Constantly changing range of real ales and ciders served in superb condition. Friendly staff and locals and free of all the things that ruin so many pubs these days.

This is one of Broadstairs' great little pubs. Small and friendly with a choice of great ales and ciders. Great value too!!

We use this amazing and cosy ale house on a regular basis. And as a local Bed&Breakfast owner we always recommend this establishment for a good evening out. It offers excellent ales and wine with a really comfortable and relaxing feel. The service is first class with a good knowledge of ales and wines on offer to suit all tastes. . . Would strongly recommend you pay a visit when your in broadstairs.

Not an eatery but a drinkery. Cosy establishment in former pet shop. Focus on real ales and ciders. Also wine. All at £3 pint or glass. Good pork pie with quality relishes. Other snacks available too. The art of conversation is encouraged. Nice little local place.

Most of the drinking establishments in Broadstairs follow a similar profile - fruit machines, big screen TVs, generic selection of drinks. The 39 Steps is different - a small number of tables in a converted shop, a selection of beer barrels behind a counter, a pleasant atmosphere (my wife describes it as the kind of place where a group of women could go for a drink and feel totally comfortable). An unusual, but nonetheless extremely high quality, selection of real ales - on the day I was there we had a selection ranging from light, refreshing bitters, a coffee stout, and an IPA with a 9.3% wallop. The cheese and biscuits plate was great value, and the scotch egg went down a treat.
