This hotel has an elevated position and from the pool and restaurant you can look over the bay and admire the amazing sunsets. There are no such views from the rooms however as they are all mainly on the same 'ground' level. The setting is quiet - bordering on too quiet for us and many others we spoke with.
The pool area is very nice and there was never any problem getting a sunbed - though the ones under the few available parasols always had towels on 'reserving' them - I'm ashamed to say by other british guests! We had paid for a superior room but were allocated a standard room until I complained - again talking to other guests they had exactly the same problem.
The buffet dinner served from 7.15 on the first night was very good. The following night it was served from 7.30 and the next (and for the rest of the week) was changed again to 8pm. Many guests were unaware of the time changes and so arrived at 7.30 - this meant that nearly all the guests went into dinner at 8pm - rather than people turning up at varying times. The kitchen and restaurant could not cope - most evenings dinner was waiter served and did we wait!! When the food came it was luke warm and unappetising. A complaint to the Restaurant Manager made no difference he blamed it on the world cup!!!!! I later found that several other guests had also complained. With hindsight I should have complained to the Thomsons rep but we are late risers and her visits were early so we didn't see her and I don't expect or want to spend my holiday complaining.
A big disappointment for me were the local beaches which were covered in seaweed and the path to one was very inaccessible. They did not bear any resemblance to the beaches pictured in all the Sardinian brochures and advertisements.
This is the 2nd disappointing holiday booked through Thomsons - their brochure gives almost 100% ratings for this hotel which are currently absolutely incorrect.

We stayed for a week on our 'honeymoon'. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we were treated very well by ALL the staff. We were in a standard room, which was quite adequate (did suggest that maybe tea/coffee making facilities would have been good), rooms were clean, surround gardens/pathways were very pretty, the pool area was well kept, plenty of sunbeds (no need to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve beds with towels! The two nearest beaches were also very nice if you fancied a change from the poolside. The resort is by no means 'lively', it is a small fishing village with a sprinkling of bars and a couple of restaurants, just right for a 'get away from it all' break.

We were upgraded to a suite on our arrival and the room was clean, spacious and had a view of the coast. The staff were always attentive, friendly, polite and spoke good english. During our stay we were full board and the food was exquisite, with a wide choice of beautifully presented well cooked food.

There is also a luxurious health spa, with a gym, massage, spa pools, sauna and all the facilities you would expect. This is an indulgent treat during your stay at the Hotel Torreruja. If you are looking for vibrant night life this isn't the location for you, but if you like luxurious surroundings, good food and a relaxing laid back stay, this is perfect.

This was the second consecutive year we stayed at this hotel and we consider it first class. The location is just perfect, ALL the staff from waiters,gardeners,reception,cleaners and management could not be more friendly and
helpful. The organisation in the restaurant is the best I have come across. Can't wait to
return again.

The Hotel is very nice, pool and bathing areas are lovely, but the main restaurant setting and superior rooms are not 4 star standard to the levels we would expect in England. That said, the hotel waiting staff are very friendly. Evening entertainment usually starting at 10 is also very good. Food is excellent. It is worth having your evening meal on the rooftop terrace for the additional 10 euros per person - you need to book in advance. Fantastic view from there. Please note that there are no local buses to travel around the area - you need to hire a car, so you are dependant on trips to see other areas of Sardinia. There are 3 beaches on the island all of the good. Excursions are expensive so check in advance with tour operator. Town is small with a few shops, bars and restaurants. Diving available in the town. No late nightlife etc. Spa expensive.
