“Stop over on Coast to Coast Riding Holiday 2014”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

Stayed in this hotel for one night whilst on a horse riding 2 day holiday. It is a lovely hotel, our room 3 was really clean, modern and bright. Staff were welcoming and couldn't do enough for our group. The food was excellent and everything was "home" made and the vegetarian meal was exceptional! Breakfast was the best and a packed lunch was provided which was almost a buffet, best selection I've ever had for a lunch! I cannot fault this establishment in the slightest!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 3 which overlooks the front of the hotel

I have always liked this hotel - the setting couldn't be better, and as a comfortable base for walking, fishing etc I've always thought it's hard to beat. Now, it's even better. The new managers, Lynn and Dan, have been like a breath of fresh air. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they have built up a small friendly team who make the hotel a pleasure to stay in. The food is now outstanding - (I can't think of anywhere where you get a better traditional cooked breakfast) and the dinners, from the buffet -are usually a roast of lamb or venison, with a choice of fish or chicken. And Lynn's puddings! Plum duff - bread and butter pudding - I had forgotten how delicious these can be when properly prepared. So with the on-going refurbishments, this has become a very special place indeed which I would heartily recommend to anyone - walkers, fishers, families and tourists.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms with a view on the river - but its a quiet hotel - very little traffic - so the r...

This hotel just gets better and better! A winter refurb has made the Oykel Bridge even more comfortable. The refreshed river rooms, with huge bathrooms, are excellent. Even smarter rooms are in the main building.
Dan and Lynn offer a friendly and warm welcome, nothing is too much trouble and the food (no microwaves here!) is fresh and delicious.
No longer just the preserve of the salmon fishers, the hotel is now an ideal stop over for walkers, cyclist and tourists and offers two well stocked and welcoming bars.

At the end of a long day of cycling and hill walking, this hotel was right at the end of the track. Warm and comforting as we entered, we decided to have a bar meal. It was busy, but could give us a meal in about 30 minutes. It came on time and was wonderful, well worth the wait, and very reasonably priced. Excellent service and quality.

I very much enjoyed my recent visit to The Oykel Bridge Hotel - extremely friendly staff and happy atmosphere. Although I didn't stay, I was given the chance to view some of the recently refurbished bedrooms - very impressed. Tastefully done and to a high standard. The hotel has new owners who have already done so much and I understand plan to do much more to make this a really comfortable hotel. I look forward to returning soon.

We were staying at the Oykel Bridge Hotel whilst fishing on the Upper Oykel. Fantastic new team running it, and nothing was too much trouble. Buffet style dinner was exceptional every night. We stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms. beautifully designed with wonderfully comfy beds, pillows and bed linen. Our son stayed in a room that hasn't been done up but it had had a lick of paint and was still really nice. Dogs welcome too. Definitely should be on anyone's list to stay there or eat if passing through. We'll definitely be back!

The hotel with a pub attached is the focal point for salmon fishermen who represent most of the hotel's guests. I have stayed here for several years and this year it has recently had a partial makeover and new management.

The bedrooms are now more modern and comfortable and every night a different roast meal is served to the guests. It is hearty honest fair and it is clear the new kitchen is seeking to raise standards and certainly achieving this.

Overall it is a welcoming hotel and very convivial. It is not the hight of luxury but that is not what I personally want when staying in the highlands. Much better an honest good value quality hotel where the guests all mix and talk together. A fine whisky selection behind the bar as you'd expect.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have been improved, some more than others. This is reflected by a small difference...
