So this was a last minute booking on our Honeymoon. Our plan for our honeymoon was to Fly into Rome, spend two nights, then spend 4 days on the Amalfi Coast, then take the next 5 days by ear in Tuscany. Rent a car and spend the night in whatever town we felt like spending it in. I called Palazzina a couple days before we were going to arrive and they had a double suite available for $105 (Euros). When we ended up in Montalcino and saw our room, we were blown away! 105 Euros was a STEAL!!!! we paid $130 Euros in Sorrento, $150 Euros in Florence and the rooms were half as nice! we had our own separate entryway with a bathroom, and a very large room with a very comfortable bed. All the beds in Italy are very stiff and this was one of the only ones that was actually very comfortable. The town of Montalcino is amazing! You can walk across it about 15-20 minutes and walk around the outer walls in about 30 minutes. Sits high a top a hilltown and has amazing views of the Tuscany countryside. The food in town is amazing and the Brunello & Rosso di Montalcino's are the best wine in Italy in my opinion.

The B&B itself is the perfect location. 100 ft from the main Piazza, and located 20ft from the main street with great Taverna's, Osteria's and Wine Shops! The town is as quiet as it can be, and after spending a few days on the busy busy busy Amalfi Coast, Montalcino is the answer! The House that Palazzina is located in has frescos and trim dating back hundreds of years and is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen! You really feel like you are staying in someone's home in Italy!

However, what really makes this place special is Roberto & Lucilla, the owners! Roberto is from New England, was a photographer in the fashion industry and has had several restaurants in America. He used to visit the area since he was a kid, since his Grandmother was from the area. Together Roberto & Lucilla could open up their own Tour Guide business because they both have such a vast knowledge of the area and culture. Every attraction and eatery they suggested to us was 100% authentic and amazing. They wont send you to any tourist traps! When it comes to food, as both Roberty & Lucilla told us "We really like to cook and eat good food, so we wouldn't recommend any place we wouldn't eat at." The local Taverna they recommended to us, we went to both nights we were in town. (Taverna Grappolo Blu) Check it out!!! Best Truffle Pasta I have ever had!

I also had a run-in with the local Carabieneri (cops) regarding an accident that didnt actually involve myself. Roberto came running up and translated for us and absolutely saved the day! In situations like that, having someone translate for you when English is there first language is the best thing that could have happened to us. Thank you Roberto for that!!!

Besides all this, Montalcino is a very close-knit community. What we noticed, was there weren't many tourist traps, like the other bigger towns. Montalcino, was a place that wanted to showcase all the best things to area had to offer in a 100% authentic and traditional way, and wanted tourists to come back for those things. Not be grabbing them with some cheap-italian tourist trick to get them back. This was why Montalcino, was one of our favorite places we visited in all of Italy. And when you decide to come visit this town, stay at Palazzina Cesira! You're experience will be 10 times better if you do!

Thank you again so much Roberto & Lucilla for making the time of our honeymoon in Montalcino as special as it was! We will be returning very shortly!!!

Room Tip: The Key to this place is the owners. Roberto & Lucilla made the experience in Montalcino!

Dear Alex,

Montalcino is close to heaven and our stay at Palazzina Cesira was great! It is an excellent location, in the heart of the old village and Robert and Lucilla treated us like honored guests in their home. Robert grew up in the US and Lucilla also speaks very good English. They were so helpful in recommending places to see and information about the town and region. The B & B is lovely, with a made to order breakfast each morning. I would go back in a minute!

Robert & Lucilla are welcoming hosts. The location is great. They are very helpful with suggestions in the area. Breakfast is made to order and delicious. Robert is from the states and Lucilla speaks English very well. I was traveling with my Aunt (60) Cousin (Late 50's) Cousin ( 29) and I'm 34. The 3 of them shared a room on the top floor. Lots of stairs, but that is to be expected in a historic home. I had a single room, first to the left as you enter. Room was great size. Because my room was on the first floor and the house on the corner it did get really loud in the morning as the shops were opening and trucks/motorcycles passing by. Again, I expected it. Robert & Lucilla seem to be really respected in town. In fact, we received our wine tasting for free because they found out we were staying at Palazzina Cesira. My only regret was we didn't stay longer. We were moving on to Spain. I would definitely return.

We've been living in a dreamlike state since we returned from Tuscany a week ago. Our stay with Robert & Lucilla at their beautiful home in Montalcino enriched our time in the magnificent Brunello region. They generously shared their time with us offering suggestions of local sights they felt we'd enjoy. They were invaluable with directions and maps, ensuring we'd be able to find our way back home. Our immaculate mini-suite offered every comfort we could have wanted and allowed us to authentically experience life in a Tuscan village. Robert's restaurant suggestions proved to be exceptional each offering culinary delights. Our comfort and satisfaction were their focus and when we left, we felt we were leaving friends we would soon see again.

It goes without saying that if we find our way back to the Brunello countryside Palazzina Cesira is where we hope to stay.

A lot can be said when the recollection of your visit to Italy's picturesque hilltowns is crowned by this wonderful B and B in the center of Montalcino hosted by Roberto and Lucilla. Their hospitality and generous sharing of their time and information suggesting wonderful sights to enjoy made our time their so memorable. We were so happy to stay in one of their mini-suites so beautifully renovated in Old World charm making our visit feel so authentically Italian. We encourage anyone with Montalcino as part of their itenary to include the experience of Palazzina Cesira.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to one of their mini-suites.

Cannot believe I had never been to Montalcino before. Now, I'll never go back to Italy without spending at least two or three nights there -- specifically at Robert and Lucilla's wonderful Palazzina Cesira. I actually burst out laughing when entering our room -- the only one available when we could come to Montalcino. It was, fitting the name of the B&B, palatial. Cool water waiting on the table. A mini fridge so we could buy things at the local tiny grocery store (Robert will direct you to the best one to shop at) and have a picnic the next day. A huge bathroom and fantastic bed. Antiques everywhere, beamed ceilings, quiet, quiet, quiet. You're so high up in the mountains and so far away from the cities that, when the stars come out, you can lose yourself in them. The breakfasts were the best we've ever been offered anywhere in the world -- fresh fruits, fantastic coffee, and either an "American" style eggs/meat bacon entree or a continental breakfast. Oh, and, of course, the jams were homemade by Lucilla.

Robert knows and loves this area and will help you find the treasures that speak particularly to your interests. We concentrated on history, rather than wine. (I know, crazy, right? This is Brunello country. But it's also miles deep in history, including rare access to Etruscan burial tombs.) Robert made us a wonderful, detailed map of where to go and even suggested the order in which to visit things, looking out for worries like traffic or church closing hours.

His restaurant recommendations were perfect -- fantastic food and atmosphere at reasonable prices (given that you're in a place catering to visitors). And just walking into Robert and Lucilla's home was a treat in itself. Make sure to ask him the history of the place and his family's connection to Montalcino. You'd never guess it by talking to him (with his slight New England accent), but his family is from Montalcino. He clearly loves the Palazzina and Montalcino and is so pleased to share them both with others.

Oh, and if you're reading this Robert, forgive the Strunk & White errors.

Room Tip: If you can, spend the little bit extra and get the junior suite. It's fantastic! However, all...
