We spent two nights at Cables for my wifes Birthday Roger & Maureen were perfect hosts, even did our room up as a Birthday treat. Excellent very clean room with four poster bed & very well stocked honesty fridge, 5* evening meal and breakfast was top notch. Greeted with tea and home made cake on arrival and home made bread and marmalade for breakfast.
Would willing stay here again and can recomend Cables for quality and friendly service.

Hi All,

We stayed at the Cables on the 21st and 22nd of July 2012 and had the best time. Roger was great company, made us really feel at home and the place itself is goregeous. The location, the cleanliness, the accomodating nature of the host and the food, all absolutely excellent.

The B&B offers fantastic value for money and the hot tub and the fresh pizzas from the newly built stone oven make the stay just that little bit extra special.

Cannot offer enough praise for this lovely B&B, if you are thinking of the Peak District, you should stay nowhere but The Cables.

Room Tip: The hot tub is awesome!!!

We really enjoyed our trip to Matlock Bath. The hosts Roger and Maureen are very pleasant and the food is superb. With the option of evening meals, this really is a B&B that stands out from the crowd! The Jacuzzi is also a nice touch.

We stayed at the cables from 20-23rd July 2012. We were welcomed with tea and cakes and due to us being early, the room was not quite ready so it gave us a chance to explore Matlock Bath during the morning. We were shown our room at 3pm and it was decorated with rose petals on the bed, a chalkboard wishing Lorraine a happy birthday, a happy birthday banner and a balloon with a card. A great addition to the room was the honesty fridge with a selection of wines, spirits, beers, soft drinks, chocolate, peanuts and milk for having a cup of tea.
Roger and Maureen were very accommodating and could not do enough for you, they were very polite and Rogers cooking is to die for and an absolute must during your stay.
The room was spacious and comfortable and we had access to a private bathroom with shower and accessories. We also had a robe and slippers which was a nice touch. The B&B was very quiet despite the traffic outside, and we would not hesitate to stay again in the future. If you want a relaxing break in a beautiful B&B, then look no further than the Cables!!!!

Thank you Roger and Maureen for 3 wonderful days. Lorraine wishes to thank you for the birthday gifts and loved the way you decorated the room.

Room Tip: We would recommend room 3 as its on the back of the B&B and it's quiet.

Myself and two friends stayed at the Cables from 12/07 to 15/07 and had a fantastic time. The attention to detail and personalised touches that Roger and Maureen put into our stay has made it a place that I will definitely consider returning to- from the towel hanging monkey to ensuring that all of our needs were catered for. The food was delicious and I recommend the Pizza's that Roger makes as well as the Malibu ice cream that Maureen made too!! (Why couldn't we have stayed a week??!!).
The B&B is extremely homely and even though we only stayed for three nights, I think we all came back home feeling well rested. The decor is lovely and the garden is beautiful. We were lucky enough to have pizza's cooked outside by Roger and then to enjoy staying there with a log burner to keep us warm. On the whole, absolutely impressed and you'd be hard pushed to find a better place at such reasonable rates. Set in a beautiful village too with plenty to do. Thank you Maureen and Roger for a lovely weekend.

Room Tip: Benefit of room 3 is that you have a separate bathroom which is large in size. The room accomodates...

As it was our anniversary on the day we arrived we were greeted by Roger who was very welcoming and offered us complimentary coffee and cake, which we appreciated after a long journey.

We then found our room was decked out with a chalk board heart with our names on it, a card, bunting and balloon. We did think that the balloon was a gift to us but no it was all taken back the next day whilst we were out for the day. No matter but we thought that was a bit mean.

Although we stayed B & B an evening meal was on offer at very reasonable cost so we opted to try it. It was simply great together with the service provided by Roger.

Although we were told that Maureen, the landlady was working during the day at no point over the 3 days were we introduced to her. We did ask to see her and was told she prepared the puddings and so she would serve them to us. No Roger served us again. How bizarre we thought. Perhaps she is just shy, not what we expected of a landlady.

Overall though Roger fullfilled our needs and seemed to do just about everything, cooking the meals, cleaning the rooms and the washing.

We booked this stay as a result of previous posts comments regarding attention to detail. Something very important to us. This B & B is midway between Matlock & Matlock bath very close to the cable cars of Abraham's Heigths which is definately worth a visit. Roger will offer a small discount. Apparently the illuminations are on in September 2012 so this would be an ideal place to stay.
