The pleasant restaurant's room, fully air-conditioned, offers immense windows with a unique view on the colorful cape of Bellagio and on the Grigne. The romantic terrace creates the perfect atmosphere for one unforgetteble evening.

WE were lucky enough to be staying at this lovely hotel and had dinner there our first night in the area. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. My favorite dishes were the deconstructed eggplant parmesan and the tiramisu. Both were light and artfully presented. We also had the lamb which my husband and cousin both enjoyed. I was full after the eggplant. Highly recommend.

First of all, we felt that english-speaking foreigners may not be very appreciated. Within two days, we called a couple of times and asked for a table; never was one offered to us as everything was fully booked. Surprisingly, we immediately received a table after we asked our hotel to call in Italian. Furthermore, it turned out that the restaurant was not fully booked at all when we arrived on Friday evening as multiple tables very empty.

Secondly, we ordered an extensive selection of first and second dishes. Unfortunately, most of them did not meet our expectations at all (e.g., ravioli with mozzarella di buffala were dry, truffles did not taste like truffles at all but rather woody). But the most disappointing experience was the unwilligness to accept our constructive feedback on the food. The waitress just smiled at us and told us that guests like the food and that we may not understand "European" food (by the way, a pretty broad description). As an "European", who eats out at least twice per week in similar or way higher priced restaurants, I am quite aware of what to expect from a restaurant. This was neither the case for the quality nor the professionalism. In particular the latter (unwilligness to accept feedback, smiling at customers, letting the customer leave the restaurant with a bad experience) is a "no go" within the entire F&B industry - a surprise to us that the waitress acted is such a way.

Probably one of the best restaurants on Lake Como.
The food is beautifully cooked and you have a good choice of fixed or a la carte menus.
The wine list is a good compliment and to the food wit an extensive choice across the different Italian regions.
It is worth booking in advance and requesting a balcony table as the lake view is second to none

La Darsena was a recommendation from our driver and also the concierge at the Hotel Tremezzo. Although amusingly, our driver suggested asking the concierge to make the booking as there may be a “different level of service”. I’m not sure but we went anyway.

It is a 8-10 minute walk from the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. Inside, a quaint terrace over the Lake with lovely views the preferred location. Service was polite and we have noted the staff in Tremezzo to trended towards young, friendly casual locals rather than the more formal service at Villa D’este.

Food was ‘fine’. The marinated lavarello tartare in a clear watermelon soup, refreshing and fresh. Lario’s delight was a sampler combination of some of the other seafood dishes on the starter menu. The balls of fish deep friend and ok. Salmon steak tender, smoked and perhaps just lightly poached and my favourite morsel on the plate. The marinated fish was rather tart and a love/hate affair.

La Darsena came recommended for it’s simple seafood. The monkfish however was somewhat overcooked and somewhat tougher than it should be. Having had monkfish several times over in Italy now was mildly disappointed but nevertheless accepted the dish. Umbrime cooked in ‘foil’ was surrounded with Mediterranean vegetables and was homely. Something you might have at dinner with your Italian in-laws and different to other restaurants around Lake Como which have been variations of sea bass, salmon, steak or lobster intertwined with pasta on repeat.

Our highlight was finding a half bottle of Antinori Tiganello for 60 Euro. The wine list here is very reasonably priced for Lake Como. The vintage year are not listed on the list but was our pick of the night. A tad young at 2015 but still perfectly enjoyable.

Tremezzo is not known for fine dining. But we’d recommend La Darsena for an affordable and enjoyable night. You can have dinner here for under 50 Euro each which isn’t particularly easy at this location!

This small hotel is a fabulous find. Ok so the rooms are small, but they are all well furnished with comfy beds and clean modern bathrooms. But the real find is the restaurant, where they do what all good places do - keep the menu simple but do the dishes really really well and keep the service top notch ! We will definitely be back for another stay soon 11
