This hotel is in a very high but beautiful position with wonderful views overlooking the lovely Lake Como. We stayed for a week at the end of March 2012 and enjoyed some wonderful weather during a thoroughly enjoyable and very relaxing week before all the tourists had really started to arrive. Some of the ferry lines were not open until April but nevertheless, we still managed to fill our week with memorable visits to all parts of the Lake using the ferries available, fast and slow, trains and buses. Anyway, it was all so much easier to see, enjoy and photograph without too many people!

The Hotel La Perla is really lovely. It is spotlessly clean and it is, just as you see on the web site http://www.laperlatremezzo.com/en

There is however, one very important aspect that the web site does omit to say ……. the Hotel is owned and run by four of the nicest, most accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable people you could ever wish to meet and who really cannot do enough to make your stay anything other than a complete pleasure.

Do not be put off by the high position of the Hotel La Perla because the Lake view rooms are un - missable. Furthermore, Hotel La Perla provides a shuttle bus at peak times of the day. Failing that, there is always a 20 minute walk up (maybe 25 minutes up!) and down a made up, well-lit, mainly cobbled path, between the interesting Italian houses ….. in itself something everybody should not fail to experience.

Our party for this trip have been holidaying together for over 30 years, all around the World, and we all feel that our week at Hotel La Perla and Lake Como truly was one of our best.

We travelled from Gatwick to Milan and then took a taxi to the Hotel. Once we took off from Gatwick, rather than sitting in the Airport , the total travel time from Gatwick to Hotel La Perla was only about 2.5 hours. Not long and very easy! I feel a long weekend is beckoning sometime soon and I really cannot wait !!

We visited La Perla on our Honeymoon in early April 2012, what a fantastic place! The hotel is situated on the hill above Tremezzo with great views of Lake Como. The room was finished to a high standard and was very comfortable. The service was absolutely excellent and the staff are so friendly and helpful, we even got an Easter gift! The staff speak excellent English, French and German (and I’m sure their language skills don’t end there). They run a shuttle bus services twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon to take guests back and to the ferry jetty in Tremezzo and they’ll also pick you up from Tremezzo if you arrive by ferry (which we did). They have plenty of satellite TV channels to choose from including BBC1, BBC2, ITV4 to name but a few. The food they served in the restaurant in the evenings was great value for money and very tasty. We would definitely recommend this hotel and Lake Como to friends!

The hotel is quite a way up a very winding road but you can walk to town once you check in. As it was the Easter holiday weekend, the hotel suggested we park our car in the school parking lot "5 turns down the road" when we wanted to venture into town as it would save us some steep walking. The hotel has an underground parking garage--nice if it's raining out.
It is both the owners/staff and the amenities that make this hotel such a standout. It is owned by 2 very beautiful twin sisters and their husbands. They were always available to answer sightseeing questions and had great suggestions. We had the family suite (king bedroom with a separate sitting room that had a full pull-out bed, TV, and mini-bar). They reserved the two-level terrace just for us. It had amazing views! It was too cool to use the pool, but I was able to enjoy the lounge chairs around the pool for reading in the sun. The buffet breakfast was delicious. The owners had a brochure describing a short hiking tour of the local hamlets and it was a pleasant way to see a little of the area that wasn't a typical tourist destination.
This hotel is very convenient to where you can pick up the ferries to go across Lake Como to Bellagio or Lenno (about 7 euro round trip) or tour Villa Carlotta.

Room Tip: While we had spectacular views from our private terrace, it doesn't sound like anyone had a prob...

Nearly a year later, I'm still fondly remembering this hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful, spoke an amazing number of languages (usually all in one sentence but still understandable!). The hotel was quiet, the other guests were quiet and respectful, no slamming doors or rattling around rooms and balconies at ungodly hours, and very few children. The air conditioning was great and actually worked. Although we supposedly didn't have a lake view, we could see standing on our terrace which looked over a courtyard garden at the back and was sunny and peaceful. It was great being 'out of the way' and being part of village life; listening to the bells on the goats ringing in the hills, saying Buona Sera to the ladies gossiping from their balconies over the tiny lanes that passed for roads on our way down to the lake front for food in the evenings. We mostly ate at a tabacco shop/pizzeria on the main road on the Como town side of the village which was cheap and cheerful, but treated ourselves to an amazing meal at El Timon on the further side of Tremezzo which I highly recommend. Breakfast on the hotel terrace was excellent - everything we wanted was available, and there were fabulous and peaceful views. The hotel is also handy for the challenging walk up Monte Croccione. We also walked to Menaggio and I preferred Tremezzo to Cadennabia and Menaggio, and even Como itself, where we stayed for 1 night. If I ever go back to Lake Como, which is very tempting as it was so beautiful, I would stay here again without question.

We have travelled extensively and can say honestly that La Perla is a very special place. It starts with a warm welcome that immediately makes you feel you have made the right choice by coming to La Perla. The room is a generous space with high ceilings and has a patio to sit outside and sip wine.
This Hotel is quiet and secluded which is exactly what we were hoping for. When we read the reviews regarding the location and the requirement for a car, we do agree that a car (for us) was a must. You will have a few good choices of restaurants, Trattoria Rana is very close and offers simple but tasty meals. We very much enjoyed dinner at La Darsena but for us the total package was at Al Veluu where we celebrated a special anniversary. It is worth while arriving early just to sit and sip your Italian wine while the sun sets over Lac Como. We stayed a total of 4 nights and it was perfect. La Perla does live up to it's name and we would recommend it to all our friends.

We stay at la perla for one night. They upgraded our room to have a view of the lake. The hotel and rooms are nicely decorated. View of the room was breathtaking. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast was plenty and the boiled eggs were nice and hot. The hotel is up in the hills, we drove so it wasn't a problem but if you are not driving then it might not be the most ideal location if you have a big suitcase.

Just back from a 5 night stay at La Perla and I have to say it was very good. We had a small problem with our initial room which was rectified the following morning by a room change. The standard of accomodation is very good, very clean and with comfortable beds. We were very pleased with our choice and would recommend anyone to stay here.

Pro's - very friendly knowledgable staff, very comfortable facilities, great views of Lake Como

Con's - only a slight one - I would have prefered tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

We would definately stay again.
