“Faded glory”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

Wonderful views from lakeside room with a large balcony...the highlight of the stay. The room however was shabby. Bathroom had no bath only shower. Internet connection was a bit of a problem, having to renew your code every 4 hours was a minor irritation. Food was acceptable but rushed. Also the hors d'oeuvres need to be labelled....very difficult to know what was on each platter if you are vegetarian. Cadenabbia is a very quiet resort but the hotel is very close to 2 ferry ports which allow you to hop over to other resorts easily. The pool would not be easy to access for the elderly or little children and on a wet day the decking around the bar and pool area is very dangerously slippery. I would question the star rating of the hotel and would not recommend for younger people

Room Tip: Select lake view with balcony

This hotel benefits from a beautiful building and lake view. However, the rooms are poorly decorated and quite small. The worst part is the VERY SLOW internet connection and the fact that there is no internet in the rooms which is not acceptable. One also had to renew the connection every 4 hours which is tiring and very old fashioned. The food is good and so is the service. But the hotel is badly situated with nothing to do especially once it rains. I do not recommend this hotel to young people.

Very bad internet connection. None in the rooms and very slow in all other areas. Very disappointing as this was not stated in hotel description! Moreover, the rooms are poorly decorated. However everything is clean and service is good. Not a lot of activities especially when it rains in this area.

We stayed at this hotel with Great rail journeys. The entrance is very plush and well air conditioned. I found the Wi-Fi temperamental and although technically free I had to get a password every day which only lasted 4 hours. I thought this was a bit unnecessary as it wasn't reliable anyway. Rooms were basic, we were disappointed that the bathroom only had a spray shower over the bath, quite useless for showering under, alright for washing hair, kneeling by the bath! The staff were lovely, very helpful. The restaurant was busy at dinnertime and the meals basic. It would be helpful to have the buffet dishes labelled, sometimes we didn't know what was in the dish! There was obviously a lot of waste. Main course was fine , but deserts would work better if you were served. Some people heaped their plates up and I daresay went back for more with the result that sometimes they run out at the end of the evening. They need a good restaurant manager!

Room Tip: We were at the back of the hotel and it was quiet and also cool (the weather was hot ) We appreciate...

The hotel is located on the edge of Lake Como well renovated with superb facilities and a particularly impressive dining room with a floating pool ; bar and sun deck area.

Breakfast was extremely good, with fresh fruits and juices, fried eggs, and everything you would want for breakfast.Similarly, the food for lunch and dinner was also impressive with a good range of pasta dishes. We were also interested to see so many Italians in the hotel which further underpinned our thoughts on the cuisine.

When it came to relaxing we particularly enjoyed using the floating deck on the Lake where you could also eat and drink. We were told that this is the only facility of its kind in Northern Italy.

The rooms were spacious and well maintained and the housekeeping bar and dining area staff courteous and polite. We requested for an early check-in, it was approved, we request for a late check-out, it was approved , we even asked for a private launch to be arranged for a special event and this was done without any fuss or bother. The staff and the management team could not have been more helpful .The reception personnel were also very helpful advising us on what to do in the area and there is lots to do - the hotel is extremely well located.

I must say that I cannot understand the comments made by a number of other reviewers in respect of this hotel. We had a fantastic experience but I guess that for some people life is always full of woes and the glass is always half empty !

Room Tip: The views from the rooms looking over The Lake are the best you will see anywhere in the world

We loved this hotel, we arrived early evening and went to check in, lovely lady on reception told us they had upgraded us to a suite.
The room was beautiful, huge balcony( we had booked a room with lake view and balcony) this balcony was massive, we had a fabulous bathroom with shower, twin sinks, separate toilet and bidet, there was also a very large bath which was in the bedroom sounds strange but it was lovely.
We were at the front of the hotel and we didnt notice it being noisy on any of the 3 nights we stayed.
The breakfast was very good and plenty of it which was constantly refilled, definitely no complaints.
We have stayed in many hotels in Italy and this is one of our favourites which we will be visiting again.
The view of Lake Como is so beautiful and well worth paying a little extra for.
We were not on an organised trip we flew into Bergamo and hired a car, it is approx an hour and a half to the hotel from the airport.
The hotel does cater for older couples mainly however please dont let that put you off visiting, we are in our 40`s and used the hotel as our base to visit all 3 lakes before flying on to Budapest for the Grand Prix.
We also visited Villa Carlotta which is right next door, the gardens are spectacular.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony overlooking the Lake

The room we were first given was like a college dorm. Sfter complaining we were offered a different room for 20 euros a day more. The new room was acceptable. The wifi passwoed and code had to changed every 4 hours. Breakfast was good but dinner was terrible. Everthing was expensive.

Room Tip: room with lake view
