Really lovely cosy bed & breakfast. Very welcoming couple, who are very attentive and happy to help in any way! Me and my partner stayed along with our 2 year old little boy we felt very relaxed and had a lovely family on suite. Breakfast was very good accommodating our son well too. The bed & breakfast is perfectly situated for the ferry port and very easy to find.

Stayed one night after arriving off the last ferry. Made extremely welcome by very friendly, smiley hosts. My room was really comfortable and the shower was powerful and hot - could have stayed in there all night. Had a fantastic sleep. I only had a continental breakfast, however the full Scottish looked very substantial and others said it was lovely.
Would definitely recommend.

The Merchants House is a must if you're staying in Cairnryan. Me and my wife stayed over the evening before catching the Stena Line ferry to Belfast in August 2013.

Fiona and Alan were so accommodating - Fiona's scottish friendliness combined with Alan's Yorkshire sense of humour are a perfect match. They stayed up with us for a few beers and the conversation was freely flowing (what a lovely couple.) Our room (3) was clean and comfortable and had an amazing view of the coastline.

The home-cooked food is excellent - we had an evening meal and a hearty breakfast the following morning. In fact, the restaurant is the only one in the village so you'd have a car ride to get a meal if you're not staying with Alan and Fiona.

Overall, a fab stay and ideal if you're catching a P&O or Stena Line ferry as the terminals are both within a mile.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3. Comfy beds although on the main road so had to close the window through the ni...

The Merchant House is a B&B with a Licenced Dining room and a small adjoining bar. Room had nice views over the sea. It was next to main road so had to keep window closed. The Merchant House is a family run operation with a very friendly staff. Dinner was decent and very reasonably priced. Room was well equipped with tea / coffee facilities and good shower. Only critism was that the bed was a bit worn down at one sidecreating a bit of a slope, but otherwise clean, friendly hotel well equipped hotel. It is located between the two ferries in Cairnryan. As our ferry left early in the morning the landlady kindly made up a packed breakfast for us.

From the welcome of the hosts and the fire to the location for the ferry you know its a good `un.
A great place to stop for a few days on the way to and from Northern Ireland.
The bedroom was overlooking the sea loch and was very comfortable.
The breakfast was plentiful and varied.
A B&B just as it should be.
