We stayed at the Hotel Garden, Peschiera del Garda for a week as a family of four and found it to be an ideal base for exploring the local area, without the convenience of a car.

We initially had an issue as we had booked a room with a balcony and the one we were shown, while bigger, did not have one. It was important to us, as with two young children we were unable to go out later in the evenings. I showed our booking details to the gentleman on reception and to his credit he immediately rectified the situation.

The hotel has clearly undergone a recent renovation and both the rooms and common areas are very nicely decorated. Our room was clean and comfortable. The balcony is of a good size. The balcony could benefit from a little sprucing so as to match the high quality of the interior. Wifi worked well. We found noise from the train station to be negligible.

The hotel is perhaps not in the prettiest part of town but it is certainly convenient. You can see the entrance to the train station from the balcony. We used the train to visit Venice, which took approximately 1.5 hours. The walk to the town centre is an easy 10 minutes and the nearest beach around 20 minutes walk. We also took a boat trip on the lake and spent a day at Gardaland using the free bus which stops right outside. A bus to Movieland also stops here.

Breakfast is served in the adjoining restaurant and was passable but disappointing given the standard of accommodation it supports. We also had disappointing pizza from here. There is better pizza to be had in the little takeaway across the road.

We found the staff at the hotel to be welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We purchased Gardaland tickets from the reception and they assisted with arranging a taxi on occasion.

A couple of minor niggles. Ceramic mugs would have been much nicer than the cheap plastic ones we had in the room. The thermostat would not go below 22 degrees and as such the room never felt as refreshing as it should during the heat of the Italian summer.

All in all, a positive experience and while there is room for improvement, we would happily choose this hotel again.

We stayed here for two nights in October. The hotel is lovely, modern and very clean. Breakfast is taken in the little cafe next to the hotel and was included in the room rate. The cafe is also open for dinner, but we didn't eat dinner there. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom and a good size balcony. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is right across the road from the railway station, so perfect for those traveling around Italy by train as we were. The hotel is in a residential area, but the town of Peschiera is only a 10 min flat walk away. The town is very quaint. There are lots of cafes and restaurants in the town. You can catch a boat to other Lake Garda towns from the pier. We would certainly be happy to stay here again. It was very reasonably priced.

We stayed here 3 nights. First night was awful as there was work on the railway line from 10:45 pm to 5:30 a.m. we didn't get any sleep. We went down to reception twice and the second time the night porter came up to our room and said he would move us in the morning. The next morning we were moved away from the train station end and didn't hear the trains or any further engineering. The rooms are spacious, very clean and beautiful. Breakfast was ok, I'm vegetarian so not a lot for me but I wouldn't let that put you off booking there. Just ask for a room away from the railway end!

Location is excellent for walking down to the center. We went to an excellent restaurant called L'Osteria lovely food and great atmosphere. There is also a pizza place just opposite the hotel it doesn't look much but sells every type of pizza under the sun and sells beer and wine also and good prices. Yes like others be careful of trains as the express ones to Milan and Venice are very expensive, if you have a little more time get the local trains as much cheaper.

Room Tip: Get a room away from train station end if a light sleeper or have children

My wife & I stayed Sept. 26 - Oct. 11, 2016. Hotel Garden is three star, but the service is four star. Price: 80-100 Euro per night including full breakfast, daily room services and all taxes. It is an excellent stay. Our room #103 with lovely, large terrace was across the street from the free bus to Gardaland amusement park (which did not interest us!), and also the STAZIONE, railroad, plus the taxi stand to center town. It is a most convenient location and a much less price than either Milan or Venice where we have stayed numerous times. The staff: Alredo, Elisa, Luciano and Salvatore are all friendly, informative and most patient. It is a joy to deal with Italian personnel who care! Breakfast included multiple cappuccino servings, fresh croissants, fresh fruit (or canned fruit), several juices, fresh hot rolls, several desserts, and nothing else needed, believe me. Taxis ride into town, if you don't want to walk, is a meager 5 or 6 Euro. Enjoy! Try Hotel Garden instead of spending all your money on a stay in Milan or Venice. Besides, the express train gets you to either city in 1h20/30mins!

Room Tip: Choose a room with Terrace which also has SAFE, REFRIGERATOR, & KING bed!

We decided upon Hotel Garden as we wanted to have our base in Peschiera and travel around the east side of the lake and other places by public transport. It worked out extremely well for our itinerary. The location, the hotel, the room and facilities made our week long stay so comfortable.

Do not think that this is a usual run of the mill hotel next to a train station. This place is just beyond comparison to few other 3 star rated hotels we have stayed. Everything looked modern, neat and premium feel. Staff at the reception were very helpful and always welcoming.

We stayed in a quadruple room on the first floor that had a balcony as well. Comfortable beds and pillows. Kettle with tea/coffee making facilities. There is a fridge and a safe. Enough space for clothes and bags. 32” TV with English and Italian channels, internet access, YouTube, jukebox, weather, alarm and even a personalised welcome message!

Spacious bathroom with quality fittings, shower, wc, bide, etc.. Towels changed every day and rooms tidied up as well.

Breakfast served in the restaurant was equally good. Croissant, cakes, juices, cereals, fresh fruits, etc, etc as you would expect from a quality place.

The restaurant serves food until 10pm. We ate here few times and found satisfactory, especially after a tiring day trip it was very convenient to hop off the train, have dinner and retire for the day!

There is a lift. Very good free WiFi all around the hotel – rooms, balcony, lobby, restaurant and the veranda. There is a computer at the lobby and possible to print any urgent travel documents/tickets. There is facility to leave your luggage as well.

Peschiera town centre is just 10 minutes walk from the hotel and the staff would supply the local map and the directions if needed.

Shops – Local shops are mainly in the old town centre. There is a shop inside the station building but closed during evenings. There is a small shop that sells water, spirits, fruits, etc at the main road just opposite the Shushi place.

Buses – Timetable available at the hotel reception. Bus 164 that runs between Verona and Garda visits the train station stop. Gardaland free shuttle busses pickup/drop-of is just opposite to the hotel. Other busses that go to Brescia, Malcesine stop at the main road that is just couple of minutes from the hotel. For buses towards Sirmione, Brescia the stop is opposite to Hotel Enjoy and next to the gas/petrol station.

Bus/Train tickets – There are automated train and bus ticket machines inside the station. As the station gets busier during the mornings, my advice would be to pop into the station the previous night and get the tickets to avoid queuing. There is a tabacchi shop next to Hotel Enjoy on the main road that sells tickets as well.

Taxi – you may find taxis outside the Peschiera station but if you need one during busy times it is better to ask the hotel reception to book it. We took a taxi to the Verona airport (booked by hotel) and it costed around 45 euros. Taxis are metered and according to taxi driver, normally it comes between 43 and 45 euros from the station to Verona airport.

Milan day trip – if you are planning a day trip to Milan by Regionale (ordinary) trains second class, then make sure you buy the train tickets from the ticket office as they issue a Lombardia one day travel ticket that will cost cheaper than buying the onward and return tickets separately.

Overall, Hotel Garden and Peschiera served us as the perfect base for our holiday. Obviously, if you require a room with a lake view, pool, sauna, etc then this is not the place for you.

If we ever visit Peschiera in the future, we would be very happy to stay here again!
