“Nice stay at Podere le Cave”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2013

We spent two weeks at this beautiful place and we really enjoyed this time.
Mariella and Dante were extraordinary hospitable. They give useful recommendations to you and make sure that you feel well.
Podere le Cave is a very silent place, but nevertheless you are in Florence in 20 minutes.
The pool and the view are fantastic. Also the terrace is a nice place, only the bank is not really comfort.
All in all we can really recommend Podere le Cave.

I stayed in the podere le cave in June 2013 with my girlfriend. We were greeted my Mariella after making our way from the airport she was extremely pleasant and explained everything very well (her English is brilliant) its a small family run place, room was brilliant , even had a 4 poster bed. The pool and surrounding gardens and farm were also lovley, very picturesque. Being situated 20 mins outside Florence it was easy enough to get there by bus, taxi was quite expensive. Little town of impruneta was a half an hour walk away where we had some of the best food ever. Rooms and pool were very clean and it was a lovley relaxing place to stay at a decent price. Mariella would bring fresh melon, tea etc out to the pool during the day at no extra cost making you feel very welcome. Went horse riding with Dante through the fields which was a great experience. Dante even give us a lift to the bus station in Florence on our last day which was absolultly fantastic, I would highly recommend this place to everyone, it's a brilliant place to stay and fantastic hospitality. We hope to return some day

We spent several days at Mariella and Dante’s wonderful place Podere delle Cave, close to Firenze. My children love animals and when they discovered that they have over 200 animals at the Ranch they went crazy. Horses, goats, chicken, dogs and so on, we spent a lot of time with the animals and my kids also went riding and that was a very special experience for them. The weather during our stay was fantastic and what could be more refreshing then, to jump down in the pool, nice…. The hospitality of Mariella and Dande was unbelievable, we felt as we were part of the family. The rooms were very nice, modern, AC and clean. I believe that it is a perfect combination to stay at Podere delle Cave in the countryside, when you visit Firenze, you will then get two good things, a fantastic experience of Mariella and Dante’s wonderful Ranch Podere delle Cave and only 20 minutes from the center of Firenze.

I can also recommend a visit to the nearby local city Imprunetta, if you go there then I suggest you eat at Rosticceria Pizza a Taglio (Viola), nice local Italian restaurant, and we all know that Italian food is the best food you can get… 

Mariella and Dante, thank you for making our vacation so special!

We found Podere Le Cave searching online for a Tuscan farmhouse that was central for day trips to Florence, Pisa, Volterra, San Gimignano and Siena, but we also wanted one with a pool and with horses for horseback riding. Podere Le Cave exceeded our expectations with their hospitality, incredibly beautiful location and their pet dog, Flash, who endeared himself to us so much that we wanted to bring him home with us!

This farmhouse is on the side of a mountain facing all of Florence below in the valley, and a monastery and some other beautiful villas. The location was absolutely perfect for driving distances around Tuscany for 5 days of exploring the area. It was also only 5 minutes from the town of Impruneta for groceries and supplies and the lovely La Loggettina restaurant, where we ate twice during our stay.

One of the Podere Le Cave owners, Dante, was wonderfully gracious after our horseback ride (1.5 hours of trails for 25 Euros each) and let my niece help him in the stables every day, showing her some Italian riding techniques that differ from North American riding she had been taught.

The farm's resident dog, Flash, was the cutest, most loveable dog, sitting on our front steps as soon as he heard us moving in the mornings, to greet us as we came out. He was a real sweetie and a nice homey thing to have so far from home.

The pool was so gorgeous that we cut short two of our day trips in Tuscany to get back to Podere Le Cave earlier to sit by the pool and enjoy it.

I highly recommend this farmhouse to anyone looking for a working holiday (they grow olives, grapes, tomatoes and figs here) or for a week away of relaxing bliss in the hills by the pool.

Room Tip: They rent out only 3 rooms here, so it depends on the size of the group booking. The max they can re...

Mariella and family were friendly, welcoming and very helpful hosts. The room was immaculate and had everything for our needs. The Olive farm itself is such a beautiful place to stay, amongst the rolling hills of Tuscany, that we wanted to stay there every day to soak up the peace and the quiet and the sheer beauty of the place, and we had to push ourselves to actually leave to go and do some sightseeing :-) It is located very near beautiful Florence which is such a gorgeous place, and we felt it was similar to Verona. The pool and all the outside areas are WONDERFUL and we could not believe to have found such a gem of a place. Swimming in the pool at night under the moon and the stars was incredible and it was lovely to go and see the horses and sweet shetland pony every day; I wish that I had taken up the offer of a ride and a cookery lesson, but will be definately doing that on our next visit! If you want peace and quiet, culture, beautiful scenery and to be in a central place for sightseeing, this is the place to stay. Without doubt, we WILL be back :-) because we had such a great time. Thanks you Mariella and Dante x

Room Tip: You need to really hire a car to come here and benefit from the location if you plan to do some sigh...

We stayed at Podere le Cave first time 6 years ago and were amazed by the idylic beauty of this Tuscany typical house and its splendid location, in the heart of an olive orchard, looking over Florence, which is only a few km away. It was great coming back to the beautifully set pool and to our private room and veranda every afternoon after visiting Florence, Sienna, Pisa and all the great small villages in the surrounding hills. Evenings on the veranda of Casina were a very special treat - Florence in lights, cicadas and quiet romantic nature around. We loved Podere Le Cave so much, that we decided to come again this year for a long weekend - to enjoy Florence and rediscover our beautiful Tuscany house of Mariella and Dante, the friendly owner family. We will definitely come again, as we cannot imagine Tuscany or Florence without our lovely evenings at Podere le Cave.
