We stayed one night bed and breakfast. The hotel has had a recent update and is very tastefully decorated throughout. I have a wheelchair and found all the facilities easily accessable. The room was very nicely decorated and the bathroom easily accessable. The breakfast was delicious, with good local produce. The staff were very friendly and accomodating, and we would definately stay again.

Fantastic stay in a beautiful part of Derbyshire. If you want an intimate, boutique experience with great food and excellent service look no further. Marcel and his team leave you wanting for nothing. The hotel is tastefully refurbished, close to all local amenities (within walking distance of town centre) and rooms are very reasonably priced - we stayed in room 14 which was a converted loft with a huge circular bed and a bath that would more accurately be described as a swimming pool. If you go to Matlock Bath or want to roam the Peak District look I further. Stay here!!

The room was very pleasant the shower had problems, too dark to see the controls which were a little complex , I had a cold very brief shower before the ample & tasty breakfast . This was buffet format with a cooked menu .The service was pleasant & efficient. I would stay there again

We booked and ordered a twin room as my husband had a bad cough but when we arrived we were told the only room available of that type was a luxury, more expensive one. The room was indeed lovely but over our budget for the 25 days we are in UK.
We didn't dine in as the rather cool and impersonal atmosphere in the bar and lounge made us feel a little uncomfortable.
Breakfast was fine but also the lady very correct and polite but strictly formal and impersonal.
The location was great with lovely views.

The hotel is lovely and the communal areas are a delight. Staff are all very friendly and helpful and the manager is excellent. We were booked in as a group with evening dinner and I must say that the starter, soup and dessert were superb, main course was good but not brilliant and tea was cold. Breakfast was good, excellent scrambled eggs and croissants. Now for the bedroom - not a lot of space, could live with that as it was very nice but it would have been nice to have a chair and if you had a wet coat there was nowhere to hang it other than the wardrobe. No mattress cover which was a shame as the bed was good even if the pillows were very thin (both). The bathroom was small. Shelf above the sink held next to nothing and positioned so that I hit my head while rinsing my face. Only place to set things was shelf above toilet cistern (not something I would do). Shower brilliant but nowhere except floor to set everything. Towel rail was too small for all towels. Had to ask for tea bags and milk in room only 2 tea and 4 milk per day. Not a problem as they were readily given but have never had to ask before. Not what I expected in a hotel of this quality.

We stayed at the high tor midweek made very welcome by the staff. Room was excellent, one of the best we have tried. All the facilities you need. Easy walking distance from both Matlock and Matlock Bath. Had a very good meal in the bar area very good price and the breakfast was very good catering for all our needs. Many thanks for a great stay.

We stayed here for one night. We had room 5, which was lovely & big, but with a slightly odd bed (circular bed base with normal mattress). Nice & comfy, but rather difficult to get in and out-I could imagine people with mobility problems having real difficulty with it. Huge bathroom with nice shower & a bath big enough for a rugby team!

Dinner was good & well priced. I had lovely garlic mushrooms to start, then a tasty mixed grill which would have fed a family of 4 for a week.

When we went to bed, we could hear alot of noise from the bar-I don't think people were being excessively noisy, I think it's just the position of the room.

Great breakfast-again, a huge amount of food!

The chef even gave us some tasty home-made flapjacks to take away.
