“Like going back in time”
Reviewed 23 September 2012 via mobile

Hotel food was nice, breakfast was spot on. Rooms were very dated and the only thing going with the times was the tv. Location is not the best, you will need to drive but good location if your going to the nec. Service was acceptable.

stayed here on business as i have a few times rooms are ok spacious excellent food just small portions in my opinion friendly staff nice cosy bar only gripe for me was when the football is on you have to go into the diner to watch it as no tv in the bar. apart from that would recommend and would definately stay again.

The Grimstock is my choice to stay when in the area because it has a homey, bed and breakfast type feel with a very friendly staff and all the basics one needs (good food, pub, and hot breakfast). Rates are reasonable, but the hotel room decor needs updating-looks like from the 1950's. The restaurant actually has some of the best food in the immediate area. Another great feature is free wifi throughout the hotel... I wish more English hotels would catch on to what the rest of the world already knows- Internet-access is not an extra option anymore. This alone saves one £10/day over other area hotels.

I have just returned from a three night stay and was so impressed how nice the staff were, and friendly the staff are, they are great. my room was comfitable, my only negitive comment would be the bathroom's need updating. I was on business and would not hesitate to stay again.

I stay in this area quite a lot and I am happy to find a nice hotel. Had a couple of business nights here recently and had no complaints at all. The staff were very nice and friendly. The young guy behind the bar and the young girl at reception in particular couldn't do enough. I only eat one night but had no complaints.
If I had to pick out someithing negative it would be a slghtly dated bathroom and a really weak shower, but this is the same in most old buildings down here (i like a power shower) but to be honest this is just being picky the bathroom was clean and I had no real complaints.
I am back in Brum on the 12th and 13th and I have already booked this hotel again and I am looking forward to another quiet night!

I stayed at this hotel last month on business for 3 nights and it was a pleasure to come back to at the end of each day. My room was big and comfortable with large flat-screen telly, desk, wardrobes, big bed etc and everything was nice and clean.
The bar is a lovely cosy place to have a drink while you're waiting to go through to the dining room, and as for the food in the restaurant - I wasn't expecting much but it was some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted and all my colleagues were similarly impressed. I am an awkward vegetarian and the staff were very helpful adapting taking the meat out of certain meals for me.
There is a big breakfast room and there was plenty on offer to choose from. Also worth pointing out there is a big well-lit car park at the front controlled with a barrier.
Walls of the room were a litte bit thin (I could hear a guy's phone conversation in the next room), and bathroom a little bit dated, but I would 100% recommend and I will certainly look this hotel up if I'm in the area again.
