We chose this hotel for our honeymoon specifically for the top room, which has a private Jacuzzi pool and terrace. We were not disappointed, and in fact the hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff cannot do enough for you. We arrived very late and had pre-warned the hotel we wouldn't be checking in until after 10pm. We had therefore asked for a cold plate to be left for us as we would be too late for dinner. We didn't arrive until midnight, and the restaurant staff had specifically waited around and kept the restaurant open, in order that we could eat! They had laid on some beautiful food and wine, which was greatly appreciated as we were so tired and hungry. Staff are all so polite, nothing is too much trouble. They all speak a multitude of languages, and absolutely loved any children who were staying at the hotel. Everything is spotlessly clean. It is only a short walk down to the beach, or you can get a lift on the regular electric cart if you don't want to walk!
Our room was amazing, having a private pool was fantastic. Perfect relaxation, and excellent facilities. We ate at the buffet each evening, and there was a great selection of food. The desserts were all delicious. It would be easy to put on a lot of weight!! We would definitely recommend this hotel, and really hope to go back again.

Room Tip: The 'Elcrisio' room is the best room with private pool and perfect for honeymooners

We chose the Marinedda over other hotels in Northern Sardinia (to be near(ish) the famed Costa Smeralda) because of the glowing trip advisor reviews. This was despite the knowledge that it would cost us more with our toddler (no free child place unlike other hotels) and with less kids facilities again than other hotels (mini club is free from 3 years and no kids' pool with graded entry - although there was a decent size paddling pool which we hadn't been aware of before arriving).

For us we made the right choice, and despite high expectations we were not disappointed! We had such a wonderful, relaxing stay. As many others have commented, we found the service to be attentive and sincere, the hotel well maintained with beautiful landscaping and the food excellent. We travelled the first week in June when we'd understood the mini club would still be closed. They opened it a week early, apparently on the request of some parents, which I thought impressive. Whilst we couldn't leave our child (not yet 3) we were allowed to use the playground and borrow beach toys which was great.

A few other observations:

We'd understood the buffet dinner to have 2 sittings at 7.30 and 8.45pm. We found that really we could turn up at any time and there would still be room and a good food selection, so don't bother joining the queue outside at 7.30 (although admittedly perhaps high season is different?)

The a la carte dinner restaurant is excellent and at no extra charge - well worth a visit and they were still very accommodating towards young children

Don't miss the spa - world class!

Live bands play every night around the main complex, sometimes it was pretty loud, but it always finished at 11pm. I understand they also do shows on the stage near the saltwater pool / pool bar but this wasn’t on during our stay.

The room was equipped with tea and coffee making facilities which was great. No in room iron/ironing board though - perhaps too much to expect but come prepared!!

Further afield - whilst a car isn't a must (enough choice in the resort, including the lovely beach and (independent) restaurant by the beach) I'd recommend it - there are some stunning beaches to explore nearby. Badesi is about ten minutes' drive away - long, white sand beach with clear waters. NB: you need to buy a car parking ticket from one of the bars though; don't get caught out! There were also plenty of secluded coves on the road north towards Santa Teresa Gallura - we avoided since we didn't have a parasol but kicked ourselves when we realised we could have bought one for 10 euros in the larger supermarkets! Santa Teresa Gallura is worth a stop too - a very pretty little town. Five minutes further up the road is the stunning Marmorata beach - very gently sloping into the sea for little ones and hardly a soul (but probably best avoided in high summer - a massive resort sits on one end of it which luckily was still closed when we were there). Note the Marinedda is a good hour and three quarters' drive from Olbia airport - imagine worse in high season because of the windy coastal roads. If you want to experience Costa Smeralda more than once, I'd say the Marinedda is just that bit too far away and look for somewhere more to the north / NE proper.

Overall, a fantastic holiday and I would recommend this hotel to my nearest & dearest - and possibly consider coming again!

Room Tip: All suites I believe come with sea view - but do request either morning or evening sun if you have a...

We have just come back from 2 amazing weeks, it normally takes me a while to relax and unwind, and if this this what you want in a holiday, then this is the ideal place! The setting is quite remote, there are two pools with a reasonably priced pool snack bar, or less than 300 yards away there is a stunning beach with a nice lunchtime beach bar 'El Cormorano' The Cormorant, and yes there are several diving in and out of the sea. The harbour town of Isola Rossa is about a gentle 20 minute stroll, but coming back is a bit tougher as its slightly uphill, there are a few bars , restaurants and local shops, mostly used by the village people. The hotel was lovely with chalets dotted around the grounds, most were single story, with only a few on more than one floor. We had an upgrade on arrival to a relax room, that had a bit more space and an outside shower as well as the inside one and a large patio area. There were two evening meal options, of self service buffet, the Germans seemed to like this, and would be queuing at 7.30, don't ask me why, when there was a fantastic 'A la carte' restaurant with a choice of 4 courses with table service at no extra cost!
The staff and management worked extremely hard to make our stay memorable, nothing was ever too much trouble, we asked for a mattress topper as the bed was a bit firm for us, and it was done by the time we got back from breakfast, they were always smiling, and if you try and communicate with the basics, it seems appreciated, although they can all speak better English than my Italian.
This holiday was a toss up between the Caribbean or somewhere a bit different but without the 10 hour return flight. We definitely made the right choice. Highly recommended!!

Room Tip: Ask for a Relax room, as nearly all rooms give you a sea view.

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of June based on the good reviews we had read on Trip Advisor - we were not disappointed!

We stayed in a Relax room, and it was lovely - very spacious. The room - and the hotel in general - looked much nicer than in photos.

