Stayed on a one night Secret Escapes break. We stayed in Room 1 and it was a well presented modern bedroom with a lovely bathroom. The bed appeared a little on the small side. The food was excellent and lots of it, so much so that after a starter and main course we couldn't face a dessert. The management and staff were very attentive and as I had left my phone charger one of the girls on reception took my phone away and brought it back charged. The breakfast was also excellent with a choice of full English or Continental. I will definitely be returning here.

What a lovely, clean, fresh hotel. So clean and nicely decorated... Loved the fresh flowers dotted around in the restaurants. All staff were attentive and friendly. Stayed in the honeymoon suite (room 14). Huge and nicely furnished. Circular bed very comfortable, and was nice and quiet all night. As this is an attic type room, there is no view as there are 3 skylight windows. Tv reception was poor. The manager did go up to check it and he said it worked fine for him. But reception was poor for us.. And I did notice another trip advisor comment which had stated the same. The only negative I had about the room was that you could not get the Wi-fi signal... It worked fine downstairs in the hotel itself, but not in the room. This was mentioned to the manager who is aware of the problem. For us, we would have enjoyed the experience more if there had been robes and slippers in the room, and a nice basket of toiletry products put by the bath. There were a couple of toiletries, but I felt they could have been better presented, and a couple of candles around the bath itself would have been nice too.

We had been in our room a couple of minutes, and hey presto, the wine arrived in a nice iced bucket... We were on a wowcher deal that included a bottle of wine.

Must mention Andy, the chef. He was a star. We had a great conversation about cooking, and he gave me lots of tips. He asked what we were having for our evening meal, and after some discussion, he sorted our meal for us... That was brill. Please do have a chat with Andy if you want to know more about the menu and what else he may be able to do for you. Also, and this was such a nice thing to do, we didn't have the chocolates in the room (included as part of the wowcher deal), but after finishing our main meal, the manager brought over to us a slate type plate full of chocolate brownies (topped with fresh raspberries), and a gingersnap basket filled with little bonbons and cakes in replacement for the chocolates... Andy had sorted that one out (we saw him picking the raspberries that are growing up the bank to the side of the hotel). What a lovely thing to do... Much better than having chocolates in the room.

The evening meal was lovely. So very well presented, it all looked so beautiful the way it was presented, and good value for money. The breakfast was equally as nice... Good selection.

We would definitely stay here again. Thank you all, especially Andy, for making this a memorable stay.

Room Tip: Room 14 (honeymoon suite) is great, however, if you like a view this room does not have one as it is...

When we arrived at the High Tor Hotel and checked in, we were told we had been put in the honeymoon suite - what a nice suprise! The room was very spacious with a big comfy bed, huge bath, big tv, and lots of hot drinks to choose from. Breakfast was very good - again, lots of choice. The staff were attentive and friendly. We would definitely return :-)

We stayed in the honey moon suit which is very spacious, has a huge bath and i loved the round bed, love heart cushions and decorations, ideal for a romantic get away. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was really good and the dining area and outside area is very pretty. I would most definitely stay here again.

Was taken for a suprise valentines get-away and had a lovely time. Check in was smoothe and room was pleasent and cleen. Great selection of in room beverages. Food at there restraunt was ok being vegitairian the slecton as with most places was limmited. both veggie dishes available were pasta dishes. there was a family with children in the room next to us and the children were running up and down the hall at 11pm which was beyond annoying . Breakfast was ok small portions for the price. Staff were friendly and the manager offered to move the wireless router closer to our room so we could pick up the wifi. views were fab and near by matlock bath was great place too. would deffantly stay again but would probably eat else where.

Room Tip: recently renivated so any should be good

Hi,
We spent a lovely evening at High Tor, we had a choice of two rooms and each of them were very different and special in their own way due to this I would recommend viewing the rooms before, but it is a very lovely hotel and we had an excellent view, even though it was raining.

Room Tip: Look at the rooms and then if you try to have one facing the car park you'll get a nice view...

Very friendly and helpful staff, immediate response to a change of room so that my wife avoided steps to second floor room. Comfortable room with excellent walk in shower. Good choice for English or Continental breakfast. Dinner menu slightly limited but what is produced is excellent, chef who produces home made soups and terrines and if you are feeling hungry go for the mushrooms in herb and garlic cream sauce, superb. The lift to first floor makes it useful for anyone with walking difficulties.

Room Tip: Room 2 was close to lift and the walk in shower is ideal for anyone with walking restrictions.
