“Unique opportunity to stay at a unique villa.”

Hidden away behind the Ceramica Solimene, Villa Sorvillo proudly overlooks Vietri sul Mare with the bay beyond, rather like a postcard scene. From the villa, it is only five to ten minutes walk steady downhill to Corso Umberto, the main (pedestrianised) street in Vietri, far enough away from the busy SS18 not to notice the traffic. Although there are many pottery shops in Vietri, it is not an overly touristy place and indeed has a local and unspoilt feel to it, but with enough restaurants to try a different one every evening. A stone's throw away is Raito, with it's unmissable vineyard and a few kilometres along the twisty but spectacular coast road (if you're hiring a car, make it a small one!) is Cetara, little known by tourists but appreciated by many local people.

An excellent base for exploring Vietri and the Amalfi Coast is Villa Sorvillo. Certainly not what you would call typical villa accommodation, you walk into the entrance hall and first sight is almost jaw-dropping. It is more akin to a stately home with high vaulted ceilings and family portraits, adapted for the holidaymaker. It has space in abundance everywhere except the kitchen where there is a convenient serving hatch through to the dining room and steps up to a roof terrace where you can take breakfast. Three large double bedrooms and three bathrooms would ideally suit a mixture of 6 adults or children. Outside is a large terrace above the colourful, well-kept garden and the gorgeous view of Vietri and the bay.

Delgado, who looks after the villa for Orietta, the owner, is charming and honest and always on hand to help if you need him, but in an unobtrusive way. Orietta was always prompt in dealing with any little issues to our satisfaction, which allowed us to enjoy our holiday, and in fact was so helpful in arranging safe return to the UK of a necklace that one of us had left in the villa, for which we are very grateful.

We would recommend Villa Sorvillo to any discerning holidaymaker. Would we go back again? Tomorrow!

The Villa Sorvilla is a majestic home situated on a hill overlooking its beautiful gardens and the town and harbor of Vietri Sul Mare. There are lovely views of the sea and the mountains from every terrace and window. The villa is spacious. There are 6 rooms plus a large foyer and a loft with twin beds. Everything appeared neat and tidy. It was an easy walk to restaurants, beaches, ceramic shops, tourist information, etc. The tourist info. center is great and they speak English. We had some great and fun meals at Restaurant 34 and the Fattoria.. We hiked a trail close to the villa and were rewarded with beautiful vistas. We did not have a car but took the bus into Salerno where we caught the train to Pastoom and Pompei and the ferry to Almalfi. Also, you can catch a fast ferry from Vietri to Capri. Vietri was a great base for exploring the Amalfi coast as it had all of the services you needed without the tourist crowds. After a day of sightseeing, the villa provided peace and relaxation. The caretaker, Luigi, was very helpful in answering our questions and seeing to our needs. He also kept the beautiful gardens in pristine shape. Our stay at the villa made our trip to Italy all the more special. We shopped at Ceramica Juvenes for our pottery and found their selection lovely and at a good price point.

We loved everything about our wonderful week at Villa Sorvilla. The villa was perfect for us. We were also very happy with the location. Vietri is a great base for exploring all that the area has to offer.

“I believe heaven is just like Villa Sorvillo, in Vietri Sul Mare. A place we will never forget!!”

As soon as we had arrived at Villa Sorvillo we couldn't believe our eyes. My husband and 3 daughters, aged 19, 21 and 23 were amazed at the magnificent villa and the breath-taking views we had. There was so much space in the villa that you would get lost. The location was perfect, we could walk down to the town of Vietri which had amazing food, music and beautiful locals but then drive from 10mins to Salerno to a short distance to Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento experiencing the crazy Amalfi Coastal drive which was spectacular. The experience we shared in the villa will be one we will never experience ever again unless we return. Family came from Avellino (province of Naples) to visit for a day and were amazed by the beauty and the contents of this home that they will be booking for next summer. Luigi the caretaker is a very special, generous and goes beyond his duty to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you Orietta for having the faith and trust in renting your magnificent home to strangers. I don't know when but one day i hope it will still be there for us to travel from Australia just to stay at Villa Sorvillo one more time. Regards Rita
