It is useful to to have background knowledge and history of this country's cotton industry and Richard Arkwright's part in it. It would also be useful to know how a cotton mill works.
The displays and machinery carry no written description or history but instead a barcode to access the internet on your smartphone. Thus those without smartphones are left in the dark.
However because I was able to fulfil my two requirements I actually enjoyed this museum with the undoubted highlights the weaving machines in action and the 'Fearnought', a machine for ripping open and cleaning the cotton from the cotton bales.
