Lovely little bar with some great beers on incl IPA & Stouts. We were tempted with the food as it looked good but was too close to our dinner! (how grown up!!)

Front of house needs improvement, no one greeted us or showed us a table or even looked up to say hello. Food came out in waves to all tables after about 40mins of ordering, with the server not knowing who's was who's. We had to get up and find our cutlery and sauces. More drinks were ordered but only came right at the end. It wasn't particularly busy, how they cope on a busy Saturday evening I'm not sure. The moules were nice but the chicken burger leaves much to be desired. The prawns looked nice but didn't try them.

It has potential, it is in an excellent location, I liked it had the open kitchen. They had a wide selection of beers I haven't seen and the look of the place inside is good.

Mainly the customer service needs a big improvement, get that right and people are usually more forgiving when other things may not go right on the night!

Thanks for taking the time to make a comment. . . and are sorry that your evening had hiccups.
First and most importantly -
We'd like to start by saying we think you have misconstrued what we are . . .
We are not a restaurant . . . we are a bar serving food . . .hence the name Reef Bar and Kitchen . . .
- thats why you wouldn't have been shown a table nor received table service.
(We do try to catch the eye of people as they come through the door but tricky if you are pouring pints at the time.)

Hopefully this has helped you to understand the concept . .and we hope you will come back to try those prawns which you say looked so good!

We are a quirky bar with a good range of craft beer - serving food 'small plates style'. Hence food coming out together .. its not a 1st course / mains / pudding place.

Our Menus and Specials board state clearly 'Order at the Bar' ... If you can suggest how we can make it clearer that we are not a restaurant .. we are all ears!

When you say 'more drinks were ordered' .. that sounds like an order from the table which ordinarily (- and especially on an August Bank Holiday weekend when you seem to have visited) we don't do. perhaps that's why there was a delay?

I am sorry you felt you had a need to help yourself to cutlery / cutlery is held in a basket for our staff to bring to you . .. perhaps you saw it and felt you needed to help yourself? All sauces (with the exception of ketchup) are held in the refrigerated area of the kitchen and served as portions so would have been delivered to your table with your food.

We'll be offering a tasting evening of our new autumn dishes and having a 'Gin palace' night.. you'd be very welcome .. and if you identify yourself .. your 1st drink is on us.

Lovely beer!!! Unless you order fish please don't waste your taste buds on anything else!!!
The food I can only compare to school dinners!
Only dishes that where coming out half decent where the fish ones!
Without sounding awful would have been cheaper going across the road and ordering fish & chips!! Would have been cheaper than £10.50 a head.
However service friendly and if your going for the fish and beer it's a fair meal.

Thank you for your time . .
Yes, fish and chips out of a cardboard box at a chippie, would be cheaper than sitting in a bar . . . and the beer cheaper out of a can from a supermarket.

You loved our beer .. and loved our fish - what a shame you didn't have the grace to raise any of this at the time - which would have enabled us to understand what had displeased you.

Its so easy to be negative at a distance . . .
