“worst place i have ever been”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2008

the chalets were very basic dated and run down just like the majority of the site. I could of just about coped with all of this but the beds were unbeliveable they were the hardest things i have ever been on, i think it would be more comfortable on the floor! the pillows were rock hard i never thought you could get pillows that hard. We were supposed to go for a long weekend but after this first night we left. It was a truly owful exsperience which left us very disapointed, we were so looking forward to the break. There were some chalets that looked like they had been updated but if you get an old one turn back and go home.

We booked this place as a farewell to our son who is emigrating this month. As we drove in we discovered just what a dump we had booked. Nothing like the Hoseasons brochure, it was rundown, uncared for and nothing open, the pool was filthy and you use it at your peril! over chlorineated and very cold. The chalets {so called apartments} were filthy, we spent hours cleaning, then we were moved and spent more hours cleaning, we were told "if you don't like it, GO HOME"
Even our dog was disgusted and wanted to go home!
We can honestly say that this was the worst accommodation we have ever experienced. It was embarassing to our party.
THE WORST OF BRITISH HOSPITALITY - DO NOT GO THERE

My parents are at the above place at present booked through Thomas Cook. When they arrived at the apartment it was a concrete shack is the only words to describe it. It smells, bed out of the arch and generally very very poor condition. They have since compalined and where told that because you only paid £49.00 what do you expect. Another lady was complaining to and got the same answer. Two couples left staright away as soon as they saw the room. I rang and complained and she accused me of being a liar. The shop was closed as someone was ill and there extensive menu is 6 items. The staff in the bar clean the rooms. Miles out of the way.Swimming pool seems to be shut.
Very disppointed.

Just npot suitable for anyone. Needs pulling down and re-building it all.

No wonder the British holiday abroad with places like this still in operation, its digusting. The smelly cobweb ridden chalets are damp, dirty and inadaquatly heated, coin meter electric and charges for bed linen are a rip off. The entertainment is dire and you can't get a drink before 7pm because the bar is closed. The once beautiful Manor House is clearly not maintained and it shows, which is criminal. We booked a short break for 3 nights but only stayed 1 and went to a B&B in Tintagel for 2 nights. I would definately not take my kids here as bad for their health. Dont waste your money on this place.

this place was worse than the £120 pontins holiday we had 2 years ago yet cost us 4 times as much,i booked this holiday with hoseasons so tought it must be a good place how wrong was i,as we drove to reception i was thinking they couldnt have charged £460 for them (the dirty sheds) i was wrong again, when i opened the door to number -- the musty damp smell hit me,we decided to have a look around and it didnt get any better, when i was making the beds up i couldnt believe they expected people to sleep in them the mattresses duvets and pillows were all damp, there was slugs crawling up the walls on the inside,we had 6 lights which only 3 worked the saucepan had half a broken handle the carpet was sticky and the windows were filthy i felt like going straight home but with 2 kids we put up with it an made do,no amount of deodrant perfume or aftershave got rid of the musty smell its gross worst £460 pound i have ever spent wont be going back even if it was free,an wont be using hoseasons ever again..............angie.

Just returned from a week at Michaelstow Manor with two of our gr\andchildren aged 10 and 9. Although we booked last minute and selected a cheaper chalet we were totally impressed by the accomodation, the staff, the grounds and the layout of the chalets which led to a peaceful holiday in a very clean and friendly environment. There was loads of space for the children to play and they loved the pool and kidzone but would have preferred the evening cabaret a little earlier as they were falling asleep by then. We ate in the restaurant most evenings and found the food varied and good. Location is very convenient for the Cornish attractions. A great family holiday. Liz, Dave, Josh and Bethany

  • Liked — very clean and everything supplied, beds comfortable
  • Disliked — lack of shower which we new when we booked
