“it was good, but not the best”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

We went to the Azalea restaurant after trying nearly all the other restaurants in Tremezzo. It was a lovely evening so we sat on the decking on the lake (this was the first bad move - mosquito's or thunderflies kept us busy). The menu had a few different items on, so i ordered the mixture of lake fish. It was good, but nothing spectacular, and we had eaten at several other places that were cheaper, had better service and much better food. It was the small things that spoilt this meal. We had to ask for Grissini and bread - even though we were paying a cover charge for it. The table was a bit dirty and i had to change a knife.
i am not one to complain, but overall i came away feeling a bit let down, especially with how good some of the other restaurants were.

Decided to dine here aft reading previous reviews.
The restaurant provides very good value for the Tremezzo area. The quality of the food is very good. Attentive service and whilst from the outside the restaurant looks a bit dated from the outside the experience inside is very comfortable where you can easily enjoy conversation.
The table of 4 next to us were very particular about their food but where overheard a number times giving very positive reviews of their choices.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but did eat at the hotel one night during our stay. The atmosphere was lovely, with candles and piano music in the background. They also have a small terrace area overlooking the lake. We had traditional pasta and pizza, both of which were good. The house wine was great and overall the bill was not high. It is worth a visit.

We ate here on three occasions and that speaks for itself. Great food, good ambience and very nice staff.

Clean rooms, delicious dinner, busy road, average staff. You pay for what you get with this place. Tremezzo as a town is a jumping off point not somewhere to stay and explore. The hotel does well with what it has to offer. The wait staff left a lot to be desired. The fellow at the desk was nice enough but no one went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Wouldn't recommend it as a place to stay but would suggest for an off the cuff meal in a pinch whilst walking the shoulder road of Tremezzo.

Room Tip: Ask for a view but be prepared for noise from the busy street below.

This place was great! Some rooms have lake views, we didn't but the friendly staff, great location ( right across from the lake and a short walk to the ferries) and breakfast can't be beat. The breakfast alone would have been 10 euros each. Our only disappointment was that we found out too late that you need to make a reservation to eat at their restaurant across the street on the lake.

It doesn't get any better. We drove in from Switzerland to this charming town. Location is PERFECT in Tremezzo, walking from Villa Carlotta, next to ferry stop and has its own waterfront restaurant & bar! Shops next to hotel are open on weekends. We were amazed at the friendly staff in this family-owned hotel. The kitchen is first class too..amazing food. Enjoy some prosecco by the water as the sun goes down.

We went for 3 days to celebrate my mom's birthday and could not have picked a better place. Don't judge it bases on how it looks from the outside--TRUST ME you want to stay here in room 5. Take the ferry and tour Lake Como visiting all the charming towns and famous villas! Or hop over to Lugano for a visit.

The natural beauty of this tranquil place will stay with you forever. Try to avoid going in high summer season. Best to go late April/early May. Avoid Como city it's not worth it...

Thank you Hotel Azalea for an unforgettable stay! We will return. Tanti grazie!!!
