“Spectacular views and fine dining”
Reviewed 12 August 2012

My husband and I stayed in the Hotel Rusall for two nights after driving to the Lake Como region from the Milan airport. Our room was comfortable with a balcony and view of Lake Como and Bellagio across the lake. The hotel has a beautiful and spacious garden, also overlooking the lake and mountains, and a wonderful breakfast is served on the terrace. Their is also a beautiful swimming pool. Because the hotel is situated high on a hill above the lake, the air was fresh and cool. We were warmly welcomed by the owners of the hotel, and had our first meal in Italy on the terrace until our room was ready at 2:00pm - delicious cannelloni. We also had the prix fixe dinner the second night of our stay, and it was superb, with an array of antipasti and salads.

Room Tip: We had a car, which made climbing the hill easy. I imagine it is possible to get a taxi from the ce...

If you want to have a room with a view, this is the place to be. But even without such a room, the views from the garden on the lake below are stunning. As important, especially in summer, is that you have a room with a fan or airco. Ask for it. The staff and the management of this family hotel are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the swimming pool with its views on the lake as well as the tennis facilities. There's a nice pedestrian path that brings you in about 20 minutes down to the center of Tremezzo. The climb back up the hill is rather heavy, especially when the weather is hot. If you want to avoid this, you can take the car and park it at the foot of the hill near the village school (when the school is closed - ask the hotel manager) At about 200 meters from the hotel, there's a pretty old hamlet. Supper & breakfast are OK. The hotel has a cosy and relax feeling. You feel immediately at home. Excellent place to visit the most beautiful part of the Lake Como.

We stayed here for four nights in July the hotel is situated on hillside overlooking Lake Como and others have said, the view is absolutely spectacular. We had a 4 bed family room which was fine for a 3-star hotel there was a lot of room and the bathroom was big. The room was situated in the "dependence" which is a separate small block from the main hotel building. This was ideal you opened the room door and were greeted with the view and were only 10 steps away from the swimming pool area.
Franco the proprietor is really charming and helpful and seems to speak virtually any language, all of the staff we came into contact with were friendly and always busy. Rooms and the hotel were all clean.
We only ate breakfast in the hotel as were were out and about at lakeside towns for lunch and dinner, this was reasonable continental selection and fresh cooked eggs were always on offer. We did have some drinks in the hotel which were a fair bit cheaper than bars at the lakeside. Breakfast was taken in the patio area outside the restaurant so you had the fantastic views to enjoy first thing.

We spent two nights at the the Hotel Rusall. My husband and I were in Italy for a 3 week vacation and met our daughter & niece who have been travelling through Europe. The family room was perfect for the 4 of us. The room was large, clean and well-equipped. Breakfast was excellent with a good variety. We had dinner one night in the dining room and thoroughly enjoyed it. The second night after dinner in town, we went to the comfortable sitting area next to the dining room for dessert and tea. The view from the hotel is incredible and the staff were friendly.

Sitting on the porch of the 2nd floor, and looking at Bellagio in sunrise, sunset and on a rainy morning too, with the bells ringing in the background - this alone is worth the stay. Room was very clean and comfortable, breakfast was excellent, and the warm hospitality makes us want to return...we will be back!!

I was traveling with my sister, her husband and their daughter and we booked a single and a triple room (via hotels.com) but the reservation was mixed up to be 2 doubles. Luckily there was a family room (4 beds) available and my sister was offered this so no problem. The hotel is in a really spectacular location with fantastic views along the lake and, although other reviewers say the view is worth the price alone, I reckon it was pretty good value on any account. My bed was very comfortable and the room perfectly clean. There wasn't air conditioning in my room (although there was in my sister's) but being on the corner I could open the bathroom window and balcony door to get a nice cool breeze, otherwise it would have been rather hot at night.

Some reviews say the food was average but we all agreed the meal we had was great - salad buffet, pasta, meat & then sweet course and the whole thing was very well priced. Breakfast buffet was good (German style) and all through the service was really friendly. We only had 1 night and after spending the afternoon in Bellagio were really glad to have come here. I wouldn't say to stay too long as there is a limited meal choice each night (2 options each course) so maybe you would have a night not really fancying anything on the menu plus it is a bit isolated so you can't just wander out anywhere else for a pre dinner drink. Stay for a few days or a week though and explore the lake by day and you won't be disappointed.

We stayed here for two nights, and it's a decent 3-star hotel with a 5-star view. As other reviewers have noted, the view is absolutely spectacular. Make sure you get a lakeview room. The hotel is located up a steep road about a mile from the main lakefront road, and there's adequate free parking. It's perhaps a tad pricey for a 3-star, but the view alone makes it worthwhile. Our room was average sized, with a relatively small bathroom and verandah. There's a small TV, and in general the furnishings are what you'd expect for a 3-star (somewhat rustic, and walls a little thin). The proprietors and staff are friendly and accommodating, and seem to stay busy working hard all the time.

We had dinner here both nights, and it's about what you'd expect from a small family-owned hotel---good, but not outstanding. Based on the crowd we saw there, it seems to be popular with locals (was packed on a Saturday night). There's another restaurant within walking distance which has gotten good reviews. Breakast was fairly basic, but OK for us. There's a small bar and a nice terrace area (both covered and outdoor) where you can sit out for a happy hour drink before dinner. Wine and drink prices were reasonable. There's also a tennis court. Overall, I compare this hotel to some of the U.S. national park lodges---not real fancy but quite worthwhile to stay at just for the beautiful setting.

Room Tip: Must try to get lakeview room
