Toilets were not very clean. Service was friendly. No food service as they had ran out of food. This was about 5pm.

We had decided to brave the snow and travel the short distance from Nottingham to our favourite Peak District getaway location. After our previous successful stay at The Midland, Samantha had booked the same venue for our short stay, and this time, they really shone with their presentation - suitably decorating the room for the occasion and leaving Belgian chocolates adorning the bed.
We felt right at home immediately, and the whole break was set up to be yet again a lovely experience. The Midland had stopped doing breakfasts on this occasion, but this was not a problem as we had plenty of alternative choices in the smattering of coffee shops located nearby. once more, a super base right at the heart of Matlock Bath where we were meticulously looked after.

Was in Peak district over the weekend. was extremely busy in Matlock Bath on Sunday. saw the heights of abraham and ventured to the pub, which is situated ideally on the main road. (was here many years ago and distinctly remember that beer here tasted great and food was also good).

Managed to get a seat outdoors by the river. was lovely sitting in the sun.
Food - had ordered fish and chips. neither tasted good. at best can say it was average fare.
Beer - felt like it was mixed with water, very diluted.
Service - at the till, when asked how long for the food to arrive, staff says , 'I don't know' , and after a few seconds, says i will go and find out for you (Thank you very much !)

Food came within 15 minutes.so no delays there.

Overall a contrasting experience to the last visit (which was probably in March/April, when it was colder and the pub was less busier, so everything was fresher).
