“5 star stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

We stayed at Cloonlara for two nights and were really impressed! On arrival, we were greeted by the friendly hosts who showed us to our room and advised us about places to visit and to eat. They had kindly accommodated our request for an early check-in, ensuring our room was ready upon our arrival. We chose to stay in the Burgundy room, which was spacious and immaculate with excellent facilities including a balcony overlooking the front of the house. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and my partner and I chose scrambled eggs with salmon for breakfast the first morning, and a full english breakfast from the menu the next- both delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Broadstairs and hope to return to the Cloonlara in future.

We have just returned from two wonderful nights here at the Cloonlara, where everything is exactly as it says on the tin. Wonderful hosts, attentive but not intrusive, beautiful house and a very good breakfast. We stayed in the tulip room, which is delightful and got a peek at the burgundy room which looks fantastic. Powerful shower, lovely bedding, a true delightful place to spend some time. Thanks Bernadette and Brian, I had just what the doctor ordered, a two day stay that completely recharged my batteries.

We were extremely pleased with our stay at CloonLara B & B in Broadstairs! :-)
Our hosts Bernadette & Brian immediately made us feel welcome by offering us tea and biscuits on arrival.
My partner and I spent ten wonderful days in the 'Tulip Room' in this quite charming Victorian place with each room having a different theme with nice original features like fireplaces, all beautifully kept.
There were great little extras such as bath robes, wine and beer glasses, a fridge in the breakfast room and even a parking in front of the house.
We were also very pleased with the cleanliness of the room and the ensuite bathroom. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept great!
Breakfast was really excellent, freshly made with a wide choice of menu, with plenty of tea or cofffee, fruit juices and toast as much as you wanted. You could take it unhurried and relaxed in the dining room or (like we did most of the time) outside in the beautiful little garden, were we enjoyed especially the full English that was simply outstanding! Brian cooks up the best full English we have ever tasted (and we have tasted a lot, especially my partner!) Brian even offered different meaty sausages as soon as he recognized that my partner loves English sausages- thanks again for this nice little extra! ;-)
It was also lovely being able to take our afternoon tea outside and enjoy the sunshine.
We felt most comfortable and Bernadette & Brian were very hospitable, helpful and amicable, the really made us feel at home and we laughed a lot together!
Time went by so fast, we enjoyed very much our stay at CloonLara, thanks a lot, Bernie & Brian.
All in all we spent great holidays in CloonLara and in Broadstairs our favourite place in Thanet and we'll be back! ;-).
We are looking forward to staying at this great and charming place again upon our return visits to Broadstairs. We highly recommend this lovely B & B!

Stayed 3 nights in the beautiful Burgundy room, July 4-7th; and can offer nothing but superlatives to describe the accommodation, food and hospitality. Plus the special touches that include a small fridge inn the dining room for use by guests ; wine and beer glasses, delicious biscuits and tea and coffee making facilities with daily jug of fresh filtered water for same. Breakfast (which can be served in the pretty garden) included an abundantly varied fresh fruit salad; with first class quality ingredients from the free range eggs to the high meat content sausages; and more. The whole house is spotlessly clean with furnishings of a high standard throughout. Amazing crisp white table linen, including starched napkins. (not a paper serviette in sight). Comfortable bed, clock radio, free toiletries, flat screen TV,dressing gowns, hairdryer, and more.. 5 star facilities! Bernadette and Brian have time to share with each guest, they have excellent local knowledge and have the art of making you feel comfortable; without being intrusive. We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: There are 3 rooms and all have the same high quality furnishings, their difference being in size onl...

Sorry Bernadette and Brian this review is long overdue. We stayed at Cloonlara last July, it must be the best bed and breakfast we’ve stayed in. Everything about it was first class: terrific hosts, excellent room and a great breakfast.
We stayed in the Burgundy Room at the front of the house, the room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. There is a small balcony overlooking the road and the room caught the sun at the end of the day. Two chairs and a small table in the room meant we could comfortably catch a small breather before venturing out for the evening. Another thoughtful touch is the fridge in the dining room for guests to use. The king size bed was very comfortable and made for a good night’s sleep.
There was plenty of choice at breakfast, couldn’t resist the full English which was delicious.
Bernadette and Brian seem to have thought of everything that makes a great B+B, there were even beach mats in a basket on the landing, in case you’d forgotten to bring them with you. They are both very knowledgeable about Broadstairs and all it has to offer, if you’re looking for a good pub or live music Brian’s the man to ask.
We can’t recommend Cloonlara too highly and would like to say a big thank you to Bernadette and Brian, you made us feel very welcome.

Stayed 2 nights in the Burgundy room in this lovely, welcoming B&B. It's beautifully furnished with great attention to detail. The breakfasts are really good with plenty of choice. Bernadette & Brian were on hand to give us local information and advice on where to go in the area. Once we'd parked the car on the drive we were able to walk everywhere as it's so conveniently positioned.
Ate in the local hotel, with sea views, on the first night, then went to the Italian next door (same views) on the second night. Had lovely meals in both places. All in all a very enjoyable break.

Room Tip: Burgundy room was very spacious and beautifully furnished.
