Accommodation is basic but well equipped, clean and value for money with brilliant on site entertainment. Chalet was dated and had some cosmetic damage but does that really matter when it's only for a week or two? The location was fantastic to reach any beaches or attractions. Owners were lovely and were very helpful. Grandchildren loved the holiday and were very happy. Happy children :) makes happy adults :)
Can't understand why people have put rude negative feedback on here. If you want the Ritz then you should pay there prices!

We have just stayed at Michaelstow for about a week. We paid approx. £350. Nowhere else in North Cornwall is that cheap in the Bank Holiday week. I always hate to see beautiful old houses and estates butchered into modern reincarnations but at least the place is still being used and has retained a little of its original charm. It is privately owned and has a nice family, non commercial feel about it.The Chalets are old and need new bathrooms, kitchens, beds, sofas and carpets but ours was clean and did not smell of damp or have any condensation. The linen was professionally laundered and the oven and fridge & bathroom hygienic. I have to say I have stayed in worse accommodation in caravan parks, owned by much larger companies. We only used it as somewhere to sleep really and were out for up to 12 hours each day, I imagine if you go to holiday park for the entertainment programme and expect kids clubs etc it would be a bit quiet. There was bingo and entertainment every night but we only went once, we had a meal and the food was good home cooked food. Again it was cheap but good value. The staff are plentiful ( more staff and their families than customers it seemed) and polite. Drinks were expensive. They do have a pool table & table tennis but the games room was sparse. We used the pool every day.It is cold but is essentially an outdoor pool so not surprising really and no colder than the sea where we spent most of the time on our holiday. There are no showering facilities or changing rooms to speak of (1 shower you had to pay 20p for but is cold water!)so we just went back to the chalet. No shower there either but a hot bath. We put £4 in our electric meter for 6 days. Some chalets are much better maintained than others with double glazing & new kitchens etc so maybe check that you have one of the nicer ones. Especially if you are spending much more money. I would go back at the same rate as the location is so good. You can be in Rock or Polzeath beach in about 15/20 mins. Close to Wadebridge for shopping etc. The park certainly did not spoil our holiday. The whole park is for sale so that probably explains the lack of investment and general malaise about the maintenance of the park.I would recommend going for a cheap break whilst you can.If there was a shower to use it would be even better! Lets hope whoever buys it turns it into something great!

Oh dear, We went in mid May 2013. The accommodation stank of dampness, The electric cooker, didn`t work except for the grill. We had no shower although requesting one prior to our visit, were told a hand shower set would be provided that fitted on the bath taps, we never had them. The microwave interior was full of rust and were told that new ones were on order but nothing done about it. The Clubhouse is an old stone building and freezing, had to keep coats on all evening. The entertainment was a bit of a let down, same people doing different things. Expensive bar. No breakfasts unless ordered the night before. If you want a shower after the pool, pay shower. Electric meter very expensive. Shop, a waster of time. Owners etc very pleasant though, especially the Polish barman. Spent as much time out of the place as possible. Pubs miles away.

Room Tip: Try somewhere else.

Would not recommend, when we arrived there was tape and cones round our door (like a crime scene) and we where told we couldn't move them for 24hrs, the appartment was sooo damp the beds felt wet, clothes smelt foisty, all crockery etc smelt foisty and were dirty, enamel missing from bath, the overhead shower was a plastic one you put on the taps yourself, seen better public toilets, microwave filthy, enamel chipping and flaking on oven, ended up with a chest infection due to damp condition, requiring a hospital visit for a nebuliser and anti-biotics + steroids. Do not go if any type of asthma, allergies or heart/lung conditions. No mattress protectors on beds, dirty quilts and very dirty old feather type pillows with no protectors either! One of my childrens sheet had a blood stain, the other childs sheet had a feaces stain, no point in complaining as a couple who had got upgraded into worse conditions into the Manor house where their new room had FLEAS!!!! Most of staff are foriegn and did not communicate! Like a concerntration camp!! Was hell on earth, can't really put into words how disgustingly dirty and basic this place is. Better of in a tent with no facilities, it would be healthier. If we could have afforded and wasn't 8 hours away from home we would have left, instead we had to endure, and spent everyday away from this place which is in the middle of nowhere so you have to drive to get out!! Stayed in chalet 87, the window was broken and had white insulation tape over the crack, the frames on windows an door was rotting, wouldn't recommend leaving anything of value in the chalets as not secure, the furniture is not as pictured very, very old, tired and basic and no way could it sleep 6 comfortably.Have plenty of £1 coins for electric and all water is from an emmersion heater. Entertainment left alot to be desired and as for the pool no way would we use it, for fear of endeding up with legionaires disease.

This is the 5year that me and my family having been coming to Michalestow, I would say that yes the apartments are a little dated but for the price you are paying they are very reasonable! I have 4 children all under 10 and not once while we were here did they say thy we're unhappy or bored, they absolutely loved the kids club, they had taken quite a liking to Emily and Dean. Both of them are two very talented young people, I very much enjoyed watching them doing Team Show, the children were also very impressed! I also have to comment on the standard of food. The restaurant was a lovely treat! The menue is very reasonably priced and the food is just amazing! Hats off to her chef! The one site shop was also very nice! Well stocked and dean was always happy to help when we couldn't find anything, we always enjoy out stay here. We have already booked our return in October for the Halloween Ball!!