Everything - the room, the pools, the beach, the food, the service - was fantastic.

We were travelling without a car, so were happy to find that the hotel ran a series of excursions around the island. Similarly, the town of Isola Rossa is within walking distance of the hotel (about 15-20 mins). However, the town itself really isn't anything to write home about; there are much more interesting, beautiful towns in Sardinia. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time relaxing in the hotel and enjoying the pools and beaches, and would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly to anyone!

Prior to booking this hotel I carried out extensive research and looked at various comments on Trip advisor.
We normally go for smaller hotels but we decided on this hotel largely on the basis of the very favourable comments on the location, staff and facilities.
Being there for two weeks we decided to go for a superior room and certainly we were glad that we did as we had a magnificent view from our balcony and obviously a bit more space.

So looking at the plus points:
Staff - the staff were absolutely excellent. They were courteous and friendly but also professional. As we selected the waiter service for our evening meal we began to get to know a number of them quite well.
Position - the hotel is on its own and from our room we could see the magnificent coastline and crystal clear blue sea. There are negligible other properties to spoil the view.
Beach - this is really excellent however the sand shelves very quickly so people with young children need to be aware of the potential dangers. The area reserved for hotel guests was kept really clean by the three beach attendants. As soon as you rose from your sun bed these attendants were there brushing off the sand from your bed - I have never seen such attention even in 5 star hotels in the Caribbean!
Meals - as I mentioned we went for waiter service. The food in the evenings was of high quality and in the two weeks I don't think that the menu was repeated.

Next the negatives:
Being built on the slope of a hill comes at a price - there are slopes and steps everywhere. Our room was located reasonably close to the main facilities however if you had a standard room then you might have a steep climb everytime you came back from the pool or from the spa or dining room.
Also not all standard rooms have good views - you might find yourself overlooking the back of the car park.
Hotel reception. In the evening this doubles up as a bar and lounge therefore if the evenings are chilly then there is insufficient seating for the number of guests. Added to that there was usually some form of so called entertainment so the noise level in reception was extensive. In my opinion the reception should be separate from the lounge area
Swimming pool - there are two pools one of which allowed for about 40 people to sit on sun beds. The larger one was designed to accommodate everyone else! This was absolutely full of people. As we like a bit a peace and quiet we gave this area a miss and went for the beach. The hire charge for the beds was worth every euro!
Meals - at breakfast we found that the coffee was very strong and had probably been made quite a while before we arrived. Also we found that you needed to be early to avoid the crowds viz. certainly by 7.30 am.

We did visit the other hotel viz.Torreruja. This looked much more peaceful however the restaurant providing waiter service was only open on really warm evenings.

So lots of positives but unfortunately a number of negatives. Maybe next time we would select one of the other hotels in the group.

This is the perfect place for a 'get away from it all and everyone' break. A complex of ground and first floor chalets set over an extensive area on the hillside, it's incredible so many people are there but are rarely seen except at meal times.
The accommodation is ample though basic and simple but clean, and privacy is maintained due to the way these are scattered all over the place. The floors are tiled so it can be irritating!
I chose this complex for the spa and the treatments available. Both were great and I cannot praise highly enough the competence and professionality of the therapists and would recommend to anyone.
The beach was also the other reason I chose this hotel. Clean and white sand and beautiful clear, clean water. An absolute must for those, like me, who love sea swimming, especially as its too cold to do that in the UK!
My only disappointment was being charged to use the hotel sun beds and brollys, which got more expensive the the hotter it got, and the nearer the sea the more you got charged. I have to admit being disgusted though apparently it is well known.
This appears to be a great place for couples and families but I would not advise single travellers to venture here - each to their own, though!

We are recently back from our Honeymoon at this hotel and we absolutely loved it. Like some of the other recent advisors, we were upgraded from the local Torreruja Hotel and now we are able to compare, we are very glad we were! We had actually looked at the Marinedda and it was out of our price range!
From the arrival, when we were greeted with fresh fruit juice off the coach, to our very last drink at the bar on our last night, the staff were extremely helpful and frequently went above and beyond. We cannot fault the service in any way.
I am vegetarian and on the first night asked one of the chef's if he could assist me, he was extremely helpful, taking time to walk me round the buffet and pointing out everything I could and couldn't eat. He then said if I didn't like the veggie options he would gladly make me another dish. No need, the food was incredible, the choice and standard every night was out of this world. The same chef (Stefano, who actually turned out to be the head chef) walked round with me every night, and on several occasions made me my very own personal meal. Nothing was too much for them. The dessert section was incredible, so much choice, we both left a bit heavier at the end of our fortnight! Breakfast was delicious, and there was a good choice. A special shout out goes to the guys in the bar, Roberto and Giovanni, a brilliant laugh and great service.
As some of the other reviews have said, the hotel is quite isolated, but this is exactly what we wanted and we liked the location. We had done some research into the area before booking and we organised 7days car hire in advance (definitely do it in UK, a lot cheaper, we were £160 for a full weeks hire, the cost of 2 days if doing it at the hotel) We enjoyed a few days chilling out at the start and end of our holiday which was perfect and enjoyed exploring the Island the other 7days.
We were given 3 half days in the spa as we were honeymooning and we thoroughly enjoyed them.
This hotel is perfect if you are looking for somewhere quiet to relax and to use as a base for exploring. It is well situated to explore the north east and west of the island and a good bit inland too. Would love to stay again, though maybe slightly later in the summer, as the weather was a bit mixed the first week though slightly better the second but not great.

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea View.
