and were religiously cleaned every day. There was never a problem with rooms being too warm as the air conditioning worked perfectly. The food was lovely and the waiting staff were very friendly. The pool was always spotless and there were plenty of sun loungers for everyone. There was never a need to get up early to reserve loungers there was always enough to go around. During the day there was water polo and table tennis amongst other activities for all ages - not just the kids! The entertainment at night was always a laugh and again targeted all ages. The reception staff were very helpful with our queries and were always there if ever you required assistance. It was a short walk to kolimbia and also not far from faliraki either if one felt like visiting the bars/clubs of the area, only a cheap taxi ride away. There is also a small shop in the hotel that sold basic essentials you may need which came in handy when we didn't feel like venturing to kolimbia. The cocktails were divine and the friendly bar staff, Apostollos, Atonio and Michael were always a highlight of the night with their friendly banter and welcoming attitude. The holiday was definitely one to remember and we'd all recommend the hotel to friends and family! We'd all go back in a heartbeat and we hope to visit again some time in the near future!

We have just returned from a holiday at Golden Odyssey, it was a great holiday and booked for a bargain price! We went for 7 days all inclusive for around £400, there was 3 of us aged 19-21. The hotel was clean and welcoming, I have read many comments of people saying it was basic which is true, however most hotels in Greece/ Rhodes are basic! The staff were hard working and very friendly. There was a great atmosphere in the evenings and during the day entertainment was available for anyone who wanted to participate in water polo, water aerobics, darts, ping pong and more! Entertainment was provided every evening, there was also pool tables, air hockey and a few arcade games. Outings in the evening to bars in Falaraki and Kolimbia were offered as well. The food was buffet style and was quite similar, however for the price we paid it was better than expected, and the waitresses and waiters provided excellent service. The pool area was clean and there were plenty of sun beds and chairs available both in and out of the sun. We went on a boat trip to Symi which was a beautiful island where we had a tour of the island and lunch provided for 50 euros. The bedroom was spacious, with a clean bathroom where fresh towels were provided each day. The room included a double bed and two singles, a tv, a fridge and other basic essentials. We walked to the nearby Kolimbia on several occasions, visiting the shops and the beach, and on our final night ended up in a bar called Statues which had attentive bar staff and it provided us with some great entertainment with a youthful atmosphere. The location of the hotel was ideal, not in the center of it all but not a long walk if you wanted to experience more hustle and bustle. The Receptionists were patient and helpful and the bar staff, Antonio, Apostollo and Michael were welcoming, attentive, friendly and entertaining! We would definitely return and were very lucky to have got the holiday for that price.

First off let me start by saying we paid £500 for a 7 day all inclusive holiday each.
Me and my family have just spent 1 week in the sunny resort of Kolimbia.
Flights and transfer were really smooth, no problems at all considering it was a budget airline.
The hotel was very basic but clean. The pool side seating was random but comfortable, plenty of it and clean. Pool was cleaned regularly.
Our room was very basic but we only got showered and slept in it. Air con was fab and it had a safe. There was coat hangers in the wardrobe and the fridge was a God send.
Food was buffet style and it was the same everyday! We got slightly bored and ate out twice which was a nice break in our routine -the Taverna we did visit was lush and really good value for money.
You wouldn't,t starve but you may come home looking like a chip or slice of watermelon!!!
The entertainment team was entertaining, fun, lively and very friendly. They had morning aerobics, yoga, fun games, bowls and darts. In the afternoon there was water polo and evening entertainment started with a lively kids disco. That followed with some entertainment through until 11.30. Very family orientated.
Bar staff got friendlier as the week went on and we didn't see the other hotel staff.
We went on a boat trip whilst we were there and it was well worth 40€ each. Again it was run smoothly and we had no problems.
All in all it was a very relaxing and enjoyable week and you got what you paid for. If you need a cheap and happy holiday then I would recommend it.

I have just returned from a two week all inclusive holiday at this hotel, 10th July 2013 to 24th July 2013. We booked a Smart Deal (allocation on arrival) with Olympic Holidays.

Firstly the flight with Germania was great comfy seats on time and pleasant staff.

Transfer to and from the airport to the hotel was fast in a modern air condition coach, with a rep from Olympic giving advice and there to help people.

The Hotel was good, it’s very clean and the room we had was spotless. Clean towels everyday and the maid changed the sheets every other day. FOOD was nice (remember) that there are Russians, French, Germans and Italians at this hotel so British are in the minority. There where chips with lunch and the evening meal so there’s always them if you do not fancy the soup or the fresh salad or pasta, they usually serve fish, chicken, pork or turkey for the main meals. There is cake, fresh fruit and ice cream for pudding.
Maurice, Zola and Bianca (Animation team) do there very best to make your holiday fun and are always smiling and talking to the guests.

Neil the Olympic rep is great (that is if you want to know where is nice to visit or when the local busses run) if you want him to get sirloin steak and Moet & Chandon on the menu I think not. This is a Greek 4 star hotel and very nice but not what a 4 star would be in Spain, UK or Egypt.

We had a great time and would go again in a heartbeat, relax chill out have a beer and enjoy your holiday.

Yamas!

Room Tip: Main block has excellent air conditioning

We were on a family vacation at this hotel. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Most courteous staff.
Very considerate and give excellent service.
The place is clean and well maintained, the food is okay, can slightly improve, but the dining room staff make efforts to provide services and alternative dishes when a problem.
You should try, affordable all-inclusive.
Thanks to the team for the wonderful service they gave.

My sister-in -law and I have just got back from this hotel 19th June 2013. It is rated as a 4* but we think it 3*+. Hotel very clean, pool cleaned and pool area every day, food average, not a lot of choice, staff very friendly especially the bar staff Rossa who worked during the day and Antoinios & Apostolos who worked the bar in the evenings. The Animation Team, Moiz & the girls are lovely and they also work very hard. Each and every one of the staff work hard to help make you have an enjoyable stay. One word of warning, take a beach towel as they are not provided and also you have to pay for bottled water. You can only have soft drinks, wine or beer during the day other drinks are not served until 5pm.The beach is advertised on Olympic as within striking distance, no such thing,it is a good 15mins walk, we tried to walk it but we are in our 70's and gave up. There is a shuttle bus from the hotel but then one is clock watching, nicer to just stroll in your own leisure. If you do go book a superior room, much nicer than standard. A nice place to just relax but not in my mind a 4* I am use to.

Our family of 6 stayed at the Golden Odyssey for last few days of May into June 2013. This was a cheap last minute family holiday. The general feel was it was great but a little 'sleepy' still as so early on in the season. A little bit of a shame that things weren't up and running or all the facilities working. If open then it should be at full throttle. Only complaint would be the lack of tea / coffee available with machines often breaking down and the lack of diet drinks. Would not be put off for visiting again though.
