Castello di Rosciano
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 29 October 2012

It is the Middle Age fairytale made real by the passion and professionality for hospitality of the family management. Sharing the Castle of the 800 AD with guests is an adventure in Rosciano. Culture and Professionality a mix for excellence. Well done.

Room Tip: All rooms are an experience, one better than the other.

We had our wedding in "Castello di Rosciano" in Sep 2012. We arrived a few days early to enjoy the atmosphere and organise ourselves. Not only the scenery was incredible, we had every chance to enjoy our time to relax with some of our relatives and friends who had also arrived early, before our big day.
At every step of the way, the staff were most helpful and moved heaven and earth to ensure we all have a good time.
The wedding itself went fantastically well organised and we have the owner (especially Chiara) to thank for that. We had a BBQ the day before the wedding which again was great and all the guests enjoyed the food, wine and the venue to their fullest extent.
We have nothing but good memories to take away with us, and am sure will return to re-live some of them in the future.
You have to remember that it is not a hotel, but if you are looking for a wedding venue with class and something different, then you can't go wrong with "Rosciano". Even if you are taking a trip to the heart of Italy, it can be enhanced by a stay at this truly tantalising place. 1st Class

My husband and I got married in Castellio di Rosciano in August, It was the best few days of my life helped in a large way by the incredible venue and staff.

From the very beginning the owners of the castle were extremely warm and welcoming and we cannot thank them enough. Our family and friends booked out the castle for about 4 days and everyone had the best time. Chiara and Matteo and their parents (the owners) could not have done more for us and helped us with som much such as organising taxis, BBQ's, dinnner reservations, etc. The Castle itself is amazing and the views are spectacular. Relaxing by the pool in the days up to the wedding was heaven.

For the wedding itself everything was fabulous, we got married in a local church and went back to the Castelf for the reception. The castle has tons of different rooms which we used for different aspects of the wedding e.g. we had the antipasti outside (food is fantastic), followed by the formal meal inside in a atmospheric cellar style room, followed by dancing outside in the courtyard to a band and then we moved into another room for the dj which was perfect to finish the night off.

The castle is isolated in that it is set high on a hill and you need a car to get to restaurants, etc. A great breakfast is provided everyday and we bought supplies in the local supermarket to eat for lunch while relaxing by the pool (there is no restaurant or shop in the castle but there are small kitchenettes in most of the rooms with fridges which was very handy if you stock up).

I would highly recommend Castello di Rocsiano to anyone who is thinking of getting married in Italy. It is located in Umbria which is a beautiful place and less well known than its neighbour Tuscany. The local wine and food are amazing and there is plenty to do and see.

If you are looking for a five star irish/UK hotel type service this is not the place for you but if you are looking for a venue with tones of atmosphere, great food and wine and a place to relax with friends and family in the days before and after your wedding then check out Rosciano.

We had a small wedding with 80 guest but the castle can cater for a few hundred.

My only regret is that I cannot get married there all over again:)

Room Tip: As there were other weddings on before and after ours booking a room towards the back of the castle...

We stayed at the castle for three nights whilst attending a wedding. Our room was East Tower and it was spotlessly clean and had amazing views. Also the air conditioning was very welcome. The owners of the castle are really lovely and the wedding ceremony and the celebrations afterwards were really magical and the food was to die for. Although it rained on the day of the wedding resulting in all celebrations being inside the organisation was seamless and rooms were transformed into different settings throughout the day without anyone realising it was even happening. The road to the castle is, as you would expect, very steep and it really is advisable for anyone staying to hire a car. We travelled by taxi from Perugia city centre which cost 40 euros and the return trip to the airport cost 50 euros. Breakfasts were really good with fantastic coffee and amazing cakes. Just one word of warning there is no bar at the castle so equip yourself with some beverages and snacks to keep yourself going during the day if you are spending time lounging by the pool!

A good base if you have a car to visit Umbria - Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto. Beautiful small palces near by such as Betona. Really good restaurants within 1-3km. If you are travelling Italy stop here for a few nights to see Umbria. Fluent also in English & French, probably more!

Room Tip: We stayed in the North Tower, top floor, best views of any room (in 3 directions) I have ever stayed...
