“Perfect, once again !”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

It was our second time at Castello Banfi, and was as perfect as the first one. I agree with other comments about the fact it is hard to describe how this hotel is so wonderful. It definitely worth the price. Should be quoted as a 6 stars resort.

We booked the 3 nights "Your Tuscan Retreat", including one free dinner at la Taverna. We had dinner at this restaurant the 3 nights. Food and service was perfect also.

The rooms are spacious, the staff is very professional and attentive to your needs, with making sure not being to invasive at the same time.

A special thanks to Francesca, she is the best!!! She makes sure you get everything you need at breakfast and remembers about your special request preferences. :)

This is a place that should be on your bucket list. I have been to many five star properties, but Castello Banfi beats them all, hands down, on service, food, and quality. We booked a package which included breakfast each day, a five-course wine tasting dinner, and a ccoking class.

Upon arrival you are offered a glass of the estate brut - nice touch. Our room, Colvecchio #16, was one of their "small" suites (this is an all-suite property). These rooms are built in the structures that housed the people that worked the castle in the old days. Our room was HUGE - larger than most NYC apartments. Large bedroom with sofa and sitting area, wooden desk, and king bed. Large closet dressing room with minibar. Giant bathroom with walk-in raifall shower, bath, bidet, commode, and double vanity. Turn down service, of course. You also get three half bottles of estate wines including their Brunello, and all nonalcoholic contents of the mnibar are both complimentary and restocked daily. I wish other big city expensive hotels would follow suit.

Included breakfast is extensive. Lunch restaurant is gourmet and has good wine list. The dinner restaurant is goumet Tuscan and the five-course wine tasting dinner that is included in all packages was just divine - I won't tell you how tipsy we were after all of that wine. The breakfast and dinner spots have the option to dine outside. Service is top-notch.

Our cooking class was the highlight of our 16 day European tour. The chef, Samuele, has and energy and friendly attitude that is contagious. It really was obvious that he loved teaching us how to cook Tuscan cuisine, and he was totally hands-on with us. This was the best class i have ever had. He taught us and made us prepare everything from scratch, and it was so enjoyable to work with him. Gnocchi, flan, pasta, ravioli, ragout, chocolate souffle - we made it all. In the end, you have a four-course lunch with pairing of Banfi wines, and we were forced to cancel our dinner reservation that evening because we were so stuffed.

They also have a library where, in the late afternoon and evening, they serve complimentary cookies, cheese, and snacks with estate wines and other spirits. This place is to die for. Included is a free guided wine tasting in their enoteca wine shop, and a tour of the winery. The vistas from the breakfast area by the pool, the castle, the rooms, and the restaurant La Taverna are gorgeous and reflect the serenity of the Montalcino countryside.

I must say that Castello Banfi truly knows how to deliver top service and exquisite surroundings and accomodations. Everyone on staff is attentive, helpful, cheerful, and truly dedicated to the best service you will ever find.

Just go - you will not be disappointed. And take the cooking class!

I just want to go back. I never wanted to leave. Well done Banfi!

Room Tip: I cannot imagine that any of their suites would be bad.

This was the most luxurious place I have ever stayed. 3 days of bliss: the service was top notch, the amenities were endless, the rooms were gorgeous, the food was spectacular, and the views and scenery was dreamy. My boyfriend and I stayed for a romantic and peaceful 3 nights and we were both thrilled. It is perfect for couples who want privacy, peace, and an adult oriented piece of luxury. Check in and tour was performed by Margarita, who was knowledgeable, friendly, and totally accommodating. We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and full luggage service. At the pool, the few guests that stayed were respectful and spoke in whispers... it was so quiet and relaxing. The pool is a well maintained saltwater pool with apple trees, rosemary and cypress circling the seating area. There is wait service by the pool if you want to enjoy lunch or a bottle of wine outside. Elena was our server and she was wonderful. Dinners were picturesque and expertly served and prepared: the ambiance, music, and quality of food and service were perfect. Gabrielle was one of our waiters both nights and he was charming, quick, and kind. Our first dinner was prepared by Dominico, who was our teacher the very next day for the Cooking Course. Dominico was charming, an excellent teacher, and a fantastic chef. He provided an incredible and unique experience with the cooking class; I learned so much and enjoyed our multi course lunch fully. The room was a suite with two bathrooms. Each shower was a piece of art with gorgeous tiling and fixtures. The toiletries are luxurious and the rooms were spotless. Our turndown and cleaning was superb as well: the service person had made our place feel so comfortable and something to look forward to on our return.

I stumbled upon this place when researching Tuscany for our recent trip to Italy. I am so glad I did because it was one of the best travel experiences my husband and I have ever had and was the highlight of our fantastic trip to Italy. We had to change our itinerary a bit and rent a car to get there but it was more than worth it. The surroundings, the property itself and the story of the owners are all things that fairy tales are made of. Our room (the Fontanelle) was spectacular and the service from all who we came in contact with was welcoming and first rate from the moment we arrived to the moment we (reluctantly) left. This is truly a first class place down to every detail and an experience in itself just to stay there. It is expensive but once you are there, there are many extras including a welcome wine gift, stocked refrigerator with soft drinks and their sparkling wine, evening wine and appetizers in the castle library, an amazing cooked to order breakfast overlooking the vineyards and a tour of their wine making facility that is down the hill from the property. For wine travelers such as ourselves we thought we found paradise. From the moment I left, I was scheming about how to get back and enjoy more time there. See more about our experience at Castello Banfi at www.thewinaut.com.

Room Tip: We loved Fontanelle and from what it looked like there was not a bad room location there. It did lo...

The magnificent Castello Banfi has 15 beautiful suites, helpful staff, delicious food, exceptional wines and impressive views. We were guests there in July 2014, and felt pampered and rested. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Children were welcome. We loved every minute!

Room Tip: Room 21 was quiet, convenient and very comfortable.

Through the years, you would turn the pages of a magazine and be mesmerized by the beauty of a castle on a hill surrounded by olive trees, Cyprus and a vineyard. You would be describing the Castello Banfi. Quiet and secluded, you have to pinch yourself when you are standing in courtyard overlooking the far stretched beauty of green hills and ancient stone walls that date back to the 12th century. Banfi's accommodations are new, upscale, quiet and inviting. There restaurants offer authentic homemade dishes that I found outstanding and the wine! Every wine is poured from the Banfi's estate. When you get tired of relaxing, you can head over to Montalcino. An historic village with shopping and great restaurants. Then, there always wine tastings throughout the region. Be prepared to use transfers or private cars to get to your locations. You wouldn't regret any time you spend in your on Castle. I promise!

Room Tip: The suites overlooking the garden.

My fiancé and I just came back from a 3-day stay at Castello Banfi where we experienced a perfect vacation. Everything from the location and rooms (stunning 12th century castle), the view (this is on top of a mountain, serene breath taking view of the rolling hills...just wow), the accomodations (warm and inviting room, the pool was beautiful) the friendly and welcoming staff, to the wine and food. They even gave us 3 bottles of wine as a welcome gift and a bottle of olive oil upon our departure. You can expect the absolute best at Castello Banfi, we would definitely come back and recommend it to all of our friends and family.Good value for money well spent!
