This house on the high street provided accomodation for homeless people until about 50 years ago!. Until relatively recently ordinary people could not even travel around the UK without a passport so these were mostly local , mainly working men who had fallen upon hard times , rather than tramps. The house is featured in a Dickens short story and is well worth a visit. Allow about 30 minutes.
