“Lovely, peaceful holiday home in excellent location”
Reviewed 9 October 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed here for two weeks and really enjoyed it. The house was well equipped and cool in the heat of the day. There was plenty of room for four of us, with our two children sharing the room downstairs. The garden was particularly special for us as there was so much space for the children to roam but be safe. There were olive trees and other fruit trees. Our son (7) loved wandering the olive orchard looking for insects, butterflys and ghekos. The pool is above ground and near some shaded seating so it is easy to watch the children in the water if yours are too young to be left. The house is down a small track from the 'main' road so it is very peaceful, and not at all overlooked, but there are other houses near by so it's not isolated. The track can be very bumpy as it isn't tarmaced but we managed it fine in our rental Golf.

The location of the house in Tuscany suited us really well. We went to Siena twice, some of the lovely hill top villages (Monterigioni, San Giminiao), Pisa, Chianti region, Volterra (many times as my parents rented Daniela's house there at the same time as us). All of this was within an hour and easy to get to. We also loved the local village (5 minute drive away) Casole D'Elsa. It has everything you need in terms of cafes, pictureque streets, a fantastic icecream shop and restaurants. There is a food shop there which we only discovered late in our stay and it has all the essentials. There is also a big Supermarket at Colle di Val D'Elsa about 20 minutes away by car and we bought most of our food there.

Daniela was also an excellent host. She answered all our questions before we arrived and was on hand if needed during our stay. However, she was not at all intrusive and we were left to ourselves as much as we wanted. She is very welcoming and will do all she can to help you enjoy your stay.

“Lovely house in great location”
Reviewed 14 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Casa Daniela is a lovely villa situated in its own large grounds. It was comfortable, nicely decorated and well equipped. The garden was lovely, with plenty of seating, sunny and shaded areas, and a nice sized pool. Daniela was very friendly and welcoming, and made us feel at home. A proper cot was provided for our toddler, and there were stair gates to protect him from the (dangerous) spiral staircase.
The local village of Casole D'Elsa was lovely to stroll around, and had some nice shops and restaurants, and most importantly a great gelateria! The house is within easy reach of Sienna, San Giminiagno and Volterra, and we also took day trips to Pisa and Florence.
The only negative is that the main bedroom was in the eaves, and as such was uncomfortably hot during our summer stay. I am usually fine with heat, but it was pretty unbearable. My son was also in a cot on that floor, and I was sometimes concerned about how hot he was getting. An air conditioning unit just for the top floor, or at least a much stronger fan, would have made the stay perfect.

“Recommend Casa Daniela and the location”

A villa with real character in a quiet but ideal location for visiting Siena, San Gimignano and the surrounding towns, cities and countryside. The town of Casole d'Elsa is a gem with great restaurants, two butchers and two general stores stocked with almost enough to keep you from the Supermarket in Colle di Val d'Elsa. Daniela is a lovely person who really cares about her guests. We had a great two weeks and would recommend Casa Daniela to anyone.

“Wonderful apartment, wonderful holiday!”
Reviewed 15 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We spent a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing holiday in Il Glicine. The apartment was excellent, well equipped and has spectacular views. We were made to feel so welcome, not just by the owners but the villagers as well. The many local villages and towns are well worth a visit, and of course Florence and Siena are within easy reach. A car is essential, and the lack of local shops means it is advisable to stock up on essentials before arrival. We most certainly hope to return, and would recommend this fantastic apartment to anyone looking for a quiet time in the glorious Tuscan countryside.

“Excellent Property and Location”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

The property had everything that we wanted, both inside and outside. The villa is spacious and our teenage boys appreciated having their own living area. The garden and pool are idyllic.

The location is perfect for exploring central Tuscany. Within an hour we were able to visit Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra and Florence; if you were prepared to drive a little further, you would be able to reach many other sites. We used Trip Advisor to find some excellent restaurants close by.

We found Daniela to be especially welcoming and helpful. We echo everything the others have said about her warmth and hospitality. We particularly appreciated her support when we needed to go the hospital.

We cannot recommend the property highly enough.

“Another relaxing holiday at one of Daniela's holiday homes”
Reviewed 20 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed at this lovely cottage for 2 weeks in September. The cottage is located not far from Casole D'Elsa and within easy reach of Volterra and Sienna. The house itself is ideal and well equipped. There is a spiral staircase to the lower ground floor bedroom and also up to the bathroom and bedroom. There is plenty of room for a family as there are a couple of sofa beds also. The kitchen area which doubles as a lounge is a bit dark. Daniela is very aware of this and has tried to illuminate the area with lots of lights/lamps but to be honest apart from knocking a hole in the wall for another window, there is not much else she can do! On the windows there is mesh grills which is a great idea to stop the flys/bugs. The pool is in the middle of a lovely olive grove and although very cold when you first get it, the water is lovely to swim in once the sun has been shining for a while - very refreshing. Daniela was again the perfect host for us as we had visited her other property in Montiguidi in June. She really is a lovely person and we have taken her into our hearts. She cares about her holiday letting business and wants to ensure everyone has the perfect holiday break. Thank you Daniela for making our introduction to Italy a great pleasurable one, we hope to visit you again next year.

“Beautiful!”

Casa Daniela was all we expected and more! Very private ,but not too isolated, large house, everything inside that you need for a family holiday and very clean!
The pool is large and has a pump and filter system which is on a timer and therefore keeps it clean along with Daniela coming every few days to vacum out any extra debris. Our 11 and 13 year old boys loved it and it was great for cooling down after a wee bit of sunbathing.

The property is set in between olive trees at the pool area and woodland area to the side and rear so there is always somewhere to sit in the shade. There is a metal framed gazeebo beside the pool area which has insect nets which we kept down all the time as there were alot of flying insects including the dreaded mosquito which didnt bother myself and kids but they did love my Husband, insect repellent definately a must!
There is a stone bbq for cooking outside and a full sized oven and hob inside. There is also a large fridge with smaller freezer compartment with plenty of room for a weeks worth of shopping. We did most of our shopping at the Co-op in Colle de Valle d Elsa as it had everything you need including good selection of fresh meats and fruit and veg. Casole D Elsa does have a butcher and small shops and a lovely bakery if you didnt want to venture to the larger supermarket.
Casole d Elsa was a lovely village with plenty of places to eat and buy essentials. We did tend to eat in the same place though, Il Barroccio, as our boys loved the pizzas, which were lovely, as was the coffee, nothing fancy but perfect for us. The Ice Cream shop in the village is a must as we all agreed that it was definately the best Ice Cream out of all the places we visited in Tuscany and friendly!

Daniela had been so helpful from the moment we enquired about booking her property and we kept in touch by email all the time so we could not wait to meet her when we arrived! A more cheerful and friendly and warm person you could not wish to meet, loved her from the first meeting and felt like we had know her for years, nothing would have been too much trouble and she works extemely hard making sure everything is perfect for the guests.
You definately need a car if you want to explore all the tourist spots and the smaller roads are very winding which did make some journeys feel longer than they were but that was to be expected. We did all the main tourist locations, Florence, Pisa, etc but would have to say Siena and San Gimigiano were our favourites as they were not as commercialised as the bigger tourist attractions. We also needed the car for going to and from the village especially at night as parts of the road were too dark for walking safely with children. I would have been happy to walk there during the day though but not the children, lazy boys!

All in all we would definately recommend Casa Daniela if you want a quiet location and as a base for visiting all the tourist attractions in that part of Tuscany. It is a beautiful part of the world and certainly didnt dissapoint!
