“Fantastic new restaurant ”
Reviewed 14 June 2014 via mobile

Following a recommendation my husband and I chose to celebrate our 4 th wedding anniversary at the new restaurant Raft. The hostess was very knowledgable and the chef accommodated my pregnant and vegetarian dietary needs. The food was delicious and the veggie options interesting and not run if the mill. We particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere and decor and would definitely eat there again. Highly recommended

“Very Poor Real Ale”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

We have been to the Fish Pond many times because we like the atmosphere and also the real ales.

We are members of the CAMRA club so do know a thing or two about how to serve real ale and also how it should be kept. Unfortunately over the weekend we called and were served very out of conditioned ale which looked like cold tea. We ask for it to be changed for a different one but this was just the same. The staff got uppity and said that is how it should be served! Anyway needless to say we left without having a drink. We will not be making a special trip again!

“Excellent beers”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

I was out taking a walk in Mathlock Bath and saw this pub. Went in for a beer and found that they had quite a good selection of real ales.

“Absolutely Fantastic Lunch for 22 people!”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

We booked the new upstairs restaurant at the Fishpond for a Sunday lunch on the 25th May for 22 people.
The room looked great and welcoming and we were served by friendly staff who could not do enough for us. The service (which can be really hard for so many people all sitting together) was fast and everyone loved the food. We all chose from the Sunday Roast menu and the dishes were presented beautifully. The drinks came whenever we wanted them and overall it was probably 10 times better than we had hoped. Great Chef and great service and fantastic value for money. Thanks to all of you at the Fishpond for a memorable experience!

“SPECIAL TRIP”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

We made a special effort to get here on our way home from Southwell races after reading the recommendation in the current Good Beer Guide. My pint was good (Ashover, Light Rail) but we had a pizza and though it wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. I thought it was expensive too for what we got. There is an artisan bakery on site and that was the main reason for our visit. The bread comes out in very small batches and we had to wait. Had a choice of just 4 kinds of bread. We chose 2 sourdoughs that were reasonable priced and very nice. Don't know how long people had to wait for the next batch though. If you go for the bread, prepare to be disappointed, they could well have none left. More like a cafe inside than a pub. Better pubs around.
