“Fantastic Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2012

I recently visited the Grimscote Manor for sunday lunch with my family and had such a lovley afternoon. Before being taken into the dining room we had a drink in the front lounge whilst deciding what we would like to eat. We were greeted and served by friendly staff who took our orders, brought our drinks and sat us down at our table. The food was faultless, there was great choice, fantastic service and the atmosphere was great. We were extremely pleased with the three course meal we were served, it was very fresh and so tasty! Overall it was a lovley afternoon and dining experience that we are looking forward to hopefully doing again soon! Thanks Gill and Steve!

We had a fantastic weekend break at Grimscote Manor. We left feeling that we had made new friends! Nothing was too much trouble for Gillian, Steve and George who are warm friendly and give your stay a real personal touch. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly be visiting again. Thank you so much to you all for making us feel so welcome.

today we vist this hotel at 12 30 noon for lunch.W hen we arrived we were greeted by such friendly staff and we noticed that on our way through to the resturarant there were two rooms adorned with the biggest xmas trees i ever seen and beautifully decorated with such splendour
When we entered the resturant area we were greeted by friendly waitresses who took our coats and then showed us to our table and ask what we would like to drink. While awaiting our drinks we looked at the menu and was pleased with the choice on the menu.We then ordered our food which arrived soon after. We ordered all 3 courses which were freshly prepared and cooked to a high standard...and we thorougly enjoyed the whole eating experience !
We found the dining room tastefully decorated which made it very warm and inviting.Overall we were very happy with the service that Gill and & Steve provided. We are looking forward to returning again soon.
Thank you
Noel & Bev

This was our second stay at this very pleasant boutique hotel which is conveniently located if you are visiting an event at the NEC. Our party of four stayed two nights in late November to attend the Good Food Show and we had a most enjoyable time. As the restaurant was being renovated, we ate in a very cosy temporary dining room. Dinner was very good value for money and the full English breakfast really set you up for the day! Customer service is very friendly and professional. We stayed in the same room as last year, which was nicely decorated and immaculately clean. Based on our experiences last year trying to park our car at the NEC in very heavy traffic, we booked taxis to and from the NEC, which worked well for us and takes all the pressure off driving - especially after partaking of numerous samples of wine and liquours!! Decor in the hotel is quite eclectic with much use of mirrors on the walls but with much attention to detail and always very clean. The owners and staff are all extremely friendly and try really hard to satisfy their customers. We will be going back again next year!

Room Tip: Rooms in the older part of the hotel are full of character.

We arrived at the hotel at around 4:30 pm as we were going to an event at the NEC in Birmingham. We asked if we were eating with them that night which we had to decline as the restaurant didn't open until 7:00pm and we needed to be at the venue for a 7:30 start. We were asked to wait a couple of minutes whilst the receptionist rang the owner who open the kitchen up for us at 5:00. This was a very welcomed sup rise and we promptly took advantage of the offer and was ready to leave for the venue refreshed an well fed. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The price was very reasonable and the service excellent. The rooms in the coach house are very comfortable and tastefully decorated as is the main house although we only stayed in the coach house but it was recommended to us by friends who were with us on this occasion who had stayed before in the house. I would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay but you do need to have transport as it is not in the middle of town. But that said most people come by car so not a problem.

We had a small, family get-together, meeting relations stopping at the hotel, for a meal in the restaurant. We met up in the bar, which is trying to look 'boutique-style' but not not quite getting there and there are no draught beers - just bottled drinks in a fridge behind the small bar. No criticism though, as the wines were fairly decent and not badly priced. The staff serving us were very friendly and helpful.

We went through to the restaurant and this is where is became slightly odd in places - although in quite a charming way! The round table was perfect for the eight of us, although the background music was from a TV on the wall playing Smooth Radio and some of us found the big and bright Smooth Radio logo on the screen a bit distracting!

Although we were all drinking wine there were no wine glasses on the table so those who hadn't brought their glasses through from the bar had to ask for them. When the food was served there was a real mixture of crockery - mostly with quite dated floral patterns. Again, not a criticism but just another little quirk of the place.

However, the food was quite superb all round and excellent value! Rib-eye Steaks £10 each and Sea Bass fillet dishes at £9.50 each, for example! When we looked at the prices on the menu we weren't expecting much but the food was great!

All of the staff that served us were warm and friendly, very helpful and had a sense of humour.

I don't know whether the restaurant is open to non-residents but if you're stopping there I wouldn't bother going out to eat - you'll find it really hard to beat the quality and value of the food at The Grimscote. If it is open to non-residents I'm going back!

Thank you for taking the time to write this review, it is very much appreciated.

We are currently refurbishing the whole hotel, the work on the restaurant is now in progress and will be ready for our relaunch on Saturday 1st December. You'll be pleased to know that the TV has now gone, and the music is provided via a discreet surround sound system.

Our company ethos is very different to most hotels; we are a small family run hotel with its own individual character, every member of staff is professional but equally importantly they all have a sense of humour and are dedicated to provide each and every guest with a memorable experience (but in a good way).

As from the 1st December, our restaurant refurbishment will be complete and it will be open to non-residents, so please come back and hopefully you will have an excellent experience.

Thanks again, we hope to see you soon.

Gillian

We arrived at the hotel and was greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to our room.
The room was excellent, very spacious warm and inviting. Our evening meal was very tasty, looked superb and the service was great.
We also had an excellent breakfast on Sunday morning.
The staff made us very welcome and would stay there again without hesitation.
