Reviewed 3 March 2013

Ideal overnight stop, cheerful & helpful staff clean adequate room, very good food nothing fancy but well cooked, good portion sizes and presented well at prices that were very reasonable. Idealy located for the NEC and very good access to the motorway system (M42 & M6 )

from the outside it looks like just another village pub, but it has a well kept secret THE FOOD , if you like meat or fish and huge portions of the finest, this is the place. My coleage too me 7 years ago and it is my favourite place to eat in this country, 20oz T-bone steaks cooked to perfection, we had the small 16oz mixed grill and it was stacked high with the freshest meats for £10.50. It gets busy so go early if you can. I cant praise it enough.

Stayed 16FEB13 for 1 night. As previous reviews mention, this is a pub with rooms above it. Rooms were very modern (double and single bed), bathrooms were modern and all rooms have been renovated ovet the last 2-3 years. Room 6 was big enough and room 7 was bigger. Tea & Coffee in all rooms and quilts on bed (nice!). Used this as a B&B as we had a party to attend in the evening - owners provided a key for late entrance as well as room key. Breakfast excellent and service to match (you would pay £10+ in an NEC hotel). Excellent location for NEC (just 2 minute drive from M6 Jcn 4).

As I say, this is not a hotel more of an Inn however if you want a decent nights sleep, in good comfort with a good pub and food then this is an excellent choice. We speak with the owner Chris on Sunday morning and she said more business travellers are using the George and Dragon compared to the costs of hotels nearer the NEC.

Car parking to the rear. Excellent service - would definitely recommend to leisure and business travellers.

Room Tip: 7 rooms in total. Book direct for best rates (Room 7 is a large room although 6 is excellent also).

We ordered and paid for food then we had to wait 20 minutes for them to tell us they had no garlic mushrooms. We waited again to get a sub order of scampi which their wasn't much of....we waited a further 25 minutes for 1 sirloin and 1 rump steak by which the rump was far better tender than the sirloin at less than half the price.
Food was average tasting but the worst part was at no point did any member of staff come over and ask us if everything was ok.
No one even said a word as we were leaving and we were the only 2 people eating in the hole restaurant.
Their was a group of about 6 on the left side of the room who all had finished any meals they had had and 3 people who were nearly finished so we sat their wondering why the very poor service......we have no answer!!!

stayed for 1 night to visit the bike show. very good little pub with rooms. Please remember it is a pub with rooms and not a hotel. The room was clean and comfortable if a little small, but our friends had a huge room. All rooms are on suite with a shower.
Drinks in the bar were cheap with a good choice of wine and beers.
There was alot of noise and music until 11.30 pm but as sad it is a pub and the room are over the bars.
Breakfast was good and served in the bar cooked to order by a very helpful lady.

Needed to have a couple on nights in Coleshill whilst on a course. The George & Dragon Inn was ideally located in a quieter end of town. The room was clean and not cramped with a good modern shower. The breakfast was freshly prepared by two different lady's, who were very friendly and efficient. I had one evening meal of Fish & Chips, it was much better that the usual pub food. The only let down was the soiled carpet leading from the staff areas near the bedrooms. I understand that it is due to be replaced and will give that area of the Inn a big lift. Would I stay here again? Most definitely.

This oldy worldy pub / hotel is friendly clean comfortable and value for money.
The staff are really eager to help. The food was great and excellent value.
The room was light airy and clean. Newly done bathroom.
The breakfast was served hot and was plentiful.
Withing about 4 miles of NEC this hotel / pub is definitely recommended for its fantastic value for money. Would definitely book again next time we are in Birmingham.
