We visited Stari Bar in 10 August 2013. The parking fee near the entrance was 2 euro.To get to the fortress we had to follow a street that had souvenir shops and restaurants on each side. The entrance fee to the fortress was 2 euro for one person. There are a lot of ruins, there is a little church, a clock tower and a citadel inside the old town. The views are very nice from the top of this citadel; from here you can see New Bar, the mountains that surround Old Bar and the olive groves that lie on the nearby hills. It's better if to visit in the morning, because in the afternoon it can get very hot.

This was truly a great place to visit! Would like to come back and visit again. There is a number of restaurants and the food was great and fortress amazing. The parking in front of the Old Town was free.

Stari Bar located in the town of Bar in Montenegro is not just other fostresses, it is something like ruins of whole old town. Before the gate to it you can see an authentic walking zone with a lot of restaurants and shops looked like the ones from old times.

My wife and I have witnessed many ruins over the globe, but Stari Bar has its own identity, which gives itself that added uniqueness. The journey from Becici was only 50 minutes in the car. 2 euros was the entrance fee per person, which is very reasonable in any currency.
We didn't have a guide with us on the day, but we purchased a map which gave us information on all the historic points, which showed us how to find them. We were surprised how freely it was to climb on tall structures and walking inside unknown monuments.
The ruins are spoilt with fab surroundings of mountains and stunning views. We stayed here for about 2 hours, then moved onto the old town, located just outside of the ruins.
If you are staying in Budva, and you fancy a change, then have a ball and visit Bar!

It may sound odd to say that wandering around some old ruins is a really interesting way to spend an afternoon but in the case of Stari Grad it truly is the case. The city was ruined by a combination of warfare and earthquake and is now abandoned. A couple of buildings have been restored but most have not and it is, in my opinion, all the better for it. There are flowers and trees growing amidst the ruins and fallen masonry and fantastic views out over the mountains and towards Bar (the new town) itself. Stari Grad is about a 10 minute drive from Bar itself. There is a small entrance fee (about 2 euros) to get inside and outside the main walls there are a few cafes and shops selling local produce but it is the amazing ambience and atmosphere of the ruins that really make this a wonderful place to visit.
