There are plenty of lodging options on Lake Como, however there are very few reasons that one would need to stay anywhere else than La Darsena. This hotel is truly family-run, meaning that the person who checks you in also acts as the concierge and serves you breakfast in the morning. There is a certain level of accountability for the service experience that comes with this approach, and Ezio and his family really care about making certain that everyone has a great experience. We stayed in all types of hotels over two weeks in Italy and although some were substantially more expensive, none could match the service and overall experience that we had at La Darsena!

We stayed here for three days at the start of a tour around Italy. Lake Como is a stunning place to visit, and we definitely picked the right place to stay at La Darsena. From the moment we arrived, we were treated to friendly and always helpful staff. Room was a nice size. Breakfast was continental but substantial, and I can think of worse ways to start the day than breakfast overlooking the lake. Some reviews have mentioned the fact it's on the main road round the lake - this is hard to avoid, and with air conditioning and windows shut it doesn't cause a problem.

Wonderful little hotel doing a lot of things well. Very helpful, able and caring staff...the co-owner in particular. Location is hard to beat (Dining room balcony hangs over the lake and the boat ferry stop is a 2 minute walk). Food is very well done...breakfast and dinner. Spotlessly clean. Magnificent views. Parking is something of a hassle, would not recommend for kids and room could use a lounge chair, but a very well managed, and good quality way to enjoy Lake Como.
( Note:There are no grounds/lawn areas for this hotel...it fronts right on the street and the lake...great walks nearby and Villa Carta is a 5 minute walk...but once you are in the Darsena...you are there.)

My husband and I just recently returned from our third trip to the Tremezzo area, our second stay at La Darsena. All we can say is, molto, molto grazie to Maria, Ezio and Tiziano for another truly memorable stay with them. This establishment is top-notch in terms of service and friendliness, the accommodations are charming and spotlessly clean, the views STUNNING. From the moment we arrive to the moment we leave, there is not enough that this delightful group of people can't do for us. We feel more like family than guests. Rest assured that if you book a vacation at La Darsena - especially in a balcony room! - you will not be disappointed. This is simple beauty and gracious hosting at its finest. Thank you to one and all at La Darsena from Frank and Linda!

We stayed at La Darsena for a couple of nights from 23 March 2010.

Overall, we were very happy with our choice of hotel, wouldn’t hesitate to return there or recommend it. The place probably isn't the best for kids but ideal for couples.

I looks like whole hotel has been recently renovated. The hotel is small, 8 rooms if I remember, so don't expect the trappings and disadvantages of big hotels like a pool, gym, impersonal service or hordes of pushy tourist. There is no bar as such, but I'm sure that any reasonable request would be satisfied. La Darsena is Italian for The Dock. The hotel has a small jetty and is right on, actually over the lake.

Our room was simply and tastefully decorated and furnished with good quality furniture, fixtures and fittings. The bathroom was a decent size, the only oddity was that there was no shower curtain for the shower over the nice big bath. The room had a mini-bar and Sky TV with English language news channels which was useful for keeping abreast of events.

The main features of the room, however was the large comfy bed and a small balcony with drop dead gorgeous views over the Lake, across to Bellagio and to the Alps.

The restaurant takes up most of the ground floor and is also very popular in its own right. We ate in the restaurant on Tuesday evening. The chilly March evening precluded dinner on the terrace over the lake. The food was very, very good with impeccable friendly service, locally sourced ingredients and again, drop dead gorgeous views over the lake to the mountains. The restaurant is closed on Wednesday evenings in low season which ends the week before Easter.

The hotel is at the south end of Tremezzo. There are nice easy walks along the lake in both directions with plenty of places to eat or drink. There is a ferry terminal right next door to the hotel too with boats across and up the lake, but this did not cause any disturbance or noise

Do not confuse Hotel La Darsena and its excellent restaurant in Tremezzo, half way up Lake Como with establishments in the town of Como at the south end of the lake some 15 miles away.

This is a small (9 rooms) hotel with a gourmet restaurant. It is run by an excellent, caring staff and every aspect of this place does them great credit.

We stayed for a week in a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the lake, eating a generous buffet breakfast on the restaurant balcony and using the hotel restaurant at night when we wished. Although the restaurant is quite expensive for an evening meal it is reasonably priced when compared with the prices locally and on a different planet as far a quality and choice is concerned.

The hotel is very well situated for ferrys and buses. Overall we could not fault it it made our holiday and we hope to visit again soon.

This truly is an excellent hotel, offering the highest standard of service. I booked through bookings.com but the next day the hotel informed me by email that there were no longer any lake view rooms available for my dates. They offered me a side view room with a small bacony which partly faced the road. When we arrived, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was exactly as promised, spotlessly clean and comfortable. I did not have any problems with road noise even though I am a very light sleeper.

Breakfast was excellent, offering a wide choice of hot and cold selections, cereals and sweets. The restaurant was also of a high standard, although a little pricey. My only criticism is that the internet was not free although the hotel offered to charge me only for one day only. Really, in this day and age, all hotels should provide free internet. But best of all was the location, right on the lake with incredible views. If you are fortunate enough to travel to this part of Europe, this hotel is the place to stay. What a shame not all hotels aspire to this standard!
