“Great place to stay for hikers and outdoor folks. A real bargain on the Amalfi Coast.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 November 2009

We originally booked this hotel due to the positive reviews and were not disappointed. Our only problem was finding the place as the directions and location given on the internet were not accurate. ( I do find Goggle maps to be less than helpful. They show walkways a along the Amalfi coast as streets and roads. Get a real map as soon as you can!)

This hotel is 1200 feet above the sea with great views. It is about 4 miles from the town of Amalfi. You can drive (park along the road before getting to the town center or pay a fortune in parking fees) or take the bus into town. Amalfi is one of the better towns on the coast. Great old church there and good hiking possibilities. More nightlife than other small towns on the coast. Fast boat to Capri or Positano can be booked from Amalfi. Also easy to get to Ravello.

The hotel itself has lovely rooms with beautiful tiling. Rooms are spacious with sea views and the Bathroom is way above the usual European standard.

The owners are very helpful and serve a good breakfast on a terrace overlooking the whole coast. We originally planned to stay for two nights but extended it to 5 nights.
At 60 Euro a night it is a bargain!

This hotel deserves the good reviews it has received in the past.

The last day we drove around the coast to Sorrento. Not nearly as beautiful but certainly big and noisy. Not the character of the Amalfi coast we were looking for.

When a piece of hearth falls on earth this is how it looks like: the Locanda Ripa delle Janare. Ilaria and Pino (the owners) will make everything possible so that your staying in Furore will be unforgettable. Rooms are very clean and staff is really helpfull. Waking up with a bit of refreshing morning breeze and the view from our room balcony (see photos) it makes you start your day in the best possible, you can't think of a better one. The rest is even better. Breakfast is served on the terrace with amazing view of the "Fiordo" and the "costiera". Ilaria freshly prepare daily fantastic cakes for the joy of her guests. Ilaria and Pino will cuddle and take care of you during your entire stay giving you the best possible advice for everything you need. If you love food then don't waste your time and money with the wellknown places of the costiera or described in your guide, just ask Pino to reserve a table for you at his amazing restaurant Terrazze Cala Paradies in Marina di Praiano. The view from its terrace overlooking the seaside is amazing (see picture) and Pino will accompany you trough the flavours of the region giving you the best possible advice for your meal. If you try it you will be back for every lunch and dinner during your stay, promised! This is our second time at the "Locanda" but for sure we will be back every year. Few days at the "Locanda" coddled by Ilaria and Pino, will recharge your battery for quite a long. You can't find a better place to relax and spend you holidays. Andrea & Luciana

My husband and I stayed there 4 nights in 9/07. You really need a car here because it is several miles away from the other towns along the coast and not a place where you can stroll the streets.
However, the B&B is great. The rooms look exactly like the pictures with gorgeous tiled floors thoughout the rooms and terrace. The breakfast terrace/parking area is even tiled! We had a private terrace with a spectacular view. The staff is wonderful with friendly advice on directions and restaurants. Nice breakfast served on the main terrace again with the spectacular views!! If you can afford the higher priced hotels in the area, great but this one offers very nice accommodations at an affordable pricel.

Based on reviews on the Internet, we made the choise to stay in this lovely Locanda in Furore. Away from the crowds but near the places we would explore. Locanda Ripa delle Janare is realy lovely. Our room was spacious, furnished with beautiful Vietri tiles. We had a nice balcony with a magnificent view. The bathroom was a little bit small, but there was everything we needed. Breakfast was served on the terrace and was good. With nice cakes! Ilaria, who had at that time a 3 weeks old babygirl was so helpfull. Nothing was to much for her. The first morning she drove us up to the busstop, because we were a little bit late. At departure we received a pot of local jam as a gift. How nice.
After the first evening, when we drove with our own car to Amalfi town, we left the car at the hotel. The coastal road is not a road we like to drive, as Netherlands inhabitants. But the bus services are good. We never had to wait long for the busses.
We had a wonderfull time in Furore. Thanks to Ilaria!

After a deep research in the TA database + other travel sites, we decided to book this small hotel for our 10th anniversary of wedding week-end.

The place, Furore, is really fascinating, the hotel is located right above the amazing "Fiordo" which makes Furore so distinctive in the whole Amalfi Coast.

Sure you'll be far from the other renown Amalfi Coast villages, so maybe this is not the right place to stay if you plan to see them all, and if you want to be a bit "in the crowd". But Furore is definitely the place to stay if you're looking for the best view, and the best atmosphere for a romantic getaway!

The Locanda is not far from the renown Furore Inn, but it's totally different: small, extremely well-kept ,with a familiar touch and a lovely atmosphere. You will feel really welcome by the staff and, believe me, the home-made cake you'll get for breakfast is a must! (the breakfast will be rich of everything you can expect from a continental one, too).

Our room (Nasella) is not exactly what you'd call a junior suite, it's more like a standard double, in terms of dimensions, but it's so charming, well-kept and rich of nice details which show how much the staff cares for this "locanda" and for the good stay of their guests!

The bathroom is really wide, even more nicely decorated (with the beautiful Vietri ceramic tiles) and equipped with a Jacuzzi bathtub.

Consider also the Locanda is right near the trails which go deep down the Fiordo, which, if you like walking and you're not scared by the steepness, you will love: the old Cartiera and the fishermen village inside the Fiordo are something you have to see yourselves.

The Locanda staff has just bought, and is refurbishing, a restaurant down the Coast; it should be ready in weeks, but you can have delicious luch and dinner also at the 5-minutes away (by car) Bacco restaurant.

Maybe the best thing I could tell to explain our great stay is... that we can't wait to go back!

TheLocanda Ripa delle Janare is exceptional. A wonderful breakfast overlooking the sea. All the area is a wonderful place to relax. Our room had a beautiful view of the sea and countryside. Pino and Ilaria (the owners) are incredibly helpful and friendly and will meet any request with a smile. I cant imagine staying anywhere else when we visit the Amalfi Coast.
We spent two nights there in September and it was absolutely FANTASTIC. Breakfast on the terrace, if you stay in Furore amalfi coast, do not miss out on this experience.
